  • No-tillage is an effective practice to save labor input and reduce methane emission from the paddy. Effects of tillage and cultivation methods on carbon accumulation and soil properties were investigated in the treatments of tillage-transplanting (T-T), tillage-wet hill seeding (T-WS), minimum tillage-dry seeding (MT-S) and no-tillage dry seeding (NT-S) of rice. Soil carbon was higher in NT-S and MT-S, compared to T-T and T-WS. In NT-S and MT-S, soil carbon contents were the highest in the top soil (5 cm depth) and decreased with soil depth. In T-T and T-WS, however soil carbon contents showed no significant difference up to soil depth of 15 cm from the top. Carbon content was the highest in the soil particle size under $106{\mu}m$ and decreased as the soil particle size increased. Contents of water-stable aggregates in NT-S and MT-S were higher than those of T-T and T-WS. In NT-S and MT-S, contents of water-stable aggregates were the highest in the top soil and significantly decreased with soil depth while no significant difference up to the soil depth of 15 cm in T-T and T-WS. Available $SiO_2$ contents in the top soil were the highest in NT-S and MT-S while the lowest in T-T and T-WS. It is concluded that minimum or no disturbance of soil in rice cultivation can increase carbon accumulation in the soil, especially in the top layer, and subsequently contribute to the formation of the water-stable soil aggregates.

  • Most of the current cultivation log is recorded by growers manually or whose environment information is input based on the grower's own judgement. It is not easy for growers to record the image of disease and insect pests in the cultivation log. In this regards, u-Farm cultivation log management system based on Web 2.0 and smart phone is introduced in this paper, that is used for the effective cultivation management and grower's convenience. In the system, the value of environment information is transmitted to servers via sensors. It designs and implements Web 2.0 Flex so as to make the cultivation log more reliable and provide users with active, convenient GUI in case the log is recorded by desktop. In this process, detailed modules are designed by object-oriented UML considering the reusability and maintenance of the system. Moreover, the system introduced in this paper is proved to be more excellent by the qualitative assessment compared with the other researches.

  • This study was carried out to develop techniques for the log cultivation of Pleurotus pulmonarius. Soil landfill cultivation of the in plastic container boxes containing yield per log than but there was no difference in the yield from both spawn Hyangsan" variety. In the case of soil landfill cultivation in a shaded vinyl house, an Ailanthus tree gave a higher yield than that using poplar tree, and the yield of the Hosan" variety was higher than that of the Hyangsan" variety. With regard to proper tree species selection, willow and cherry trees were good for both the Hosan" and "Hyangsan" variet.

  • Recently the scale and area of greenhouse cultivation have been enlarged in Korea, and its importance in domestic agriculture is being increased. According to these situation, environment control systems are widely used in greenhouses. Even though development of greenhouse facilities and control devices, cultivation skill using them is in lower level more than european countries and Japan. In this study, we propose intelligent information system based on information-communication technology that supports environment control systems. Proposed system is able to support to maintain optimal environment for plant growth using data from environment control system, and also give useful knowledge for cultivation by active way. Furthermore, it estimates future status of plant growth, and suggest best strategy of environment control for current stage.

  • The importance of plant factory which blend agriculture and manufacture has been discussed widely. This company has researched hydroponics technique for cultivation which has been mainly developed in the sites of Okinawa and Hyougo Prefecture. In 1987, we stopped the previous research there, and started a new one far plant factory at the Agricultural Research Center of Chiba Prefecture. In 1989, we built four experimental plant factories (120㎡) at Chiba Oil Factory Refinery in Ichihara-city, developing techniques of cultivation, equipment production and environmental control for cultivation system of tomato, strawberry and leaf vegetables. • This study analyzes the management performance and productivity of environmentfriendly farms compared to conventional farms and the trend of changes in price premium rates of environment-friendly agricultural products. And environmentfriendly farms in Jeollanam-do are surveyed for difficulties in management, proper premium rate of environment-friendly agricultural products (WTA), and tasks for promoting sales. According to the analysis results, the management performance and productivity of are low in many items, and the number of items that are on the decline or stagnant in the environment-friendly premium is making it difficult for farmers to manage. According to a farm survey, the most important task is to promote school meals for boosting sales of environment-friendly agricultural products. And 65.5% of the respondents having contract cultivation, nearly half or 41.1% of the respondents said they do not need contract cultivation or want contract cultivation for less than one year, which means that the current contract does not meet the needs of farmers. Finally, the environment-friendly premium rate based on consumer prices is generally lower than the premium rate (WTA) that farmers perceive as appropriate, so it is important to resolve the gap between the actual premium rate and the WTA.

  • Ginseng Is renowned for both its medicinal and herbal uses and successful cultivation of Panax ginseng in Asia and Panax quinquefolium in North America has until recently taken place in the native geographical ranges of the plants. As a consequence of the potential high capital return and anticipated increases in consumer consumption, commercial cultivation of American ginseng now occurs well outside the native range of the plant in North America. In fact, the region of greatest expansion of cultivation is in the semi-arid interior region of British Columbia, Canada. Linked with this expansion is the potential domination of the ginseng industry by agricultural corporations. In the interior of British Columbia, the native deciduous forest environment of eastern North America is simulated with elevated polypropylene shade and a surface covering of straw mulch. The architecture of these environments is designed to permit maximum machinery usage and to minimize labor requirements. Further, with only a four- years growth cycle, plant densities in the gardens are high. In this hot, semi-arid environment, producers believe they have a competitive advantage over other regions in North America because of the low precipitation rates. This helps to minimize atmospheric humidity such that the conditions for fungal disease development are reduced. If soil moisture level become limited, supplemental water can be provided by irrigation. The nature of the radiation and energy balance regimes of the shade and many environments promotes high soil moisture levels. Also, the modified environment redlines soil heating. This can result in an aerial environment for the plant that is stressful and a rooting zone environment that is suloptimal. The challenge of further refining the man modified environment for enhanced plant growth and health still remains. Keywords Panax ginseng, Panax quinquefolium, cultivation, ginseng production.

  • Wood-cultivated ginseng, including roots in its dried form, is produced in forest land without using artificial facilities such as light barriers. To identify suitable sites for the propagation of wood-cultivated ginseng, factor combination technique (FCT) and linear combination technique (LCT) were used with geographic information system and the results were superimposed onto an actual wood-cultivated ginseng plantation. The LCT more extensively searched for suitable sites of cultivation than that by the FCT; further, the LCT probed wide areas considering the predominance of precipitous mountains in Korea. In addition, the LCT showed the much higher degree of overlap with the actual cultivation sites; therefore, the LCT more comprehensively reflects the cultivator's intention for site selection. On the other hand, the inclusion of additional factors for the selection of suitable cultivation sites and experts' opinions may enhance the effectiveness and accuracy of the LCT for site application.
