  • Current distributions according to electrode patterns in vertical structured InGaN/GaN LED (light emitting diode) were investigated quantitatively by utilizing three dimensional electrical circuit modeling method. The uniformity of the injected current density in the active layer was compared among different electrode patterns. It was found that the current uniformity was greatly dependent on the electrode pattern in vertical InGaN/GaN LEDs.

  • Permanent magnet movers with three different magnetization patterns were applied to a linear eddy current braking system. By using a two-dimensional analytical technique, this paper deals with the comparison of the design guidelines, magnetic field, required magnet volume, and force capability for three types of linear brakes. The analytical results are also verified by finite element analyses.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for the identification of relieving or worsening current traffic congestion using historic traffic congestion patterns. Historical congestion patterns were placed in an adjacency list. The patterns were constructed to represent spatial and temporal length for status of a congested road. Then, we found information about historical traffic congestions that were similar to today's traffic congestion and will use that information to show how to change traffic congestion in the future. The most similar pattern to current traffic status among the historical patterns corresponded to starting section of current traffic congestion. One of our experiment results had average error when we compared identified changes of the congestion for one of the sections in the congestion road by using our proposal and real traffic status. The average error was 15 minutes. Another result was for the long congestion road consisting of several sections. The average error for this result was within 10 minutes.

  • In this paper, a general fuzzy syntactic method for recognition of flaw patterns and for the measurement of flaw characteristic parameters for a non-destructive inspections signal, called eddy-current, is presented. Solutions are given to the subtasks of primitive pattern selection, signal to symbol transformation, pattern grammar formulation, and event-synchronous flaw pattern extraction based on the grammars. Fuzzy attribute grammars are used as the model for the pattern grammar because of their descriptive power in the face of uncertain constraints caused by nose or distortion in the signal waveform, due to their ability to handle syntactic as well as semantic information. This approach has been implemented and the performance of eh resultant system has been evaluated using a library of law patterns obtained from steam generator tubes in nuclear power plants by an eddy current-based non-destructive inspection method.

  • Until now, it is popular to use question-and-answer-based for human personality. The current inspection of representative personality types includes Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and job suitability evaluations. The problem of these inspection methods is influenced by the user's environment and psychological status during MBTI inspection. To solve this problem, we proposed MBTI Identification Model based on measuring bioelectricity patterns. We adapt traditional Korean medicine, the Eight Constitution, to this model. We develop an automatic MBTI identification algorithm that maps the Eight Constitution via biological current patterns to identify MBTI personality types. By utilizing the algorithm proposed in this research, it is anticipated that users will be able to measure MBTI more easily and accurately.

  • This paper aims at the precursor analysis and DB development of electrical fires based on thermal and current signals for partial disconnection and poor contact on electric wires through experiments and simulations. Also, DB system required for developing the precursor DB with these data was studied and designed. Firstly, in case of partial disconnection, characteristics were derived and analyzed by experiment and electrical-thermal finite element method(Flux 3D) on the model wires which consist of VCTF and IV electric wires. Based on the characteristics, About 351 partial disconnection precursor patterns were generated by the thermal analysis for electric wire according to deterioration time under normal state and 200% overload state of rated current. Secondly, in order to develop poor contact precursor patterns, temperature value and the current signal were considered. In simulating the poor contact situation on connector area of MCCB, connection torque was changed. Through the experimental analysis, about 251 poor contact precursor patterns were generated. Finally, Using thermal precursor patterns obtained by partial disconnection and poor contact, electrical fire thermal precursor DB was developed.

  • This study introduce to the fuzzy membership filter to cancel a high frequency noise of welding current. And ART2 which has the competitive learning network classifiers the signal patterns for the filtered welding signal. A welding current possesses a specific pattern according to the existence or the size of a welding gap. These specific patterns result in different classification in comparison with an occasion for no welding gap. The patterns In each case of 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, and no welding gap are identified by the artificial neural network. These procedure is an off-line execution. In on-line execution, the identification model of neural network for the classified pattern is located on ahead of the welding plant. And when the welding current patterns pass through the neural network in the direction of feedforward. it is possible to recognize the existence or the size of a welding gap.

  • Welding is essential for the manufacture of a range of engineering components which may vary from very large structures such as ships and bridges to very complex structures such as aircraft engines, or miniature components for microelectronic applications. Especially, a domestic situation of the welding automation is still depend on the arc sensing system in comparison to the vision sensing system. Specially, the gap-detecting of workpiece using conventional arc sensor is proposed in this study. As a same principle, a welding current varies with the size of a welding gap. This study introduce to the fuzzy membership filter to cancel a high frequency noise of welding current, and ART2 which has the competitive learning network classifies the signal patterns the filtered welding signal. A welding current possesses a specific pattern according to the existence or the size of a welding gap. These specific patterns result in different classification in comparison with an occasion for no welding gap. • The purpose of this study is to find sedimentation patterns variation in Saemangeum coastal sea region. Water circulations are calculated diagnostically from the observed water temperature and salinity data and wind data and tidal residual current. Three dimensional movements of injected particles due In currents, turbulence and sinking velocity are tracked by the Euler-lagrange method. Calculated sedimentation patterns of riverine material are highly similar to the observed ones.
