  • This paper examines the incorporation of the crushed sand (CS) and desert sand (DS) in the formation of self compacting concrete (SCC). These sands have been substituted for the rolled sand (RS), which is currently the only sand used in concretes and which is likely to run out in our country. DS, which comes from the Tunisian Sahara in the south, is characterized by a tight distribution of grains size. CS, a by-product of careers containing a significant amount of fines up to 15%, is characterized by a spread out granulometry having a maximum diameter of around 5mm. These two sands are considered as aggregates for the SCC. This first part of the study consists in analyzing the influence of the type of sand on the parameters of composition of the SCC. These sands consist of several combinations of 3 sands (DS, CS and RS). The method of formulation of the adopted SCC is based on the filling of the granular void by the paste. The CS substitution to the RS made it possible, for all the proportions, to decrease the granular voids, to increase the compactness of the mixture and to decrease the water and adding fillers proportioning. These results were also obtained for a moderate substitution of DS/CS (< 40%) and a weak ratio of DS/RS (20%). For higher proportions, the addition of DS to CS or RS did not improve the physical characteristics of the SCC granular mixture.

  • Product background of cement, sand and coarse aggregate differ from country to country, so that thermal behaviour of concrete make a difference in high temperature. To cope with demand, this paper is a study on compressive strength for W/C 45%, 55% and 65% by using domestic portland cement, Han-river sand, sea sand and crushed-coarse aggregate. As a result, it is shown that it is estimating to the mechanical properties of heated concrete specimens under various W/C ratio.

  • Based from the results of various field and laboratory tests, it was determined that VCCP(Vibrated Crushed-stone Compaction Pile) Method is more effective compared to SCP(Sand Compaction Pile) Method. VCCP method effectively increases soil bearing capacity and reinforces soil and slopes, prevents liquefaction, enhances drainage. But when it comes to the engineering design these factors are not considered, instead designs are performed using practical methods and equations. Furthermore, this method is very economical since crushed stone can be used instead of sand and it can be also used in off-shore construction. In this paper, it will be synthetically considered technical state at the present time, research object after this and necessity of research for VCCP Method.

  • As this study is the one related to the ultra high strength concrete essentially used for high rise buildings, it has analyzed on the flowability of ultra high strength concrete according to the variation of coarse aggregate and fine aggregate. The coarse aggregate was planned as two types including Granite Aggregate (GA) and crushed coarse Limestone Aggregate (LA) while fine aggregate was planned as four types including Sea Sand (SS), Limestone Crushed Fine Aggregates (LFA), Electric Arc Furnace Oxidizing Slag Aggregates (EFA) and Crushed Sand (CS) to perform experiment with a total of eight variables. As a result of analyzing slump flow, 500mm concentration time, U-Box and L-Flow, etc. among the characteristics of fresh concrete, a mix using LA+LFA is determined to show high flowability in case of applying ultra high strength concrete.

  • In Kwangjin industrial company, mill is operating for the foundry sand production at the rate of 25t/hr from quartzite. Foundry sands fall into four distinct categories: silica sand, lake sand, bank sand, and natural molding sand. Silica sand is a general term used to describe crushed, washed, graded, dried, and cooled clay-free sands. This study was conducted for the investigation of the foundry sand productivity and the life span of the hammer according to the material quality. The life time of hammer from several manufacturer were compared in order to find out the grinding efficiency of the various hammer material. In the result of tests, the life time of high-Mn hammer was 10.5 hours while that of high-Cr was 19.5 hours. The life time in case of typical worn shape hammers was about 12 hours and the average time of a blowhole hammer was about 6.5 hours.

  • If a saturate sand is subjected to ground vibrations it tends to compact and decrease in volume. if drainage is unable to occur the tendency to decrease in volume results in an increase in pore water pressure and if the pore water pressure build up to the point at which it is equal to the overburden pressure the effective stress becomes zero the sand loses its strength completely. This phenomenon is called "Liquefaction" It is associated primarily but not exclusively with saturated cohesion soils. The attention and study on liquefaction have been growing since the earthquake in Niigita Japan in 1964. Many researchers on liquefaction effect have been carried out in many countries under the potential influence of earthquake including Japan. However little research on liquefaction has been reported in Korea because Korea has been considered to be safe from earthquake. The term "liquefaction" is only known among geotechnical engineers,. In this paper overview of liquefaction and the evaluation on the applicability of vibrated crushed-stone pile as a liquefaction prevention method are presented.ethod are presented.

Specially, natural resources of good quality were abundant past in occasion of aggregate and unlike concrete request strength past that the importance was less relatively the quality enemy than cement because is also not big, importance of aggregate quality great veried as concrete strength and request properties of matter about durability are strengthened more on extreme displacement. • With an increased use of alternative aggregate due to exhaustion of quality aggregate resources, the amount of used crushed aggregates have been increased and as a result, development of admixture materials has also been improved and its amount of use is increasing from day to day in order to secure quality in concrete. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to make concrete of good quality by using chemical admixture developed in this study by replacement rate of fine aggregate. At first, susceptibility, compressive strength ratio and length change ratio in both fresh and hardened concrete were evaluated according to corresponding regulation. As for high performance related regulation, APC NO.3 and PC series were going to rule, and as for AE agent regulation, replacement ratio of fine aggregate of high performance chemical admixture was 10:0 and other chemical admixture met quality regulation for AE agent.

  • This study is performed to evaluate flowability of high flowable concrete using ordinary portland cement, crushed coarse aggregate, crushed sand, sea sand, fly ash, lime powder and superplasticizer. The slump flow and air content are increased with increasing the content of lime powder. But, the O-type funneling time and Box-type passing are decreased with increasing the content of lime powder. The slump flow, air content, O-type funneling time, Box-type passing and L-type filling of target compressive strength 21-27 MPa and 35-42 MPa at curing age 28 days are 47-50 cm and 56-60 cm, 4.2-5.5% and 4.0-5.7%, 8-12s and 5-10s, 4.3-5.0 cm and 3.4-5.0 cm, and excellent, respectively. These concrete can be used for high flowable concrete.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the slump flow, air content, setting time, compressive strength, adiabatic temperature rise and diffusion coefficient of chloride used ordinary portland cement, crushed coarse aggregate, crushed sand, river sand, fly ash, limestone powder, blast furnace slag powder and superplasticizer to find optimum mix design of low carbon green concrete for structures. The performances of low carbon green concrete used fly ash, limestone powder and blast furnace slag powder were remarkably improved. This fact is expected to have economical effects in the manufacture of low carbon green concrete for structures. Accordingly, the fly ash, limestone powder and blast furnace slag powder can be used for low carbon green concrete material.
