Electron Tunneling Characteristics of PtSi-nSi Junctions according to Temperature Variations (온도변화에 따른 백금 실리사이드-엔 실리콘 접합의 전자 터널링 특성)

  • In this paper, We analyzed the current-voltage characteristics with n-type silicon substrates concentration and temperature variations (Room temperature, 50$^{\circ}C$, 75$^{\circ}C$) in platinum silicide and silicon junction. The electrical parameters of measurement are turn-on voltage, saturation current, ideality factor, barrier height, dynamic resistance in forward bias and reverse breakdown voltage according to variations of junction concentration of substrates and measurement temperature variations. As a result, the forward turn-on voltage, reverse breakdown voltage, barrier height and dynamic resistance were decreased but saturation currents and ideality factor were increased by substrates increased concentration variations in platinum silicide and n-silicon junction. In increased measurement temperature (RT, 50$^{\circ}C$, 75$^{\circ}C$), the extracted electrical parameter values of characteristics were rises by increased temperature variations according to the forward and reverse bias.

  • When combustion gas is cooled down below the dew point of sulfuric acid vapor in the heat recovery systems, condensation occurs. Since the condensed sulfuric acid solution causes low-temperature corrosion in materials, it is important to measure the SOx dew point by electric measurement. In this study, two kinds of probes having electric gaps of 1mm or 2mm were used. and experiments were carried out by the parameters of sulfuric acid vapor and water vapor concentration. The changes of electric current caused by sulfuric acid condensed on the surface of probe according to the cooling rate and the probe head surface temperature were sudied. The opimum cooling rate was decreased with the increasing of water vaper concentration regardless of sulfuric acid concentration. The sensitivity of electric current is improved for the narrower gap(1mm) of ring electrodes, but it rarely affects the SOx dew point measuring of different probes according to the change of cooling rate.

  • Through the test of ESD(Electro Static Discharge) for PCB circuit, we are able to research on the ESD effect. This paper also studys on the ESD test method for measurement. In the measurement of the discharge current, we used current probe(TC-1). The applied voltage to the PCB metal is -3 kV HBM mode. In conclusion ESD influences exponentially greater impact in nearer PCB circuit.

  • In magnetic flux measurement, output voltage drift of electronic integrator is an essential problem. In this work, we have developed a new kind of Miller type integrator using a sample and hold amplifier. Input bias current was measured and this value was hold in the sample and hold amplifier, after that input bias current of Miller integrator was compensated automatically using the value which holds in the sample and hold amplifier. Developed flux-meter shows the drift of flux-meter are smaller than 10$^{-5}$ Wb/min in full scale of 10$^{-2}$, and we could also measure multi-channel magnetic flux simultaneously.

  • To reduce the maintenance expense, and the possibility of electric outage and accident, we should optimize the outdoor insulation system. And for the optimization, accurate measurement for the degree of contamination with climatic conditions, such as wind, rain, and drought, should be carried. However the classical measuring method, brush wiping, has some problems in the aspect of man power, reliability, and expense. In this paper, we propose two type apparatus, which could detect the degree of contamination on insulators in outdoor insulation system, such as transmission and distribution line insulator and bushing. One use the leakage current, and the other use the oscillating frequency to check the degree of contamination. To avoid the oxidation of electrode AC source, and the low degree of contamination was applied. From the result of this investigation we could get the good relationship between the degree of contamination and the leakage current and oscillating frequency

  • This paper deals with design and thrust force measurement of EMS type LSM for propulsion of the high-speed maglev train. The load of maglev train is calculated, and the design equations of the LSM are presented, and the LSM which is suitable for the operation of short-distance test track is designed. In addition, the finite element analysis is performed to confirm the back-EMF and thrust force characteristics of the LSM designed model. A short length LSM prototype model is manufactured. Finally, the thrust force of the LSM is measured by the method applying dc current to the stator winding instead of three-phase ac current. And the validity of the design and analysis is verified by this measurement.

  • A technical performance of the coating depends greatly on the thickness of painting film or coating film. Therefore the confirmed report of the technique to measure accurately is essential to the coating film thickness for the assessment about a coating quality performance. In this paper, two gap sensors - eddy current gap sensor and capacitance gap sensor - which has a different operating principle were used to measure the thickness of a nonmagnetic substance coating film such as paint, enamel or ceramic that was coated on the metallic material. A capacitance gap sensor was used to measure the distance between the sensor head and a coating film and an eddy current gap sensor to measure the distance between the sensor head and a base metal. Then the thickness of a coating film was obtained by the difference of two measurement value. At this result, the suggested dual sensor can measure an arbitrary film thickness to be coated on a base metal as the measurement value of coating thickness exists accurately within the 2% error.

  • A current velocity measurement radar for a river or a stream estimates Doppler frequencies of return echoes to extract the corresponding surface velocity information. It is very important to maintain the reliability and accuracy of these velocity estimates for water resource management such as flooding or drought conditions. However, received Doppler spectra of water surface return echoes have very widely varying shapes according to different measurement environments and weather conditions. Therefore, serious problems may arise in maintaining the reliability and accuracy of velocity estimating algorithm in a radar sensor because of Doppler spectra which can have many different kind of shapes. Therefore, in this paper, an appropriate Doppler spectrum model is suggested to simulate many various Doppler spectra. This model can be very useful in validating the reliability and accuracy of surface velocity estimates.

  • A method for evaluation of the linearity of both the ratio error and phase angle error in the current transformer(CT) comparison measurement equipment has been developed by employing the standard resistors with negligible AC-DC resistance difference less than $10^{-5}$. The non-reactive standard resistors for the linearity check of the system are used as the external burden connected with the secondary of CT under test. These burdens consist of nine standard resistors, with the nominal resistance of $0.01{\Omega},\;0.1{\Omega},\;0.2{\Omega},\;0.4{\Omega},\;0.6{\Omega},\;1{\Omega},\;2{\Omega},\;4{\Omega}$, and $10{\Omega}$. For linearity check, the developed method has been applied in the CT comparison measurement equipment belonging to the industry.

  • For maintaining railroad, accumulated passing tonnage is a determinant factor of appropriate rail replacement time. Recently, Seoul Metro's rail maintaining system and technology is being improved from previous years, which increasing a standard of rail replacement. Thus, this brings importance of estimating and managing for accumulated passing tonnage. In case of light weighted train such as subway, current method of calculating accumulated passing tonnage has defaults of misrepresenting accumulated passing tonnage data. Because current method is based on the weight of passengers and train., and operation data. In addition, currently there is no mechanical and electronic system that could represent and support the accurate data between heavy and non-heavy traffic area, and accumulated passing tonnage is calculated inaccurately by estimating average value each line. The current method of calculating accumulated passing tonnage misleads to unpredictable data that represent inappropriate rail replacement period, which leads to under or over analyzed replacement period. If accumulated passing tonnage is over estimated, rail replacement leads to waste of budget. Hence, it is necessary to construct reliable actual measurement system to manage rail's life safely and efficiently, and in this study the accumulated passing tonnage measurement device is installed with using rail pad of optical fiber sensors and its effect is analyzed.
