The purpose of this study was to develop a scale for evaluation of early childhood programs in Korea. The procedures included content validation and a pilot test. A total of 192 items in 10 major areas was developed based on the review of literature and discussions with professionals in early childhood education. The 10 areas include: scheduling, curriculum, interation, physical environment, materials, nutrition, health and safety, administration, staff qualifications, relationships with parents, and evaluation. The pilot scale was administered to 428 classroom teachers and directors, and 47 college professors in early childhood education. The items were rated on a 3-point scale in terms of importance as evaluation criteria. The methods for data analysis included item means and standard deviations for content validation, Cronbach ${\alpha}$ for reliability, and factor analysis for construct validity. Most items in 10 areas were rated as moderate to highly important (average 2.3), especially items in curriculum and staff qualifications. Two factors emerged from the data: institutional management, and curricular planning and implementation. The Cronbach ${\alpha}$ levels were .70 or higher in most areas, but the range covers from .48 to .91. Based on the pilot data, 143 items were selected for the second year study.
This study attempts to develop e-learning contents for the "fashion information analysis," which should be performed in combination of theory and practice in fashion education, in a recent Web-based education environment. The e-learning contents are developed by using the three steps of analysis, design and development. In order to analyze the requirements of curricula, the status and content of fashion information related curricular provided by general universities and cyber universities are analyzed, and then on the basis of this analysis the education objectives and detailed contents of e-learning contents are determined. Design and development of e-learning contents consist of the types, education menus and education form. The types of e-learning contents are developed into an education form combined with tutorial and practice/activity types. The education menus are comprised of syllabic, the profiles of professors and students, announcements, questions and answers regarding respect subjects, materials, and notes. Meanwhile, the education form consists of the following sections: "Before the Learning", "Learning", "Review Questions", "Final Review", "References", and "Practice", "Before the Learning" consists of two parts of a theory lecture that is composed of video clips and Power-Point presentations, and practice that consists of an audio(or video) lecture and illustration or Photoshop software execution window.

This study investigated the common features of the best practices in the science classroom, which is the core of school education. The underlying assumption of this research is that the fulfillment of school education is possible with substantial instruction of school curricular areas. The substantial learning of any curricular area depends on each classroom lesson. Data from classroom observations in-depth interviews with teachers and a group of students, a collection of instructional materials were used to extract common characteristics of best practices implemented by 10 exemplary secondary-school science teachers. Common features of best science practices were analyzed in terms of (1)reorganization of science content, (2)pedagogical skills, (3)evaluation, and (4)teachers' efforts for professional development. Results indicated that exemplary science teachers adapted curriculum and textbook content according to students' level and learning context, were able to use a variety of instructional methods and strategies, provided cooperative and intellectually challenging learning environment, and improved their instruction based on assessment results. Also, these exemplary teachers not only improved their own classroom practices, but also participated actively in various professional community of science teachers to share their practical knowledge with their colleagues. They took an active role in teachers' in-service education.

The clinical dental hygiene field by university was indicated the totally average credit in 27.5 for 4-year university and in 35.0 for 3-year university. The integrated curriculum was indicated to be established dental hygiene practice(3 universities), dental clinics practice for Dept. of clinical dental hygiene(2 universities), and comprehensive dental hygiene practice(1 university) for 4-year university, and to be established clinical dental hygiene(2 universities), comprehensive dental hygiene practice, dental hygiene practice, and dental clinics practice(1 university, respectively) for 3-year university. Comparing the teaching courses by university, they were established diversely from 8 credits to 2 credits. Conclusions : Seeing the above findings, a plan for dental hygiene curriculum needs to be continuously developed so that dental hygienists can enter upon a professional career. Development in the international standard curriculum proper for global era is considered to be desperately needed.
This research was to verity the effects of ICT teaching method in high school home economics. The research questions for this study were as follows: 1. Is the ICT teaching method effective in increasing students' interest in home economics and consciousness on traditional culture in teaming the unit of ‘Korean traditional culture of home life’? 2. Is the ICT teaching method effective in improving students' achievement test and performance assessment in teaming the unit of ‘Korean traditional culture of home life’? This study is carried out with following procedure: developing the homepage and lesson plans for ICT teaching, constructing questionnaire, and testing its reliability, pre-testing, treatment for 8 weeks, and post-testing. Two groups were arranged for 8 weeks experiment from May 7,2001 through June 30,2001. Sixteen hours of ICT teaching and 8 hours of traditional lecture for experiment group whereas 8 hours of ICT teaching and 16 hours of traditional lecture for comparison group were input. SAS program was used for statistical analysis, and independent sample t-test and matched pairs t-test were peformed for answering research questions. The results of this study were as following: 1. Sixteen hours of ICT teaching and 8 hours of traditional lecture for experiment group was effective in increasing consciousness on traditional culture and performance assessment. 2. Eight hours of ICT teaching and 16 hours of traditional lecture for comparison group was not effective in learning home economics. This means that at least 2 hours of ICT teaching is demanding for effective learning. This study concluded that ICT teaching will be effectively applied in high school home economic with well developed ICT teaching materials. And home economics educators should continuously put effort in developing curricular, teaching materials, and teaching methods to raise students' interest in home economics.

