수직원통형 축열조내 물의 응고과정시 열전달에 관한 실험적연구 - 작동유체의 유동방향에 따른 열저장성능 비교 - (A Study of Heat Transfer during Freezing Process of Water in a Vertical Cylinder - Comparison of thermal storage performance on the working fluid direction -)

  • 본 연구는 용융점 온도가 $0^{\circ}C$인 순수 물이 수직원통형 빙축열조 내에 각각 형상비(H/R)가 4와 2인 형태로 채워져 있을 경우 수직원관 내로 유입되는 작동유체의 온도를 $-10^{\circ}C$, 유량을 10 liter/min로 고정시킨 후 유동방향을 상향과 하향으로 변화시켰을 경우 시간경과에 따라 나타나는 물의 응고형상, 수직원통의 온도분포, 수직원관의 온도분포, 축열량에 대한 열전달현상을 실험적으로 규명한 것이다. 축열조내 물의 온도분포는 초기온도가 $7^{\circ}C$인 경우 냉각과정중 축열조내 상부가 하부보다 높고 시간경과 후 물의 최대밀도점인 $4^{\circ}C$ 이하에서는 축열조 하부가 상부보다 높으며, 초기온도가 $4^{\circ}C$$1^{\circ}C$인 경우는 물의 밀도값이 최대점인 $4^{\circ}C$ 이하이므로 실험시작 초기부터 하부가 상부보다 온도분포가 높게 나타났다. 응고과정 시에는 동일한 초기온도 하에서 작동유체의 유동방향이 상향일 경우가 하향일 경우보다 축열조내 자연대류 유동이 활발하여 액상의 평균온도는 빠르게 강하되고 수직원관 외벽면의 상 하부 온도차이도 적으며, 응고형상은 축열조내 물의 초기온도가 $7^{\circ}C$$4^{\circ}C$ 일 때 상 하부에서 고르게 진전된다. 축열조내 물의 초기온도가 $1^{\circ}C$인 경우는 전도열전달의 영향이 지배적이므로 응고층의 생성은 작동유체 유동방향으로 형성되어진다. 축열량은 형상비에 관계없이 초기온도가 높을수록 크게 나타났으며, 동일한 초기온도 하에서도 작동유체의 유동방향이 상향으로 유입될 경우가 하향에 유입되는 경우보다 시간경과 후 크게 나타났다.

광섬유 음향 센서용 맨드릴 설계 및 특성 연구 (Characteristics Investigation and Design of the Mandrel for Fiber Optic Acoustic Sensor)

  • 본 연구에서는 변압기 열화 진단에 사용되는 Sagnac형 간섭계의 핵심 기술인 광섬유 음향 센서의 설계를 위하여 세 가지 서로 다른 형태의 맨드릴형을 제안하였고 이의 진동 특성을 살펴봄으로서 보다 뛰어난 감도를 가진 센서를 구현하고자 하였다. 광섬유 음향 센서용 맨드릴을 외경 요철형, 중공 원통형, 내경 요철형등의 세 가지로 분류하고 이의 고유진동수와 고유 모드를 해석하였다. 2kHz 미만의 고유진동수는 제외하고 주로 2~20kHz 범위 내에 속한 고유진동수를 검출하여 고유모드를 나타내었다. 설계된 맨드릴의 기본 형상 치수는 외경 30 mm, 길이 50mm이다. 원통의 두께는 1 mm이며 요철의 크기는 $2mm{\times}2mm$이다. 유한요소해석 결과 외부 음압 주파수가 2~20 kHz 범위에서 11 kHz 인근의 주파수인 경우 외경 요철형과 중공 원통형의 맨드릴을 선택하면 높은 감도를 얻을 수 있다. 17 kHz 인근 주파수에서는 외경 요철형과 내경 요철형이 유리하며 20 kHz인근에서는 중공 원통형과 내경 요철형이 높은 감도를 얻을 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 변압기 내에 삽입되어 각종 열화 진단용 모니터링 센서로 활용되는 광섬유 음향 센서의 맨드릴 설계에 매우 효과적으로 이용할 수 있으며 본 연구에서 제시한 기법을 이용하여 MHz 단위의 초음파 감지에도 충분히 활용될 수 있으리라 기대된다.

  • Two-dimensional, angle-resolved LDV(Laser Doppler Velocimetry) measurements of the turbulent rotating flow field in a confined cylinder have been performed. The configurations of interest are flows between a rotating upper disk with a rod attached by a disk or impeller(${\theta}= 90^{\circ},\;45^{\circ}$) and a stationary lower disk in a confined cylinder. The mean flow velocity as well as the turbulent intensity of the flow field have been measured. The results show that the flow is strongly dependent on the position of the impellers or the disk, negligibly affected by the Reynolds number in turbulent flow. It is observed that the mixing effect of the axial flow impeller(${\theta}= 45^{\circ}$) is better than that of the radial flow impeller(${\theta}= 90^{\circ}$) or a disk.

