Heavy duty coating are required to have minimum durable period of 15 years under average usage environment because these paints are coated with purpose of anti-corrosion, antifouling, plastering etc. Onto steel structures constructed upon land and sea and other ferrous structures of electric power generation plants, electricity transmission towers, large structures of various plants, etc. Therefore we tried to estimate heavy duty coating longevity through reliability evaluation method and used combined cyclic anti-conrrosion test method composed of drying, moisturizing and salt spray as for accelerated life test to estimate longevity. Accelerated life test hours to heavy duty coating of first grade (with longevity not less than 15 years) specification may be obtained from troubleless test hours $t_n=\frac{B_p}{n^{1/\beta}}\left[\frac{1n(1-CL)}{1n(1-p)} \right]^{1/\beta}=19.671$ (yr) where shape parameter $\beta=1.1$, confidence level CL=80 %, warranty life $B_{10}=15$ yr and sampling size n=10 (2 sets). Because acceleration factor {AF} found by accelerated test is 41.7, accelerated life test hours required may be represented about 4,132 hr so that if this amount of hours is converted to number of cycles(6 hr/cycle) of complex cycle corrosion resistance test then the amount is tantamount about 690 cycles. That means if there does not occur trouble failure (with defect factor sum not more than 20) during when there is performed 690 cycles of combined cyclic anti-corrosion test to heavy duty coating specimen then it signifies that there can be warranted longevity $B_{10}$ of 15 yr under condition of confidence level CL=80 %.

Copper is a well known alloying element that is used to improve the resistance to general corrosion of stainless steel And also Cu cation have the anti-fouling effect to inhibit adhesion of the marine algae and shellfish to the surface of heat exchanger cooling pipe or outside wall of the ship, Therefore there are some anti-fouling methods such as anti-fouling Paint mixed with copper oxide or MGPS(Marine Growth Preventing System) by using Cu cation dissolved to the sea wather solution. Cu cation can be dissolved spontaneously by galvanic current due to Potential difference between Cu and cooling pipe of heat exchanger with Ti material, which may be one of the anti-fouling designs. In this study the effect of annealing heat treatment to galvanic current and Polarization behavior was investigated with a electrochemical points of view such as measurement of corrosion Potential, anodic polarization curve. cyclic voltammetric curve, galvanic current etc The grain size of the surface in annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ was the smallest than that of other annealing temperatures. and also the corrosion Potential showed more positive potential than other annealing temperatures. The galvanic current between Ti and Cu with annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ was the largest value in the case of static condition. However its value in the case of flow condition was the smallest than the other temperatures. Therefore in order to increase anti-fouling effect by Cu cation, the optimum annealing temperature in static condition of sea water is $700^{\circ}C$, however non- heat treated specimen in the case of flow condition may be desirable.

