In recent years, the natural damage associated with flood disaster has been dramatically increased. However, there is no rational method which reflects urban characteristics to estimate the regional safety assessment for flood disaster. The purpose of this study is to develop the regional safety assesment model for urban flood. Flood risk and reduction assesment were estimated by using the linear sum of the Z score of the assessment factors and the weight value of each factor from the expert survey data. And then the regional safety assessment was estimated by subtracting reduction factor value from risk factor value. GIS tool was used to estimate the factor assesment and integrated regional safety. This study can be used to determine the priority of flood protection project, execute the flood insurance and establish the urban plans and the flood mitigate plan.
Dynamic fracture mechanism of rock is important to improve rapid excavation method and develop precise damage assesment of rock mass in the vicinity of an excavation. In order to investigate dynamic fracture characteristics and dynamic damage mechanism of brittle materials, this study employed pulse shape-controlled Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) system. The P- and S-wave velocities of the tested samples were measured before and after tests to examine damage of the samples. The decay ratios of the Ultrasonic wave velocities increased with impart velocities and the samples which have lower strength showed higher permanent strain significantly.

Flood disasters on the metropolis where population and facilities were densely concentrated cause an enormous damage, therefore it is important to find risk and vulnerable area for floods, and then mid-long term disaster reduction plan should be established by the results. However, there is no rational method which reflects urban characteristics to estimate the regional safety for flood. so it is necessary to develop the standardized method of regional safety assesment due to urban flood. The proposed regional safety assesment model in this study was combined risk and mitigation score which consisted of three and two element, and 12 assesment factors which effect flood disasters were selected. And then the integrated regional safety was estimated by subtracting mitigation score from risk score. GIS tool was used to estimate the factor assesment and integrated regional safety. Developed regional safety assesment model was applied in Seoul to evaluate the suitability.

Landslide damage comprise most part of the damages from the earthquake and it only causes the damage to lives and structures directly but also cease the operation of social system by road or lifeline failure. For these reasons hazard assesment on the landslides has been recognized very important. And hazard maps have been used to visualize the hazard of the landslide. In this study as first step for application of hazard map to domestic cases hazard maps are made for the Ul-Joo Ul-san Korea, Where the Yan-san faults are located. For building hazard maps the degree of hazard are evaluated based on Newmark displacement and the resulting maps are constructed by GIS technique. In hazard assesment maximum ground acceleration obtained from attenuation equation of wave propagation and design earthquake acceleration suggested by Ministry of construction are used for acceleration term. Hazard maps are made by GIS programs Arc/Info and Arc/View based on the digital maps and data from lab tests and elastic wave surveys The maps show the possible landslide regions significantly and the displacements of slide are proportional to the slope angles.

When a structure is damaged, its dynamic responses (natural frequency, acceleration, strain) are found to be changed. The ANN(Artificial Neural Network) damage-assesment method is that some measured dynamic signals from the structural changing dynamic responses are applied to ANN to assess the structural damage. Although there have been some studies on a certain typical cases so far, it is rare to find studies about the characteristics of the ANN damage-assesment method or about its applicability, its strength and weakness. So this study researches on the characteristics of ANN damage assesment method and on a problem in application of the various dynamic responses to ANN. What the ANN damage assessment method usually does in past researches is to teach an ANN by using some response signals obtained from damaged structures under one kind of excitations and to identify the locations and the extents of damage of same structures under the same excitations. However, the excitations inflicted on the structures are not always the same. Thus this study experiments whether a ANN which is trained using the same excitations is able to identify the damage when different excitations inflict. All response signals are obtained from experimental models.

Risk of damage on information system being grow according to increasing its dependence rate on most of organization. On this work, make planed for a safety assessment system in which information protection management system and threat analyzing method. Also, during threat assesment, we have planned possible an equal-weight applied assesment and considering the characteristics of the organization, an assesment which security factor's weight is variably applied to, and respective organizations to examine its security by itself in order to support the easy findings of the vulnerabilities on the management point of view, and to show the advices to practice.
In this study, damage assesment and repair technique of aircraft adopted on Sandwich composite structure were performed. The sandwich composite structure were damaged by drop weight type impact test machine. The damaged sandwich composite structure was repaired using external patch repair method after removing damaged area. This study presents comparison results of the experimental investigation between the impact damaged and the repaired specimen.

Stone pagoda structures have continued to be aged due to the combination of various damage factors. However, some studies on nonstructural damage have been carried out, but assessment studies on structural damage have not been done in various ways. Therefore, in this study, structural and nonstructural influencing factors according to the damage types are classified and the damage assessment according to the structural influencing factors affecting the behavior of the stone pagoda structure is performed. In addition, the damage rating classification criteria for each type of structural damages or damage locations are presented, and the damage index is calculated by providing the criteria for the classification of damage according to the degree of damage to which the damage is caused. Therefore, this study can evaluate quantitatively the damage status of stone pagoda structures.
In Turkey, majority of industrial facilities are composed of precast buildings. However, precast buildings have suffered extensive damage during Kocaeli and Duzce (1999) and Adana-Ceyhan (1998) earthquakes. Therefore, in this study, fragilities of existing building stock and damage probabilities of precast buildings were studied. For this purpose, building inventories were prepared and variation of structural parameters was determined by investigating the design project of 65 precast buildings constructed in Denizli, Turkey. Twelve analysis models which reflect the stiffness, strength and ductility properties of building inventory were constructed. After the definition of strain based displacement limits and corresponding damage states for buildings, displacement demands were calculated by using non linear time history analysis. During the analyses 360 strong ground motion records were used. Exceedence ratios of concerned damage limits was calculated by checking the displacement demands and then PGV based fragility curves were constructed. Efficiency of strength, stiffness and ductility properties of existing precast buildings were investigated by comparing the fragility curves. The results have shown that the most effective parameters that govern the damage probabilities of precast buildings are stiffness and ductility. It was also stated that the results of fragility analysis and damage and failure observations performed after Kocaeli and Duzce Earthquakes are compatible.

This paper presents a damage assesment method for buried pipelines subjected to Deep Excavation-induced ground movements. Ground deformation characteristics resulting from 3D finite element analysis was represented mathematically by a hyperbolic tangential function. A parametric study was performed on excavation depth and burial position of pipeline. The result of the parametric study indicate that length of hyperbolic tangential function affects the results of damage assessment. Using numerical studies for buried pipeline response to ground movements by relative flexibility of the pipe-soil system. The result of numerical studies are presented in forms of design charts which can be readily used for various condition encountered in practices.
