Background: DNA content analysis of human solid tumor is now widely performed by flow cytometric study. One of the most interesting and potentially important observation in this field is that proliferative activity(S-Phase fraction of cell cycle) may profoundly affect the prognosis. Method: S-Phase fraction(SPF) have been measured by flow cytometric method using tumor cells isolated from paraffin embedded tissue. To evaluate the prognostic significance, SPF of small lung cancer cell was assessed in 42 patients who died after receiving anticancer chemotherapy. Results: 1) Mean survival time of patients with small cell lung cancer was 190(${\pm}156$) days. Survival time were shortened, when TNM stage and PS scale were advanced. 2) Mean value of SPF of patients with small cell lung cancer was 27.4(${\pm}8.5$)%. SPF had nothing to do with advance of TNM stage and PS scale. 3) In each identical TNM stage, there were not statistic significance between SPF and survival times. 4) There was a tendency like that higher SPF, better chemotherapeutic response. Conclusion: We could not find statistic significance between SPF and survival times, but SPF was a good predictive factor for chemotherapeutic response.

In this study, the effect of pre-curing process on the enhancement of mechanical properties of IGCC-slag-based-geopolymer was studied. Pre-curing is a process in which the green geopolymer is left at room temperature for a certain period of time prior to the high-temperature curing, and it is known as increasing the strength of a specimen. Therefore, in this experiment, the compressive strength of the geopolymers was measured according to various pre-curing conditions, and microstructure and crystal phase changes were observed by SEM and XRD, respectively. The W/S ratio was determined to be 0.26, which can offer the maximum geopolymer strength with easy molding ability, and the concentration of the alkali solution was 15 M. Pre-curing was performed at room temperature for 0 to 27 days. Compressive strength of the geopolymer made with pre-curing process increased by 36~87 % compared with the specimens made with no pre-curing process. Those improved compressive strength for the pre-cured geopolymer was confirmed owing to promotion effect of pre-curing process on generation of C-S-H gel and zeolite phases, which were analyzed using by XRD and SEM measurement.
During the rapid phase of gonadal development of the freshwater teleost, the catfish (Silurus asotus), the influence of hCG upon the inducement of final oocyte maturation and spawning was investigated electrophoretically and ultrastructurally. The electrophoretic patterns obtained were different in the presence and absence of some of the major or minor zones, because of the hormone level in catfish. The vitellogenin of hormone-treated fish was stained more intensively than that of sham-treated fish. These proteins showed some minor or main bands of egg extracts which migrated at positions corresponding to molecular weights of approximately 90,000. However, the thickness of electrophoretic band in molecular weight for hCG-treated fish was slightly lower than that for saline control. It seemed the plasma protein with molecular weight of approximately 45,000 in hCG-treated fish disappeared. In contrast to the control fish, the ovaries in the catfish treated with hCG shows a marked ultrastructural change under the electron microscope. No dilated profiles were seen in the granulosa cells of the mature oocyte before ovulation. After germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD), the zona radiata interna (ZRI) becomes more compact, and there is a loss of all the processes from the pore canals. There is a wide space between the vitelline membrane and zona radiata. Also, during final maturation, the microvillar processes from the oocyte are seen no longer to penetrate deeply into the extracellular spaces of the overlying granulosa cells, and the reticulate patterns of the zona radiata interna becomes occluded, giving the zona radiata a more solid appearance. It has been possible to initiate 100% oocyte maturation in yolk granules and follicles in vivo by treatment with hCG and a high water temperature ($27^{\circ}C$). In hCG-treated fish, the percentages of successful artificial fertilization and hatching were maximal at 15 h after a single injection. It seems clear that a long acting preparation containing hCG can be successfully used in prespawning fish to advance the final events of gonadal maturation and initiate spawning. Further studies are necessary to evaluate the potential of hCG to either stimulate or inhibit the reproductive development of fish at other stages of the seasonal reproductive cycle.
One of the greatest challenges for our society is providing powerful electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells are among the most promising candidates in terms of energy and power density. As the starting material, $TiCl_4{\cdot}YCl_3$ solution and dispersing agent (HCP) were mixed and synthesized using ammonia as the precipitation agent, in order to prepare the nano size Y doped spherical $TiO_2$ precursor. Then, the $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was synthesized using solid state reaction method through the stoichiometric mixture of Y doped spherical $TiO_2$ precursor and LiOH. The Ti mole increased the concentration of the spherical particle size due to the addition of HPC with a similar particle size distribution in a well in which $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ spherical particles could be obtained. The optimal synthesis conditions and the molar ratio of the Ti 0.05 mol reaction at $50^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes and at $850^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours heat treatment time were optimized. $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ was prepared by the above conditions as a working electrode after generating the Coin cell; then, electrochemical properties were evaluated when the voltage range of 1.5V was flat, the initial capacity was 141 mAh/g, and cycle retention rate was 86%; also, redox reactions between 1.5 and 1.7V, which arose from the insertion and deintercalation of 0.005 mole of Y doping is not a case of doping because the C-rate characteristics were significantly better.

