Observations by CTD castings, moored current meters and satellite imageries reveal some physical characteristics of the area around the tidal mixing front found in the mid-Yellow Sea off Korea. Tidal mixing is the greatest at the promontory of Taean Peninsula with a front around it. The front appears in April with the start of solar heating, becomes most clear in August and disappears in November with the start of surface cooling. In the north of the front, tidal fluctuations of temperature and salinity induced by tidal currents manifest the existence of the front, Differently from the usual tidal mixing front, the front in Kyunggi Bay is formed by presence of the water discharged from the Han River which meets the offshore water at the front. Near the surface cold center, vertically well-mixed zone extends to about 50 Km offshore from the coast, Farther south, this structure is generally retained but with lesser degree of vertical mixing. Within the relatively well-fixed coastal zone, the fresh water discharged from the Kum River makes another salinity front of smaller extent. At some places around this salinity front, an Upwelling-like feature is remarked.

In order to publicly notify the information security (Internet or Cyber) threat level, the security companies have developed the Threat Meters. As the physical security devices are getting more intelligent and can be monitored and managed through networks, we propose a physical security threat meter (PSTM) to determine the current threat level of physical security; that is a very similar compared with the one of information security. For this purpose, we investigate and prioritize the physical security events, and consider the impact of temporal correlation among multiple security events. We also present how to determine the threshold values of threat levels, and then propose a practical PSTM using the threshold based decision. In particular, we show that the proposed scheme is fully implementable through showing the block diagram in detail and the whole implementation processes with the access controller and CCTV+video analyzer system. Finally the simulation results show that the proposed PSTM works perfectly under some test scenarios.

Recently shield TBM tunnellings are being applied to subway construction in Korean cities. Generally these kinds of tunnellings have the problems in the stability of ground such as subsidence because urban subway is constructed in the shallow depth. A sinkhole occurred on the road just above the tunnel during tunneling in Kwangju, so a survey for upper layer of the tunnel was needed. But conventional Ground Probing Radar can't be applicable due to the presence of steel-mesh screen in the shield segment, so no existent geophysical method is applicable in this site. Because the outer surface of each shield segment is electrically insulated, dipole-dipole resistivity method which is popular in engineering site investigation, was tried to this survey for the first time. Specially manufactured flexible ring-type electrodes were installed into the grouting holes at an interval of 2.4 m on the ceiling. The K-Ohm II system which has been developed by KIGAM and tested successfully in many sites, was used in this site. The system consists of 1000Volt-1Ampere constant-current transmitter, optically isolated 24 bit sigma-delta A/D conversion receiver - maximum 12 channel simultaneous measurements, and graphical automatic acquisition software for easy data quality check in real time. Borehole camera logging with circular white LED lighting was also done to investigate the state of the layer. Measured resistivity data lack of some stations due to failing opening lids of holes, shows general high-low trend well. The dipole-dipole resistivity inversion results discriminate (1) one approximately 4 meter diameter cavity (grouted but incompletely hardened, so low resistivity - less than $30{\Omega}m$), (2) weak zone (100-200${\Omega}m$), and (3) hard zone (high resistivity - more than 1000${\Omega}m$) very well for the distance of 320 meters. The 2-D inversion neglects slight absolute 3-D effect, but we can get satisfactory and useful information. Acquired resistivity section and video tapes by borehole camera logging will be reserved and reused if some problem occurs in this site in the future.
In this research, the operational principle and the internal algorithm of theodolite measuring systems are studied and coded for a new software, and the feasibility of the laser system for the above mentioned usage is studied by simulation set-up of the system in the laboratory environment, and for the theodolite system modules for the communication between theodolite and computer is implemented, the data collection and storage, the simultaneous photogrammetric ' bundle ' adjustment for the theodolite position and the target points are coded, compiled and tested. for the simulation set-up of the laser system extensive studies on laser sources and laser detectors are performed, the system composition for the system simulation in the laboratory environment is studied and implemented, and the beam fluctuation due to the environmental changes in the course of the laser beam, such as changes in current of wind or in temperature is experimented. According to Experiment on the Source of 17 meters interval and the Detector, Laser beam is almost doesn't depend on air How, but it is effected by variations of temperature and light. Selecting cloudy day and time without change of temperature, it was realized that it is possible to perform deformation measurement more than approximately 2mm precision.precision.
Purpose: The aim of the current study was to examine the effects of hinged ankle-foot orthosis (HAFO) on walking function in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy (CP). Methods: Thirty-two children (mean age: $6.79{\pm}0.35years$, age range: 5-7 years) who were diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy participated in the study. Each subject typically walked through 10 meters of a gait platform with markers on the subject's proper body segments and underwent 3-D motion analysis system with and without hinged ankle-foot orthosis. The HAFOs were all custom-made for individual CP children and had plantarflexion stop at $0^{\circ}C$ with no dorsiflexion stop. The interventions were conducted over three trials in each group, and measurements were performed on each subject by one examiner in three trials. 3-D motion analysis system was used to measure gait parameters such as walking velocity, cadence, step-length, step-width, stride-length, and double support period in two conditions. Results: The walking velocity, cadence, step-length, and stride-length were significantly greater for the HAFO condition as compared to the no HAFO condition (p<0.05). However, no significant difference in step-width and double support period was observed between two conditions. Conclusion: These findings suggest that using the HAFO during walking would suggest positive evidence for improving the spatiotemporal parameters of gait in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.
Many seismically vulnerable regions in India and worldwide are located on deep soil deposits which extend to several hundred meters of depth. It has been well recognized that the earthquake shaking is altered by geological conditions at the location of building. As seismic waves propagates through uppermost layers of soil and rock, these layers serve as filter and they can increase the duration and amplitude of earthquake motion within narrow frequency bands. The amplification of these waves is largely controlled by mechanical properties of these layers, which are function of their stiffness and damping. Stiffness and damping are further influenced by soil type and thickness. In the current study, an attempt has been made to study the seismic site response of deep soils. Three hypothetical homogeneous soil models (e.g., soft soil, medium soil and hard soil) lying on bedrock are considered. Depth of half space is varied from 30 m to 2,000 m in this study. Controlled synthetic motions are used as input base motion. One dimensional equivalent linear ground response analyses are carried out using a computer package DEEPSOIL. Conventional approach of analysing up to 30 m depth has been found to be inadequate for deep soil sites. PGA values are observed to be higher for deeper soil profiles as compared to shallow soil profiles indicating that deeper soil profiles are more prone to liquefaction and other related seismic hazards under earthquake ground shaking. The study recommends to deal the deeper soil sections more carefully for estimating the amplification factors for seismic hazard assessment at the surface.