In 1987 Ministry of Education published the 5th-revised version of curriculm, the main goal of which is to improve science and culture as well as to educate the students who are able to actively adapt to the 21st century's society. Howerver, the revised curriculum neglects the problems associated with the nature of and localized characteristics of science education. Therefore this research had its main objective to survey and analyze the status of science education of secondary schools in Kangwon Province and, based on the results, to develop the teaching/learning materials appropriate for science education in this province. This research is 3d-Year project and this paper is about its first year research results. The first year's main objective is to investigate and analyze the status of middle school science education, focusing on the curricular operation, science teachers, and lavoratory facilities and instruments. This research used the survey methods. The questionaires were sent to all the middle schools the number of which is 163, and 162 schools of which returned the survey questionaires. Based on the analyses of the data following conclusions were drawn. The average class size is 48.8 students. Almost all of the middle schools alocate the science class hours per week of 4,3,4 hours to first, second, third grade, respectively. However, the greater part of science teachers want 5,4,5 hours of science classes a week. Total number of science teachers exeeds the number actually needed, implicating that many science teachers are teaching non-major subjects. The lavoratory facilities and instruments are not sufficiently provided for lavoratory-based science education. Along with these conclusinons suggestions for better science educations are recommanded. Among the suggestions two are highly emphasized. They are: to increase science class hours; to use field lavoratory substituting for school lavoratory.
In this paper, it was investigated academic achievement whether any differences in accordance with the teaching methods in the materials processing section in 'technology and home economics' curricular. Target groups were compared to the eighth grade and ninth grade junior high school. Both eighth and ninth grade were selected for the first time learning the material processing section. The eighth grade was lessoned using the educational media, but the ninth grade was lessoned using writing. The results from the six questions, in one educational media utilization class got 71.1% correct answers, the other groups got 45.3% correct answers. The average percent correct differences between the two groups showed 25.8% points improvement in academic achievement.
This paper analyzed the topics dealing with three-dimensional figures in most recently revised mathematics textbooks on the basis of the national mathematics curriculum announced in 2007. First, the overall content was analyzed with regard to how textbooks were aligned to the curriculum as well as how the main elements including the definitions of specific solid figures were introduced and developed in different units across grades. Second, the instructional methods of three-dimensional figures were analyzed, which specifically revealed the lack of inquiry phase before introducing cones and pyramids. Third, the instructional methods to foster students' spatial sense with solid figures were analyzed, which showed the increased focus on the prediction and representation of figures. It is expected that the issues and suggestions from this study are informative revising curricular materials and applying them to the classroom.
This study was designed to explore pre-service secondary science teachers' understanding and views of argument-based inquiry approach. Participants were 17 pre-service secondary science teachers enrolled in chemistry curricular materials and teaching methods course for majors in the college of education at a university in Seoul. Main data sources included each student responses to an open ended survey and individual interviews. Data analyses indicated that the pre-service teachers had very limited and biased understanding on scientific inquiry at the beginning of the semester. While the pre-service teachers understood that scientific inquiry should be an essential component of science teaching, a few pre-service teachers mentioned 'argumentation' or 'discussions' when they defined what scientific inquiry is. The majority of the pre-service teachers mentioned that science should be taught through scientific inquiry since science is inquiry itself. However, the pre-service teachers expressed several potential barriers and their concerns on implementing argumentation in scientific inquiry. While they concerned about students' lack of participation at the beginning of the semester, they concerned more about the teachers' ability of leading student argumentation at the end of the semester.

The traditional programs developed by the existing CAI technique have the fixed curricular, which make it difficult to deliver various study materials that fit the learners of various levels. In addition, a lack of the flexibility prevents from helping to make their methodology in studying uniform open minded. In order to solve these problems, we have designed and implemented a learner interface that can exclude the limits in the learners active study in solving the fractional operation. In addition to the user interface, this study includes a diagnosis module that can intellectually extract the status of learners understanding, ostensible bugs, and the associated misconceptions through the interface. The experimentation based on the learner interface and the diagnosis module shows that this system correctly diagnoses the level of learners' understanding and the errors in learning, which greatly helps the individualized study.