Polyurethane was used as matrix for polymer electrolytes with liquid electrolyte consist of organic solvent as ethylene carbonate(EC), propylene carbonate(PC), and tetraethylene glycol dimethylether(TG) and 1M $LiCF_3SO_3$, which has high mechanical strength and porosity. Electrochemical properties fur polyurethane electrolytes with various liquid electrolytes were evaluated. The amount of immersed liquid electrolyte for TG with 1M $LiCF_3SO_3$ was increased to about $750\%$ by weight, and initial discharge capacity and cycle performance was better than others. Ionic conductivity for TG/EC(v/v,1:1) and PC/EC(v/v, 1:1) with 1M $LiCF_3SO_3$ was about $3.15\times10^{-3} S/cm, \;3.18\times10^{-3}S/cm$

In order to making resources for the organic wastes, it is very important to understand for the life cycle of wastes before the physicochemical analysis and engineering technology. Therefore we try to fine the solution through the interdisciplinary consilience between natural science and social science for the management of refuge in summer resort. Summer visitors of beach answered that fly tipping of refuse was 65.56% and insufficient separation was 17.78% about the survey. But insufficient separation was 42.5% and fly tipping was 37.5% in valley. The survey for the effective methods at reducing refuse was represented that campaign and teaching was 47.78%, fine was 23.33% and using the standard bags was 18.89% in beach. Campaign and teaching was 37.5%, using the standard bags was 37.5% and fine was 15% in valley. Bulk density of refuse in gyeongpo beach was measured in $74kg/m^{3}$. This value was three times as much low than municipal solid wastes. Moreover, the composition of refuses in beach showed that combustible materials was 81.1% and incombustible materials was 18.9%. Moisture, ash and combustibles were analyzed 19.0%, 9.2% and 91.8% respectively.