직렬 및 병렬배열에서 2원주의 유체역학적 간섭 (Hydrodynamic Interference between Two Circular Cylinders in Tandem and Side by Side Arrangements)

  • The hydrodynamic interference between two circular cylinders in tandem and side by side arrangements was investigated by measuring of lift and drag on each cylinder. The time variations of interference lift and drag coefficients in each arrangement were observed at center-to-center pitch ratios of P/D=1.25 and 2.5 and Reynolds number of $Re=1.5\times10^4$. Average interference lift and drag coefficients were also observed at pitch ratios from P/D=1.25 to 2.5 and Reynolds number from $Re=1.5\times10^4$ to $1.5\times10^4$. The hydrodynamic interference between two circular cylinders differed with the shape of the arrangement and the pitch ratio, but the characteristics were revealed by measuring of lift and drag on each cylinder.

  • This paper reports on the theoretical analysis on the lubrication characteristics between the piston ring and the grooved cylinder liner. The circular shape piston ring and two types grooves are consider, and the minimum oil film thickness during the full engine cycle are obtained by using iterative technique. The comparative results of minimum oil film thickness and viscous friction force between the smooth and grooved liner are presented. And various design parameter of piston ring and liner groove are tested. The groove in the liner generally reduces the minimum value of minimum oil film thickness, but the maximum viscous friction force is increased at the minimum film position.

직접분사식 디젤기관의 연소실내 공기유동강화가 연소과정에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Combustion Process by Intensifying the Air Flow in Combustion Chamber of D.I. Diesel Engine)

  • The performance of a direct-injection type diesel engine often depends on the strength of air flow in the cylinder, shape of combustion chamber, the number of nozzle holes, etc. This is of course because the process of combustion in the cylinder was affected by the mixture formation process. In the present paper, high speed photography was employed to investigate the effectiveness of holes penetrated from the bottom of cavity wall to piston crown for some more useful utilization of air. The holes would function to improve mixing of fuel and air by the increase of air flow in the cylinder. The results obtained are summarized as follows, (1) Activated first of the combustion by shorten of ignition timing and rapid flame propagation (2) Raised the combustion peak pressure, more close to TDC the formation timing of peak pressure.

  • The performance of a direct-injection type diesel engine often depends on the shape of combustion chamber, strength of swirl or squish, the number of nozzle holes, etc. This is of course because the process of combustion in the cylinder was affected by the mixture formation process. In this paper, the relation betweeen the flame progress and the performance of engine was clarified by changing variously the combustion process in cylinder with a special method, and thus the measures for improving the combustion were indirectly examined. Namely it was investigated what effect the flame progress in cylinder, which was varied with the locality of the lean premixture injected by the auxiliary injection method using an auxiliary injection nozzle in advance at the place where main spray was injected later, has on the engine output, the exhaust smoke density and the NO concentration in exhaust gas.

Wind pressures on different roof shapes of a finite height circular cylinder

  • The effects of finite cylinder free end shape on the mean and fluctuating wind pressures were investigated experimentally and numerically by using three different roof shapes: flat, conical and hemispherical. The pressure distributions on the roofs and the side walls of the finite cylinders partially immersed in a simulated atmospheric boundary layer have been obtained for three different roof shapes. Realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was used for numerical simulations. Change in roof shapes has caused significant differences on the pressure distributions. When compared the pressure distributions on the different roofs, it is seen from the results that hemispherical roof has the most critical pressure field among the others. It is found a good agreement between numerical and experimental results.

  • An adhesively bonded power steering cylinder with a steel tube and an aluminum bracket was developed to reduce the weight of steering systems. To achieve the joint strength between the steel tube and of the aluminum bracket, the shape aluminum bracket re-designed by using the FE-analysis. Fracture behavior of the adhesive layer was considered by a cohesive zone model(CZM), which is based on the two-parameter fracture phenomenon with critical stress and fracture toughness. From the result of FE-analysis with CZM, re-designed power steering cylinder satisfied the desired joint strength for axial and torsion modes. And its joint strength was verified by the fracture test in each mode.

4 사이클 4기통 전기점화기관의 흡배기관내의 압력변동에 관한 연구 (A study on the pressure variation in the intake and exhaust pipes of four cycle four cylinder S.I. engine)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the flow through the intake and exhaust system of a spark ignition engine. The flow was assumed to be one-dimensional, compressible and unsteady, and carburetor, muffler, valve and junction are modelled as boundary conditions according to their flow characteristics. In the experiment, four cylinder gasoline engine is used and the pressures in the intake and exhaust pipes and in the cylinder are measured and compared with the results of numerical analysis. In consequence of the comparison, four periods of pressure wave in a cycle are observed in both case of experiment and prediction. In case of exhaust pipe, the results obtained from the experiment are in accord with that from calculation. The results of the intake system show some differences with each other due to the complication in shape, but the periods of both case concur well.
