터빈 로터강의 피로크랙전파속도의 확률특성 연구( I ) (A Study on the Statistical Characterisics of Fatigue Crack Propagation Rate in Turbine Rotor Steel(I))

  • Inorder ot estimate the running life of turbine rotors, fatigue crack propagation low, da/dN = C(${\DELTA}K)^m$, proposed by paris et al. has been widely applied. In this study, fatigue crack propagation rates for 16 samples of 1% Cr-Mo-V rotor steel were measured and statistical characteristics of m and C values in above equation were reviewed. The results are summarized as follows. 1. C and m follow a log-normal distribution and normal distribution, respectively. And the relation of C and shows a strong negative correlation. 2. Fatigue crack propagation equation can be expressed as da/dN=$4.11{\times}10^{-4}({\Delta}K/153.8)^m$, introducing the ralationship C=$C_oK_o^{-m}$. In this case, contribution of $C_o$ distribution to the distribution of log C shows very small compared to degrees of contribution by m.

압력용기용 A516강의 저온피로크랙전파특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Fatigue Crack Growth of A516 Steel for Pressure Vessel at Low Temperatures)

  • In this study, CT specimens were prepared from ASTM A516 Gr. 65 which was used for pressure vessel plates for moderate and lower temperature service. Fatigue crack growth test was carried out in the environment of low temperature of $10^{circ}C, -10^{circ}C, -30${circ}C\;and\;-50^{circ}C$ and in the range of stress ratio of R=0.05 and 0.3 by means of opening mode displacement. Based on these test results, the characteristics from temperature and stress ration were shown as follows. 1) As the stress ratio, R increased da/dN and ${Delta}K$ of 2nd stage gradually decreased. And as R decreased, the effect of temperature became greater and greater. 2) As the temperature descended, da/dN decreased on a certain ${Delta}K$, and ${Delta}K$ did in a same da/dN. And the stress ratio, R exerted greater influence at the lower temperature. 3) The fatigue crack growth constant, m increased at $10^{circ}C$ and $-10^{circ}C$, snd decreased at $-30^{circ}C$ and $-50^{circ}C$ following the increment of stress ratio R. And m increased along with the reduction of temperature greatly decreased at $-30^{circ}C$ to come close to two(2).

  • 용접구조에서 피로파괴는 피로균열의 성장거동에 주로 지배를 받는다. 특히 용접방향과 피로균열 성장방향의 이방성은 용접부 피로파괴의 중요한 영향인자가 된다. 피로이력을 갖고 있는 강재와 피로이력이 없는 강재를 용접시 저 ${\Delta}K$ 영역에서는 모재의 재질적인 영향인자보다 잔류응력의 영향이 크게 작용하였다. 그러나 균열이 용착금속에서 성장을 하는 경우는 용착금속의 인성이 가장 중요한 영향인자가 되는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 특히 용착금속의 인성불균일은 $da/dN-{\Delta}K$ 관계를 넓게 분포시킨다.

  • In this study, corrosion fatigue test of SAPH45 steel was performed by the use of plane behavior of base metal (BM) and heat affected zone (HAZ) of SAPH45. The main results obtained are as follows: 1) The more aspect ratio (b/t) of corner crack decreases, the more aspect ratio (b/a) takes greatly effect by corrosion. 2) The correlation between the stress intensity factor range ($\Delta$k) and crack growth rate (da/dN) for weldment in seawater is given by Paris rule as follow: da/dN=C($\Delta$K) super(m). Where m is constant, and the value is 3.82-3.84. 3) The accelerative factor ($\alpha$) of BM and HAZ under seawater is about 1.1-1.9, and ($\alpha$) of HAZ increases more and more under the low $\Delta$K region. 4) HAZ is more susceptible to corrowion than BM because of potential of electrode (E sub(c)) of HAZ becomes more less noble potential than that of BM.

