Optimal current angle control method of interior permanent magnet Synchronous Motors (매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 최적 전류각 제어)

  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications.   • Piezoelectric pump can be considered as R-C load and it needs something special driver because the output voltage does not become 0 even though the applied voltage is 0 with common converter. This operating system consists of fly-back converter to increase the input voltage and energy recovery inverter to apply square voltage to the piezoelectric pump. The energy recovery inverter can charge and discharge the energy of capacitive load. In this paper, to enhance performance of the driver, a few elements or circuits are added and modified. To drive the inverter safely, current limit resister is added and adjusted the value to valance the charging and discharging current. In addition, a current limit inductor is added to the input side to limit the input current and enhance the efficiency. Inductor only may make oscillation and another resister is added parallel to the inductor to solve this problem. The converter and inveter are assembled to one board for compactness. The appropriateness is proved with simulation and experiments.

  • Switched reluctance machine has much attention because of high efficiency, high power and DC series torque characteristics with a traction drive. But the motor has to have a regenerative mode when it is adopted in an electric vehicle. A current divergence during the regeneration makes difficulties in the control of SRM. This paper proposes a reference current limitation strategy for a stable regeneration based on simulations and experimental tests. The motor is operated with conventional current limit and switching angle control method in motoring mode. Simulations and experiments are executed to verify proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a simple MPPT control scheme of a Current-Control-Loop Error system Based that can be obtains a lot of advantage to compare with another digital control method, P&O and IncCond algorithm that is applied mostly a PV system. An existent method is needed an expensive processor such as DSP that calculated to change the measure power of a using current and voltage sensor at the once. Therefore, it is applied a small home power generation system that required many expenses. But, a proposed method is easy to solve the cost reduction and power unbalance problems that it is used by control scheme to limit error of a current control of common sensor. This proposed algorithm had verified through a simulation and an experiment on battery charger using PIC that is the microprocessor of a low price.

  • This paper presents a stable lighting method for HID lamp for ship from initial discharging current limit with discharging voltage control. The output voltage of the proposed control scheme is boosted for ignition, and the charging voltage is decreased by the resistor discharging. The proposed controller fires the initial discharge at the designed discharging voltage to limit the discharge current. After the discharging, constant current controller is used for brightness in steady state. The proposed control scheme can limit the initial discharge current using the starting point control without a complex voltage controller. so it can improve the life-time of HID lamp and get a stable discharge from restricted the initial discharge current. In order to improve the protection of the system, a simple instantaneous error detecting circuit for open state and short state of HID lamp is used. The proposed error detecting of HID lamp can protect the power system of lamp control. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified from the experiments of practical 2.5[kW] HID search light for ship.

  • This paper presents the current limit strategy of voltage controller of delta-connected H-bridge static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) under an unbalanced voltage fault event. When phase to ground fault happens, the feasibility to heighten the magnitude of sagging phase voltage is considered by using symmetric transformation method in delta-structure STATCOM. And the efficiency to cover the maximum physical current limit of switching device is considered by using vector analysis method that calculate the zero sequence current for balancing the cluster energy in delta connected H-bridge STATCOM. The result is simple and obvious. Only positive sequence current has to be used to support the unbalanced voltage sag. Although the relationship between combination of the negative sequence voltage with current and zero sequence current is nonlinear, the more negative sequence current is supplying, the larger zero sequence current is required. From the full-model STATCOM system simulation, zero sequence current demand is identified according to a ratio of positive and negative sequence compensating current. When only positive sequence current support voltage sag, the least zero sequence current is needed.

  • The paper is proposed intantaneous torque control of IPMSM for drive of wide speed range. The control scheme is based on the mathematical model of the motor and is applicable to the constant torque and field weakening operations The scheme allows the motor to be driven with maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) characteristic below base speed and it maintains the maximum voltage limit of the motor wide field weakening and the motor current limit under all conditions of operation accurately. For each control mode. a condition that determines the optimal d-axis current $i_d$ for maximum torque operation is derived. The proposed control algorithm is applied to PMSM drive system for drive of wide speed range, the operating characteristics controlled by maximum torque control are examined in detail by simulation.

  • An adjusted control limit of the $\overline{X}$ chart is proposed for monitoring the continually improving processes. The continual improvement of the process implies the decrease of the process variance, which is represented by a logistic curve. The process standard deviation is estimated by the exponentially weighted moving average of the sample standard deviations from the past to the current times. The control limits are adjusted by the estimated standard deviation at every sampling time. The performance of the adjusted control limit is compared with that of the standard control limits for various cases of the decreasing speed and size of the variance. The results show that the $\overline{X}$ chart with the adjusted control limits provides better performances for monitoring the small and moderate shifts in continually improving processes.
