The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between acculturation and the daily adjustment of Korean-Chinese children to Chinese society. Specifically, this study examined the differences between language factors and cultural factors in the levels of acculturation of Korean-Chinese children. In addition, the differences of Korean-Chinese children's adjustment according to their levels of language-related and culture-related acculturation were analyzed. Subjects consisted of 679 Korean-Chinese 4th graders in Yangil, Shenyang, and Harbin. First, the result from this study showed that Korean-Chinese children in Yangil, Shenyang, and Harbin were more acculturated to the Chinese language than to Chinese cultural activities. Second, language factors and cultural factors in acculturation were distinctively associated with Korean children's daily adjustment variables such as their well-being, internal locus of control, achievement motivation, school adjustment, teacher and peer support. Lastly, this study revealed that using Korean ethnic language and maintaining Korean ethnic culture are more likely to be associated with better daily adjustment for Korean-Chinese children. These results discussed within the unique sociocultural context of the Korean-Chinese immigrant society. This study suggests that ethnic minority children's adjustment and development should be understood within the sociocultural context of their immigrant society.

This paper proposes the presence and importance of cultural differences to address user engagement in worldwide social media platforms. Based on Hofstede's cultural dimensions, this paper addresses their new meanings in the context of user engagement in social media. Our propositions address two research questions: (1) how do cultural dimensions, displayed on social media platforms, differ across national cultures?; (2) what different preferences the social media platforms have in terms of which cultural dimensions promote or suppress user engagement? User engagement in social media platforms is explained by the cultural differences in terms of the four cultural dimensions: individualism vs. collectivism, uncertainty avoidance, power distance, and masculinity vs. femininity. Implications are also discussed for research and practice.

캐릭터는 문화적 콘텐츠이며 이를 시각화하여 자국의 문화를 보여주고 그 문화를 전달하는 매개체적인 잠재력이 점점 커지는 영역이다. 캐릭터들을 살펴보면 고전에 나타난 인물들로 제작된 캐릭터를 많이 찾아 볼 수 있다. 고전은 하나의 국가 혹은 민족의 문화에서 그 원형을 찾아볼 수 있다. 본고에서는 고전신화소설 [서유기]를 모델로 하여 제작된 만화 한국의 [미스터 손(날아라! 슈퍼보드)], 중국의 [大鬧天宮 제천대성 손오공 (제천대성 손오공)], 일본의 [ぼくの孫悟空(나의 손오공)]에 등장하는 손오공캐릭터를 중심으로 한국 중국 일본 캐릭터디자인을 비교 분석하였다. 분석한 결과 한국은 퓨전 적이며 글로벌 적인 경향을 나타내고 있고, 반면 중국은 전통문화에 대한 부각에 치중하고 있으며, 일본은 디테일한 부분에 자신의 전통적인 문화요소를 부여하여 보다 대중적인 수용성을 추구하려는 경향을 보이고 있으며 이는 캐릭터디자인이 각 나라별로 문화와 밀접한 관계가 있음을 시사하고 있다.

The purpose of our study is to examine the influence of telepresence on cultural heritage attachment in the context of virtual museum. We determined the effect of telepresence on visitors' aesthetic and educational experiences and how these experiences affect visitors' perceptions of virtual museum service value. Moreover, we investigate the effect of perceived virtual museum service value on museum attachment and cultural heritage attachment. A total of 143 visitors were sampled through an online survey focusing on Chinese virtual museum visitors. The results show that all the paths presented significant effects. Additionally, it was found that telepresence indirectly influences cultural heritage attachment through education experience and perceived virtual museum value. The theoretical and practical implications are also provided. An important implication is that online virtual museum is essential to raise visitors' education experience and their cultural heritage attachment. Thus, virtual museum should take initiative to enhance virtual reality to ensure traditional culture education and formation their cultural heritage attachment.