압력용기용 강의 저온 피로크랙 하한계 특성에 관한 연구(II) (A Study of Fatigue Crack Threshold Characteristics in Pressure Vessel Steel at Low Temperature)

  • In this study, CT specimens were prepared from AST SA516 Gr. 70 which was used for pressure vessel plates for room and low temperature service. And we got the following characteristics from fatigue crack growth test carried out in the environment of room and low temperature at 25$^{\circ}C $, -60$^{\circ}C $, -80$^{\circ}C $ and -100$^{\circ}C $ and in the range of stress ratio of 0.05, 0.3 by means of opening mode displacement. At the constant stress ratio, the threshold stress intensity factor range ${\delta} K_{th}$ in the early stage of fatigue crack growth (Region I) and stress intensity factor range $\delta $K in the stable of fatigue crack growth (Region II) were increased in proportion to descending temperature. It was assumed that the fatigue resistance characteristics and fracture strength at low temperature is considerable higher than that of room temperature in the early stage and stable of fatigue crack growth region. The straight line slope relation of logarithm da/dN -$\delta $K in Region II, that is, the fatigue crack growth exponent m increased with descending temperature at the constant stress ratio. It was assumed that the fatigue crack growth rate da/dN is rapid in proportion to descending temperature in Region II and the cryogenic-brittleness greatly affect a material with decreasing temperature.

  • The fatigue crack propagation behavior of the SA516/70 steel which is used for pressure vessels was examined experimentally at room temperature, 150$^{\circ}C $, 250$^{\circ}C $ and 370$^{\circ}C $ with stress ratio of R=0.1 and 0.3. The fatigue crack propagation rate da/dN related with the stress intensity factor range $\Delta K$ was influenced by the stress ratio within the stable growth of fatigue crack(Region II) with an increase in $\Delta K$. The resistance to the fatigue crack growth at high temperature is higher in comparison with that at room temperature, and the resistance attributed to the extent of plasticity-induced by compressive residual stress according to the cyclic loads. Fractographic examinations reveal that the differences of the fatigue crack growth characteristics between room and high temperature are mainly explained by the crack closure and oxide-induced by high temperature.

  • 선박이나 심해저 해양플랜트와 같이 가혹한 해양환경에서 사용되는 강구조물에서 부식피로는 설계수명과 관련하여 해결을 요하는 중요한 문제이다. 본 연구에서는 전기방식중 과도한 전기방식이 부식피로균열 전파거동에 미치는 영향을 고찰하기 위하여 근래 사용이 확대되고 있는 고장력 TMCP에 대하여 합성해수중 -950mV vs. SCE의 과방식 인가전압 환경에서 부식피로균열 전파시험을 실시하고 da/dN-${\Delta}K$ 선도를 구하였다. 이 선도에서 저 ${\Delta}K$ 영역에서는 해수중 전파속도보다 빠른 균열전파속도를 나타내었으나, 고 ${\Delta}K$영역으로 갈수록 해수중 보다 늦은 균열전파속도를 나타내었다. 부식피로균열 전파속도에 영향을 미치는 인자로서 가속요인과 감속요인으로 나누고 각각 수소기체와 석회질생성물의 역할에 대하여 고찰하였다.

  • The retardation effect of fatigue crack propagation after cyclic overloading seems to be affected by strain hardening exponent. Namely, for the material with high values of n, the delay effect is found to be severe. We proposed a modified crack retardation equation which may apply the retardation of fatigue crack growth after a cyclic overloading, as (da/dN)'$_{cyc}$=($\mu$n+λ)B $\Delta$ $K^{q}$ /[(1- $R_{eff}$) $K_{cf}$$\Delta$K]. where, $R_{eff}$ is effective stress ratio [=( $K_{min}$-K, os)/( $K_{max}$$K_{res}$)] The constants $\mu$=-0.5 and λ=0.6, and the values are found to be identical for materials such as aluminum (A 1060), steel (SS 34), brass ( $B_{s}$ SIB) and stainless steel (SUS 304) used in this investigation.   • 본 연구에서는 용접잔유응력의 영향을 보다 정확하게 규명할 목적으로 용접잔 유응력의 피로반복 사이클 수에 따른 이완량을 측정하고, 모재의 실험 결과에 중첩의 개념을 도입함으로써 용접잔유응력이 피로크랙 전파에 미치는 영향을 규명할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 하나의 예로서 SS41재를 선택하여 서브머지드아크 용접을 한 후, 본 논문의 방법을 작용함으로써 용접잔유응력의 영향에 대하여 분석하였다.

  • Though the magnitude is decreasing, the compressive residual stress is always distributed during fatigue crack growth near the crack tip. This means that the residual stress is released during fatigue crack growth due to the alternative load. ${\Delta}K_{IV}$ is modified by using the initial residual stress and the redistributed residual stress in uniform and various thickness welded specimens. The former is denoted by ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$ and the latter is denoted by ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$. ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$ gives more accurate relations in da/dN vs. ${\Delta}K_{IV}$ curve, however the difference is very small.