High-power semiconductor devices and microprocessors in factory electrical installation so sensitive to power quality measurements such as harmonic currents, voltage fluctuations, flicker, current imbalance. Therefore, the little change of power quality can influences the productivity of factory electrical machines. Troubleshooting these problems requires accurate measurements and analysis of power quality with monitoring instruments that can effectively locate issues and identify solutions. In this paper, the author presents hand-held power quality monitoring system to locate issues and identify solutions. The proposed system consists of two parts, One is to develop hand-held power meters by using NI(National Instrument) DAQ(Data Acquisition) and WLAN. Another is develop power quality monitoring MMI(Man-Machine Interface) using LabView software. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm, variable tests are carried out.
The toroidal field magnet power supply (TF MPS) for the KSTAR was constructed in August, 2007 and started the operation for the commissioning in March, 2008. The main role of the TF MPS is to supply the electric power to the TF magnet of the KSTAR. The water cooling components of the TF MPS are 16 stacks, busbar of 70 meters. For the cooling of the TF MPS, the D I water cooling system was designed and installed. The water cooling system consists of several pumps, heat exchangers, D I water polishing system and so on. The water cooling system for the TF MPS was tested under the 15 kA current charging condition. In this paper be discussed about the system performance and other parameters.

The International GNSS Service (IGS) has managed the global GNSS network and provided the highest quality GNSS data and products, which are GPS ephemerides, clock information and Earth orientation parameter, as the standard for GNSS. An important part of its works is to provide the precise orbits of GPS satellites. GPS satellites send their orbit information (broadcast ephemerides) to users and their accuracies are approximately 1.6 meters level, but those accuracies are not sufficient for the high precise applications which require millimeters precision. The current accuracies of the IGS final orbits are within 5 centimeters level and they are used for Earth science, meteorology, space science, and they are made by the IGS analysis centers and combined by the IGS analysis center coordinator. The techniques making the products are very difficult and require the high technology. The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) studies to make the IGS products. In this study, we developed our own processing strategy and made GPS ephemerides using Bernese GPS software Ver. 5.0. We used the broadcast ephemerides as the initial orbits and processed the globally distributed 150 IGS stations. The result shows about 6 to 8 centimeters in root-mean-squares related to IGS final orbits in each day during a week. We expect that this study can contribute to secure our own high technology.

In airborne gravimetry, there are two data streams. One is the specific force measured by an air/sea gravimeter or accelerometers, the other is kinematic acceleration measured by DGPS. And the difference of them provides the gravity disturbance information. To satisfy the requirement of most applications, an accuracy of 1mGal $(1mCal=10^{-5}m/s^{2})$ with a spatial resolution of 1km is the aim of current airborne gravimetry. There are two different methods to derive the kinematic acceleration. The generally used method is to differentiate the position twice, and the position can be calculated by commercial DGPS software. The main defect of this method is that integer ambiguities need to be fixed to get the precise position solution, but it's not a trivial thing for long base line. And to fix integer ambiguities, the noisier iono-free measurement is used. When differentiation is applied, noise is amplified and will influence the accuracy of acceleration. The other method is to get carrier phase acceleration by differentiate the carrier phase first, and then using the acceleration of GPS satellite to derive the vehicle acceleration. The main advantages include that fixing integer ambiguities is not needed anymore, position can be relaxed to about 10 meters, and smoother acceleration can be got since iono-free measurement is not needed. In some literatures, it's considered that the dynamic performance of the second method is inferior to that of the first. Through analysis, it is found that the performance degradation in dynamic environment results from the simplification of the GPS carrier phase observable model. And an iterative algorithm is presented to compensate the model error. Using a dynamic GPS data from an aeromagnetic survey, the importance of this compensation is showed at last.