Modem drug discovery requires rapid pharmacokinetic evaluation of chemically diverse compounds for early candidate selection. This demands the development of analytical methods that offer high-throughput of samples. Naturally, liquid chromatography / tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is choice of the analytical method because of its superior sensitivity and selectivity. As a result of the short analysis time(typically 3-5min) by LC-MS/MS, sample preparation has become the rate- determining step in the whole analytical cycle. Consequently tremendous efforts are being made to speed up and automate this step. In a typical automated 96-well SPE(solid-phase extraction) procedure, plasma samples are transferred to the 96-well SPE plate, internal standard and aqueous buffer solutions are added and then vacuum is applied using the robotic liquid handling system. It takes only 20-90 min to process 96 samples by automated SPE and the analyst is physically occupied for only approximately 10 min. Recently, the ultra-high flow rate liquid chromatography (turbulent-flow chromatography)has sparked a huge interest for rapid and direct quantitation of drugs in plasma. There is no sample preparation except for sample aliquotting, internal standard addition and centrifugation. This type of analysis is achieved by using a small diameter column with a large particle size(30-5O ${\mu}$m) and a high flow rate, typically between 3-5 ml/min. Silica-based monolithic HPLC columns contain a novel chromatographic support in which the traditional particulate packing has been replaced with a single, continuous network (monolith) of pcrous silica. The main advantage of such a network is decreased backpressure due to macropores (2 ${\mu}$m) throughout the network. This allows high flow rates, and hence fast analyses that are unattainable with traditional particulate columns. The reduction of particle diameter in HPLC results in increased column efficiency. use of small particles (<2 urn), however, requires p.essu.es beyond the traditional 6,000 psi of conventional pumping devices. Instrumental development in recent years has resulted in pumping devices capable of handling the requirements of columns packed with small particles. The staggered parallel HPLC system consists of four fully independent binary HPLC pumps, a modified auto sampler, and a series of switching and selector valves all controlled by a single computer program. The system improves sample throughput without sacrificing chromatographic separation or data quality. Sample throughput can be increased nearly four-fold without requiring significant changes in current analytical procedures. The process of Bioanalytical Method Validation is required by the FDA to assess and verify the performance of a chronlatographic method prior to its application in sample analysis. The validation should address the selectivity, linearity, accuracy, precision and stability of the method. This presentation will provide all overview of the work required to accomplish a full validation and show how a chromatographic method is suitable for toxirokinetic sample analysis. A liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method developed to quantitate drug levels in dog plasma will be used as an example of tile process.
Impermeable surfaces such as transportation land uses including roads and parking lots accumulate high heavy metals and particulate matters concentration especially during dry season which worsens the river water quality and distort the water circulation system during rainfall events. Recently, the government has been promoting policies to install Low Impact Development (LID) facilities such as permeable pavements or grass blocks in parking lots or pavements. However, transition of asphalt-paved surfaces to permeable pavement generated asphalt wastes which are detrimental to the environment and has cost implications due to its removal and disposal. Therefore this study was conducted to provide a method of constructing a cost-effective permeable pavement to reduce waste generation and cost. In this study, comparative analysis of the water circulation capacity and economic efficiency of the traditional construction method and new method proposed in this study through the lab-scale experiment. The proposed method was to make holes in existing asphalt pavements, layout geotextile fabric and permeable base media such as sand before compaction. After compaction, layout grass blocks on the compacted base media then layout sand in between each grass blocks before compaction. Apparently, there was no significant difference between the traditional installation method of permeable pavement and the proposed method in this study considering surface runoff, infiltrated volume, stored volume, and rainfall-runoff delay time. The proposed method in this study generated 86% less wastes compared to the traditional installation method and has 70% cost reduction considering asphalt removal and disposal. The construction method proposed in this study yielded similar performance compared to the traditional installation method and water circulation effect, but was proven to be less complicated and economical.
The morphological development of Mycoplasma pneumoniae attached to solid surfaces was examined by light and electron microscopies. Critical point drying and carbon replication techniques revealed that during the growth cycle of developing microcolonies, the morphological form coincided with the pH of the culture. M. pneumoniae appeared to have a well defined morphology associated with age of the culture. The organisms were dimorphic, with round cells capable of reproduction and segments consisting of a spindle shaped body with one pointed and one knob-like end. Starting with single cells, there were the following stages in the development of a culture: replication stage through binary fission and segmentation, stage of confluency, and a degeneration stage into rough spherical forms. The round cells appearrd to replicate by binary fission during the lag and early log phases of growth, while spindle segments replicated by segmentation during most of the logarithmic growth. The growth of the filaments and replication of the segments occured at the knob-like ends, showing a type of polarity, and formed a meshwork across the surface. This development could be cycled under favorable growth conditions, but the culture aged and when the conditions became adverse(e.g. pH 6.8 or lower), filamentous cells converted to spherical forms, losing their reproductive capability.

Especially, Radon gas released from asbestos can exist everywhere on earth, released soil and rock as radioactive substances, can be caused lung cancer followed by a smoking. When pollution source to indoor air quality that lacking ventilation rate of the residential building moved in a cycle, human responses such as headache, dizziness, etc. get appear, so on it threatened resident's physical condition. Thus, we need to urgent attention to reduction harmful substance. In the case of radon gas of the pollution source to indoor air quality in housing, it has characteristic that keep on going through half-life released from source, we need to control radon gas source than source removal. We set on vermiculite addition ratio to 10% which has harmful substances adsorption performance, proceed experiment to basalt waste rock addition ratio 50, 60, 70, 80(%). The result of an experiment, based on 'KS F 4035, precast terrazzo', we can be obtainable in the best terrazzo at basalt waste rock addition ratio 70%.
