  • In this article, the linearity of single power amplifier is improved by suppress $2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}$ harmonics at output port of high power amplifier and by cancelling of $3^{rd}$ IMD. The matching network in order to suppress harmonics consists of metamaterial like the CRLH. The $2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}$ harmonics are suppressed over 27 dBc, respectively. A phase of generated $3^{rd}$ IMD at output of DPA (drive power amplifier) has changed in order to offset the $3^{rd}$ IMD of HPA (high power amplifier). The harmonics of the proposed PAM suppress over 6 dB than single HPA. The PAM has a 36.98 dBm of the output power, 21.6 dB of the power gain and 29.4 % of the PAE. The harmonics is a -53 dBc about PAM. This result indicate that a harmonic level is lower 20 dB than reference power amplifier.

  • In this paper, the effect of the phase noise of a local oscillator on the ACPR of a transmitter and the reception sensitivity of a receiver to meet the TIA/EIA/IS-98-D for the CDMA mobile station was analyzed. And the optimum condition for performance of the local oscillator was suggested. It was found that the phase noise level of the local oscillator in a receiver and a transmitter should be below -138.3dBc/Hz and -120dBc/Hz, respectively, at 900kHz offset. It was confirmed that the reception sensitivity and ACPR efficiency were satisfactory when the signal of the local oscillator to the down-converter of a receiver with the phase noise level of less than -138.3dBc/Hz is supplied to the up-converter of the transmitter.

  • A dual band I/Q modulator which converts baseband input signals to 2.4GHz or 5GHz RF output has been proposed. The dual band I/Q modulator for 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless LAN applications consists of $90^{\circ}$ phase shifter and wideband mixer. The I/Q modulator showed 15dB conversion loss at 2.4GHz and 16dB conversion loss at 5GHz. The sideband suppression is about 15dBc at 2.4GHz and 16dBc at 5GHz. Measured data shows 8.5% EVM at 2.4GHz, and 10% EVM at 5GHz for QPSK with symbol rate of 11Mbps. A carrier rejection is about 40dBc at 2.4GHz/5GHz band, and the I/Q modulator satisfied the output wireless LAN spectrum mask with baseband input signal.

  • A high output power voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) in the U-band was implemented using a 65 nm CMOS process. The proposed VCO used a transmission line to increase output voltage swing and overcome the limitations of CMOS technologies. Two varactor banks were used for fine tuning with a 5% frequency tuning range. The proposed VCO showed small variation in output voltage and operated at 51.55-54.18 GHz. The measured phase noises were -51.53 dBc/Hz, -91.84 dBc/Hz, and -101.07 dBc/Hz at offset frequencies of 10 kHz, 1 MHz, and 10 MHz, respectively, with stable output power. The chip area, including the output buffer, is $0.16{\times}0.16mm^2$ and the maximum output power was -0.11 dBm. The power consumption was 33.4 mW with a supply voltage of 1.2-V. The measured $FOM_P$ was -190.8 dBc/Hz.

  • In this paper, a K-band local oscillator composed of a VCDRO(Voltage Controlled Dielectric Resonator Oscillator), GaAs MESFET, and Reflector type frequency doubler has been designed and fabricated. TO obtain a good phase noise performance of a VCDRO, a active device was selected with a low noise figure and a low flicker noise MESFET and a dielectric resonator was used for selecting stable and high oscillation frequency. Especially, to have a higher conversion gain than a conventional doubler as well as a good harmonic suppression performance with circuit size reduced a doubler structure was employed as the Reflector type composed of a reflector and a open stub of quarter wave length for rejecting the unwanted harmonics. The measured results of fabricated oscillator show that the output power was 5.8 dBm at center frequency 12.05 GHz and harmonic suppression -37.98 dBc, Phase noise -114 dBc at 100 KHz offset frequency, respectively, and measured results show of fabricated frequency doubler, the output power at 5.8 dBm of input power is 1.755 dBm conversion gain 1.482 dB, harmonic suppression -33.09 dBc, phase noise -98.23 dBc at 100 KHz offset frequency, respectively. This oscillator could be available to a local oscillator in K-band which used frequency doubler techniques.

  • The EM(Engineering Model) LO(Local Oscillator) is designed for Ka-band satellite transponder. The VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) is implemented using a high impedance inverter coupled with dielectric resonator to improve the phase noise performance out of the loop bandwidth. The phase of VCO is locked to that of a stable OCXO(Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) by using a SPD(Sampling Phase detector) to improve phase noise performance in the loop bandwidth. This LO exhibits the harmonic rejection characteristics above 43.83 dBc and requires 15 V and 160 mA. The phase noise characteristics are performed as -102.5 dBc/Hz at 10 KHz offset frequency and -104.0 dBc/Hz at 100 KHz offset frequency, respectively, with the output power of 13.50 dBm$\pm$0.33 dB over the temperature range of -20~+7$0^{\circ}C$.

  • Dwarf elliptical galaxies (dEs), the most abundant galaxy type in clusters, were recently shown to exhibit a wide variety in their properties. Particularly, the presence of blue cores in some dEs, what we call dE(bc), supports the scenario of late-type galaxy infall and subsequent transformation into red, quiescent dEs. While several transformation mechanisms for these dE(bc)s within cluster environment have been proposed, all these processes are able to explain only some of the observational properties of dEs. In this context, internal kinematic properties of dE(bc)s provide the most crucial evidence to discriminate different processes for the formation of these galaxies. We present Gemini Multi Object Spectrograph (GMOS) long-slit spectroscopy of two dE(bc)s in the Virgo cluster. We obtained radial profiles of velocity and velocity dispersion out to ~1.3 effective radius. We found that two dE(bc)s exhibit kinematically decoupled components as well as distinct peculiar features in velocity profiles, supporting the scenario of mergers. We also found that these galaxies are structurally compatible with low surface brightness component of blue compact dwarf galaxies. We suggest that a part of dE(bc)s in the Virgo Cluster were formed through galaxy merger in low density environment such as galaxy group or outskirt of the cluster, and then were quenched by subsequent effects within cluster environment.
