  • Growth form and surface morphology of NYAB single crystal grown by TSSG technique using a K2O/3MoOS/0.5B203 flux was investigated. In the crystal grown from <100> or <120> seed, prismatic and (101) faces were well developed with different size each other. (001) face was also developed in the crystal grown from <001> seed. While growth hillocks were observed on the prismatic face of the crystal grown from <100> seed, surface striations parallel to neighbor (101) faces were formed on that face of the crystal grown from <001> seed. The (101) faces were grown by two dimensional nucleation growth. (001) face which was developed at slow growth velocity of [001] direction was grown by screw dislocation Anisotropy of growth velocity as to seed orientation affected on crystal morphology and surface morphology.

  • The crystal size was determined as a function of reaction temperature, during the crystallization process of NaX zeolite. The measured rate constants for linear growth were as 0.0441$\mu\textrm{m}$/h at $80^{\circ}C$, 0.0595$\mu\textrm{m}$/h at $90^{\circ}C$ and 0.0972$\mu\textrm{m}$/h at $100^{\circ}C$, respectively. The activation energy calculated from the relation between the linear growth rate an the reaction temperature was 43.243kJ/mol. The reaction of crystal growth were revealed as 20 days at $80^{\circ}C$, 16 days at $90^{\circ}C$ and 9 days at $100^{\circ}C$, respectively. Both the final product crystal size an the crystallization time were decreased with increasing reaction temperature.

  • Strontium titanate single crystal was grown by floating wne method. Growth conditions are as follows; at air atmosphere, rotation rate of upper and lower shafts were 20 - 25 rpm, 15 - 20 rpm respectively and growth rate was 3 mmlhr. As grown crystal was light brown color and transparent. After annealing, color was faded away. Growth direction was [112] direction and it was confirmed that grown crystal has $SrTiO_3$single phase and stoichiometric composition by XRD and EDS. Etch pit pattern was investigated after chemical etching in $350^{\circ}C$, KOH solution for 5 min and dielectric constant was measured at the range of room temperature ~ $350^{\circ}C$ .

  • The present study was undertaken to investigate the crystal growth onto enamel mineral and synthetic hydroxyapatite seeds in media resembling the enamel fluid composition. Effects of fluoride at low concentrations on the precipitation were also examined in a benchtop crystal growth model adopting a miniaturized reaction column. X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), as well as chemical analyses, were employed for characterization of both seed materials before and after experimentation. Remarkable findings were that (1) both biological and synthetic seeds at the same total surface areas yielded rather similar precipitation rates at all levels of fluoride concentration in solution and (2) the precipitation rate was accelerated in a manner depending on fluoride concentrations in media. FTIR differential analysis disclosed that the precipitating phase was characterized as poorly crystallized apatite, which incorporated subtle carbonate. Most of the fluoride ions in soution were readily incorporated into crystals. The overall results support the view that the seeded crystal growth model is of value to gain insight into the mechanism of enamel crystal growth under fluoride regimens.

  • (100) ZnSe crystals with twin and grain free were grown by vapor transport method. The defect in (100) ZnSe crystals was investigated by FWHM of X-ray Rocking Curve. The growth rate and seed quality are the main parameters of the growth process to obtain the high quality ZnSe crystals. The geometric shape of the grown (100) ZnSe crystal is dependent on the shape of seed, isothermal line in furnace and the growth rate of each surface in crystal.

  • Domain structure and properties of LiNbO3 single crystals grown by continuous method (Orr's method) were characterized. It was found that the growth striation of the grown crystals correspond with domain structure and the positive-negative domains were repeated with the perpendicular direction to the C axes. The formation of negative domains were related to the rapid crystal growth rate. The measured dielectric constant of the grown crystal was 140∼150 at 100 kHz at the room temperature and Curie point was 1153℃.

  • It was observed that the single grain of crystallite growth behavior in AlN (Aluminum Nitride) single crystal growth by PVT (Physical Vapor Transport) method. The single grain of AlN was grown in sequent experiments and adjacent crystallites were joined together after small grain was grown. The sequential results of those grains observed by stereoscopic microscope were reported.

  • An experimental investigation on flow pattern was carried out in molten Woods metal using an incorporated magnet probe to determine the velocity field in a Woods metal model of Czochralski crystal growth system. The local velocities in Woods metal were obtained 3-dimensionally at numerous positions of large crucible by measuring the voltage induced in the melt. Since there have not been a lot of the model experiments on the velocity distributions in the large size of melt with low Prandtl number for Czochralski crystal growth system, the present paper aims to give useful guidelines for e analysis of fluid flow in Czochralski growth system.

  • AlN crystals were grown by a sublimation process without seed crystals and the growth morphology of them was characterized. The grown AlN crystals were a polycrystalline phase, which had a diameter of $60\sim200\;{\mu}m$ and were grown with a growth rate of $0.2\sim0.5\;{\mu}n/hr$. It was observed that the as-grown crystals had a hexagonal crystal structure and revealed that these crystals were grown with a morphology of columnar morphology in the initial stage of the growth before they were enlarged in a way of a lateral growth behavior in the final stage. On the surface, a lot of pinholes were observed on the surface of crystals grown. The evolution of a growth morphology was characterized by optical and scanning electron microscopic observation.