In the EFL context, Korean students don't have enough opportunities to directly experience the target culture, prompting the need to offer some well-organized culture education in class. The goals of this study are to analyze how many cultural contents are reflected in High School English textbooks and to suggest an implication for cultural learning. These textbooks were carefully examined, focusing on the cultural contents, by four categories: 'cultural skill section', 'cultural patterns', 'related language skills', and 'target countries'. The results of the analysis were like the following: First, although many of the textbooks are dealing with the culture skill sections, their contents were still wanting consistency and were small in quantity. Second, as for the cultural patterns, the pages dealing with behavioral culture were 43%, spiritual culture, 35.7%, material culture, 21.3%. Third, as for the related language skills, the cultural contents in the textbooks were organized in the order of listening, reading, speaking, writing, and cultural skill sections. Since it is impossible to separate language skills from culture, we suggest that the aspects of target culture should be incorporated in various forms into the learning situations. Fourth, as for the issue of target countries, the contents about the general or whole English culture were insufficient. So we suggest that English textbooks should play an essential role in providing students with various cultural information about various English speaking countries.

The Korean and the American consumers's attitude toward globalization were compared in the context of cultural values. This study exclusively investigated the effect of traditional versus non-traditional values and the mediating role of fashion involvement. The study sample consists of American and Korean female college students. It was affirmed that long supported categorization of individualism for Western culture and collectivism for Asian or Eastern culture does not seem to characterize the postmodern generation. No major differences between Korea and the U. S. were found in the empirical study except that Americans showed higher levels of cultural values and Koreans associate fashion involvement with global-mindedness more strongly. The impact of cultural values was similar across cultures but the mediating role of fashion involvement was dissimilar depending on the cultural backgrounds of respondents.

The objectives of the research are to explain the nature of cultural diffusion and its associated theoretical concepts, to review the nature of traditional Indonesian textiles and to focus particular attention on the origin, evolution and diffusion of motifs and patterns associated with the decoration of two important categories of Indonesian textiles: batiks and ikats. Cultural diffusion refers to the process by which cultural traits, material objects, ideas, inventions, innovations or patterns of behaviour are spread from one social or geographical context to another. Examining the decoration on traditional textiles produced across the Indonesian archipelago, certain motifs and patterns are shown to have been retained from ancient times, and others have been adopted from elsewhere. There is great cultural diversity across the archipelago and ample evidence of cultural diffusion.

Although several theories and models have been proposed to explain the effects of cultural differences in team decision making, many aspects of team decision-making in multi-cultural contexts such as team performance, team communication, and team cognition still remain unclear. In particular, little attention has paid to the empirical studies on team processes multi-cultural team members use to interact with each other to accomplish the task in different task environments. To investigate the effects of culture and task characteristics on team decision making behavior in multi-cultural contexts, this study compared culturally homogenous and heterogeneous groups in the context of logistics decision making. Results of the study showed that cultural difference and task complexity may affect team performance as well as team interaction process to varying degree.

This study seeks to find new strategies for the development of Tapgol Park and to identify Programs to promote this development. In addition, the study specifies the purpose and meaning of these efforts by revealing social aspects not apparent in the physical form of the site, and reading how these aspects influenced the development of Tapgol Park Because the focus of the study lies in reading cultural aspects of the site which have to be understood within the context of their social circumstances, the study drew materials from mass media such as newspapers and literary magazines, which best reflect these social aspects. Interpreting the over 100 you history of Tapgol Park in a cultural context, the study found a meaningful suggestion that such a small urban place located in a city forms a cultural identity in the course of communicating with its surrounding social situations. The change in the identity of Tapgol Park has been sensitive to changing social circumstances rather than the physical structure of the space. The original function of Tapgol Park as a traditional city park has gradually changed towards strengthening social functions, much like the character of an urban plaza. In the process of change the park developed a unique culture. This park culture, however, came not from the original design but from its close interactions with social circumstances changing over time. At the same time, the change in identity seen in Tapgol Park has not been fresh formed. It can be said that the inertia came into light with the potential powers under the place over the long history having been combined into the then social circumstances. In early 2002, the park re-opened, refurbished as one of the relics of the March 1st Movement. Investigating how cultural inertias that have been developing in various forms to date will change and be maintained in this new paradigm is an important assignment for researchers.

2008 베이징 올림픽게임이 성황리에 막을 내렸다. 지난 세기동안 올림픽게임은 여러 방향에서 폭 넓게 주목을 받아왔다. 반면, 델픽게임은 거의 주목을 받지 못하였을 뿐 아니라 고대 델픽게임과 현대의 델픽게임에 관한 연구나 서적마저 거의 없다. 이 연구는 델픽게임을 학계에 알리고 소개하기 위하여 그 역사적 맥락과 의미, 행사의 내용 측면에서의 콘텐츠 성격 및 특성, 문화관광 측면에서의 비전에 관하여 논의 하였다.
