  • Fine-Blanking is an advanced and precision stamping process, by which a component with precise geometry and smooth cut surface can be produced without any further major secondary operations. By applying the Fine-Blanking technology, the significant improvement of the component should be obvious. As the components are with good shape, smooth surface and precise size, they can be ready for assembly without any further secondary operations. The productivity is increased, the production cycle time and the component cost are significantly reduced. We apply the fine-Blanking for chain sprocket. And do Mecanical test for compress strenth. impaact, roughness, Brinell hardness, dimensional stability.

  • A methodology which supports the feature used from design to manufacturing for sculptured pocket is newly devlored and present. The information contents in a feature can be easily conveyed from one application to another in the manufacturing domain. However, the feature generated in one application may not be directly suitable for another whitout being modified with more information. Theobjective of the paper is to parsent the methodology of decomposing a bulky feature of sculptured pocket to be removed into compact features to be efficiently machined. In particular, the paper focuses on the two task: 1) to segment horizontally a bulky feature into intermediate features by determining the adequate depth of cut and cutter size and to generate the temporal precedence graph of the intermediate features and 2)to further decompose each intermediate feature vertical into smaller manufacturing features and to apply the variable feed rate to each small feature. The proposed method will provid better efficiency in machining time and cost than the classical method which uses a long string of NC codes necessary to remove a bulky fecture.

  • Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is one of the most extensively used non-conventional material removal process. The recent trend in reducing the size of product has given micro EDM a significant amount of research attention. Micro EDM is capable of machining not only micro holes and micro shafts as small as a few micrometers in diameter but also complex three dimensional micro cavities. But, longitudinal tool wear by electrical discharge is indispensable and this affects the machining accuracy in micro EDM process. Therefore, newly developed tool wear compensation strategy called round trip method is suggested and verified by experiment. In this method, machining depth of cut, overlap effect and critical travel length are also considered.

  • Micro cutting of titanium alloy by polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tools was studied. Micro electro discharge machining (MEDM) was used to fabricate customized micro shaping tools from PCD blank. The tool was used to machine micro grooves on Ti alloy and the effects of depth of cut and machining length on tool wear, burr and surface roughness were studied. The shaping tool has cutting edge of a few ${\mu}m$. The crater size of the tool surface was increased with increasing capacitance of EDM machining conditions, which was used to control the surface roughness of the machined micro grooves.

  • In this paper, a study on low-velocity impact response of honeycomb sandwich panels was done for the changes of impact location and core fabrication angles. The test specimens were made of glass/epoxy laminate facesheet and aluminum honeycomb core. Square samples of 100mm and 100mm sides were subjected under low-velocity impact loading using instrumented testing machine at three energy levels. Impact parameters like maximum force, time to maximum force, deflection at maximum force and absorbed energy were evaluated and compared for the changes of impact location and core fabrication angle. The impact damage size were measured at facesheet surface by 3-Dimensional scanner. Also, sandwich specimens after impact test were cut to analyse the failure mode.

  • This paper is aimed at determining the shear and impact strength of waste plastic fibre reinforced concrete. M30 grade of concrete is prepared with waste plastic door fibres cut into 5 mm width and aspect ratios of 30, 50, 70, 90 and 110. Fibres are used in a volume fraction of 0 to 1.5% with an increment of 0.25%. L shaped specimens are cast for shear strength tests and flat plates of size $250{\times}250{\times}30mm$ are used for impact tests. "Drop ball method" is used for checking the impact strength. Shear strength is checked with L shaped specimens under UTM with a special attachment. It was found that up to 1.25% of waste plastic fibres can be effectively used for better strength of concrete both in shear and impact. Shear and impact strength were found to be increasing up to a volume fraction of fibres of 1.25%.

  • A new partitioning algorithm has been developed to implement a large circuit by using multiple field programmable gate array (FPGA) chips. While the conventional partitioning is to minimze the number of nets cut under size constraints, partitioning for multiple FPGAs has several additional constraints so that each partitioned subcircuit can be implemented in a FPGA chip. To obtain satisfactory results under the constraints, the partitioning is performed in two steps whhich are the intial partitioning for global optimization and the iterative partitioning improvements for constraint satisfaction. Experismental results using the MCNC benchmark examples show that our partition method produces better results thatn those of other recent approaches on the average.

  • In the Over-The-Range, the outlet size is limited by the industrial standards. Therefor to enlarge the volume of cavity, the installation height of ventilation fan is become small, the system resistance is higher than before. For that reason, the important design variables such as the diameter of a fan, the scroll expansion angle, etc. which play the significant role on flow rate and noise, are confined. In this study, we made an experiment of the diameter of fans relation to scroll expansion angle and investigated flow rate of the length of fans in enlarged cavity volume of OTR, and then we designed the new scroll to improve the flow rate and noise level. As a result, flow rate increased to 110% compared to current scroll and the blade passing frequency of a fan is disappeared by inclined cut-off shapes.

  • Under the new environmental regulations announced by the government, utilities will have to cut their sulfur dioxide emissions by 60% from 1991 levels by the year of 1999. Sulfur dioxide emissions can be reduced prior to combustion by physical, chemical or biological coal cleaning. The new technology of high gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) offers the potential of economic separatoins of a variety of fine, weakly magnetic minerals including inorganic sulfur and many ash-forming minerals from coals. In the present paper, magnetic separation tests have been conducted on Korean anthracite and high-sulfur Chinese coal to investigate the feasibility of these techniques for reducing sulfur content from coals. In wet magnetic separation, the studied operating parameters include particle size, pH, matrix types, feed solids content, feed rate, number of cleaning stages and etc. The results shows that for wet separation, 60~70% of total sulfur was removed from coals with over 80% combustible recovery, on the other hand, for dry separation, 47.6% of total sulfur was removed from coals with 75% recovery.
