  • With the pervasiveness of digital environment and expansion of new media, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) leads the role of consumer to change from a passive customer into an active co-producer. As customer participation in the fashion industry increases, this study attempts to explore the cases of customer participation as a co-producer in fashion industry through analyzing business models of companies, including Threadless, Blank label, Cut on Your Bias, Acustom Apparel, Thinkgivers. The results show that customer participation is mainly facilitated through design participation in fashion industry, with different level of participation and IT as well as different contribution target. Compared to the past, consumer’s preference is reflected through participation before the stage of production. Results indicate three main characteristics of customer participation in fashion industry. First, value co-creations using customer experiences and understanding customer needs are important. Second, active online communication among customers are critical. Third, it is important to ensure customer’s own item. From a customer perspective, participation enables them to purchase their own distinctive product and offers exciting experience and satisfaction over the production processes, and compensation can be used to increase customer participation. On the other hand, companies using customer participation can take advantage of cost reduction in product development, inventory, and marketing. Customer participation, as a win-win strategy for business and consumer, is expected to expand further in the future with the development of ICT.

  • The concept of customer utility, which affects customer's adoption, is important to understand the process of technology diffusion and substitution regarding multiple generation technology. This research defined the concept of attribute-based customer utility and developed a model for measuring attribute-based customer utility. Based on the literature review and modeling, we provided the definition and a model regarding customer utility and the accuracy of the model is verified through a case study of the semiconductor industry. Customer utility for a multiple generation technology needs to consider changes by generation, or time within the same generation, and is defined as the summation of both technological and economic utilities. In addition, we can model the measurement of customer utility after converting technological and economical attributes into utilities. This research is valuable in understanding not only customer utility as a driver of customer adoption, but also for establishing technological strategy after forecasting diffusion and substitution paths based on customer utility.

  • In recent years, as the operations of the ports are privatized, the operators in the ports are competing in order to host more customers. Under such circumferences, it is preferred that the operators set plans to provide the customized services to the customers by precisely recognizing and analyzing the needs of the customers for the bright futures of the ports rather than to host the customers by just lowering the freights. The present studies aimed to analyze on how the service capabilities of the ports affect the customer's trust, the customer's satisfaction and the repurchase intention have extracted the variables and the measurement items from a lot of the preceding studies conducted on the other industries, part of which were modified depending on the views from the ports and the statuses of the ports, so the measurements were conducted.