This paper presents electrochemical corrosion behaviors of cement mortar specimens in the high salinity condition. Chloride ion is known as the most detrimental parameter to cause the corrosion in reinforced concrete. Increasing the concrete cover thickness is one of the corrosion protection methods against chloride ion; so, this study mainly focuses on the effects of mortar cover thickness on corrosion protection. In specimens, rebar, which was a height of 200 mm and a diameter of 10 mm, was installed at the center of the small size form. Later on, mortar was injected into the form, and 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mm of the different mortar cover thicknesses were selected. Potential measurements, linear polarization resistance tests, and cyclic potentiodynamic polarization tests were performed for specimens that were exposed to seawater. These results were compared with visual inspection results of rebar. The results show that an increase in the cover thickness contributes to corrosion protection. In addition, the result of electrochemical corrosion tests generally agreed with that of an autopsy visual inspection.
The Ni base superalloy Mar-M247 substrate was aluminized or aluminized after boronizing by the pack cementation under Ar atmosphere. The hot corrosion resistance and after-heat-treatment effect of aluminized specimens were studied by the cyclic hot corrosion test in $Na_2SO_4$-NaCl molten salt. XRD analysis showed that the $Ni_2Al_3$ phase was formed between the coated layer and substrate below 1273K but the NiAl phase above 1273K. The peak of the NiAl phase was developed after heat treatment. Corrosion test showed that corrosion resistance of the specimen with the NiAl phase was better than that with the $Ni_2Al_3$ phase. Corrosion resistance could be improved by heat treatment to form ductile NiAl phase, where cracks were not formed by thermal shock on coating layer. Moreover, it appeared that heat treatment played a role to improve corrosion resistance of Al diffusion coating above 1273K. The existence of boron in the Al diffusion coating layer obstructed outwared diffusion of Cr from the substrate, and it influenced on corrosion resistance of the coating layer by weakening adherence of the oxide scale.
It should be noted that the critical chloride threshold level is not considered to be a unique value for all conditions. This value is dependent on concrete mix proportions, cement type and constituents, presence of admixtures, environmental factors, reinforcement surface conditions, and other factors. In this study, the accelerated corrosion test for reinforcing steel was conducted by electrochemical and cyclic wet and dry seawater method, respectively and during the test, corrosion monitoring by half-cell potential method was carried out to detect the time to initiation of corrosion for individual test specimen. For this purpose, lollypop and right hexahedron test specimens were made for 31%, 42%, and 50% of W/C, respectively, and then the accelerated corrosion test for reinforcing steel was executed. It was observed from the test that the time to initiation of corrosion was found to be different with the water-cement ratio and accelerated corrosion test method, respectively and the critical chloride threshold values were found to range from 0.91 to $1.47kg/m^3$.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the corrosion fatigue crack growth of PWTHT specimens(SS41, SM53B) which are the compact tension ones extracted from the muti-passed weldment and weld block. The corrosion fatigue test was done at the cyclic stress frequency of 3Hz in 3.5% NaCl solution. The results are as follows. 1. Corrosion fatigue crack growth of as-weld was slower than that of base metal. 2. In the low .DELTA.K region, the effect of corrosion environment on crack growth was obvious. However, the corrosion effect decreased with the .DELTA.K slowly. 3. The behaviour of fatigue and corrosion fatigue crack growth depended on the material, heat treatment as well as experimental conditions. 4. Corrosion fatigue crack growth of PWHT specimens(SS41, SM53B) subjected to 1/4hr, was increased compared with that of as-weld. 5. There was a tendency that the exponent value(m) obtained in 3.5% NaCl solution was decreased in comparison with that in air, and the material constant(C)was increased for Paris equation, da/dN=C((.DELTA.K))$^{m}$ , compared with that in air considerably.
In this study, we examined corrosion behaviors of two types of Pb alloys for a lead acid battery comparatively. One containing 6.6 wt% Sn, 36 mg/kg Bi, and 612.4 mg/kg Ca was prepared by twin-roll continuous casting. The other containing 5.2 wt% Sn, 30.5 mg/kg Ag, and 557 mg/kg Ca was made by twin-belt continuous casting. Potentiodynamic polarization tests were performed to evaluate corrosion resistance. Cyclic voltammetry was done to examine oxidation and reduction reactions occurring on the surface of each alloy in 4.8 M H2SO4 solution. Electrochemical test results implied that the Pb alloy prepared with the twin-belt casting method was less stable than that cast with the twin-roll method. Such results might be due to precipitations formed during the casting process. Rolling did not appear to affect the corrosion behavior of the twin-roll samples with Ag < 10 mg/kg, while it reduced the anodic reaction of Ag on the surface of the twin-belt sample with 30.5 mg/kg Ag.

This study investigated the chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking (CISCC) behavior expected to occur in welds of austenitic stainless steel, which are considered candidate materials for dry storage containers for spent nuclear fuel. The behavior was studied by varying temperature, relative humidity (RH), and chloride concentration. 304L-ER308L welded plates were processed into U-bend specimens and exposed to a cyclic corrosion chamber for 12 weeks. The CISCC behavior was then analyzed using electron microscopy. A previous study by the authors confirmed that CISCC occurred in ER308L at 60 ℃, 30% RH, and 0.6 M NaCl via selective corrosion of δ-ferrite. When the temperature was lowered from 60 ℃ to 50 ℃, CISCC still occurred. However, when the humidity was reduced to 20% RH, CISCC did not happen. This can be attributed to the retardation of the deliquescence of NaCl at lower humidity, which was insufficient to promote CISCC. Furthermore, increased chloride concentration to 1.0 M resulted in the absence of CISCC and widespread surface corrosion with severe pitting corrosion because of the increase in thin film thickness.
The atmospheric corrosion performance of Al-alloying, Si-alloying and Al-Si-alloying steel were studied by wet/dry cyclic corrosion tests (CCT) at $30^{\circ}C$ and 60% relative humidity (RH). The corrosion electrolyte used for CCT was 0.052 wt% $NaHSO_{3}$ (pH~4) solution. The result of gravimetry demonstrated that Al-Si-bearing steels showed lower corrosion resistance than other rusted steels. But the rusted 0.7%Si-alloying steel showed a better corrosion resistance than rusted mild steel. Polarization curves demonstrated that Al-/Si-alloying and Al-Si-alloying improved the rest potential of steel at the initial stage; and accelerated the cathodic reduction and anodic dissolution after a rust layer formed on the surfaces of steels. XRD results showed that Al-Si-alloying decreased the volume fraction of $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ and $\alpha-FeOOH$. The recycle of acid accelerated the corrosion of steel at the initial stage. After the rust layer formed on the steel, the leak of rust destabilized the rust layer due to the dissolution of compound containing Al (such as $FeAl_{2}O_{4}$, $(Fe,\;Si)_{2}(Fe,\;Al)O_{4}$). Al-Si-alloying is hence not suitable for improving the anti-corrosion resistance of steel in industrial atmosphere.
