Mk-계수를 고려한 용접부 복수 표면균열 진전수명 평가 (Fatigue Life Estimation of Welded Joints by using Mk-factor under a Propagation Mechanism of Multiple Collinear Surface Cracks)

  • Failure mechanisms of welded joints under fatigue loads are interpreted that multiple collinear surface cracks initiating randomly along the weld toes propagate under the mutual interaction and coalescence of adjacent two cracks. To estimate fatigue crack propagation life for three types of the representative welded joints, i.e. non-load carrying cruciform, cover plate and longitudinal stiffener joint, the stress intensity factors at the front of the surface cracks have to be calculated, which are influenced strongly by the geometry of attachments, weld toes and the crack shapes. For the effective calculation of the stress intensity factors the Mk-factor was introduced which can be derived by a parametric study performed by FEM considering influence of the geometrical effects. The fatigue life of the cruciform joint was estimated by using the Mk-factors and the method considering the propagation mechanisms of the multiple surface cracks. Analysis results for the fatigue life had a good agreement with that of experiment.

Hot-spot 응력을 이용한 십자형 필렛 용접재의 피로강도 평가 (Fatigue Strength Assessment of the Cruciform Fillet Welded Joint Using Hot-spot Stress Approach)

  • In this study, fatigue tests to obtain S-N curves and FE analyses to obtain structural stress concentration factors were conducted for the two types of cruciform fillet welded joints, that is, load-carrying and non load-carrying types. Then we changed the obtained S-N curve of load carrying joint to that based on hot spot stress. As a result, the S-N curve of load carrying joint based on hot-spot stress was almost exactly coincided with that of non load-carrying joint based on nominal stress. So we have conducted that the fatigue strength of a welded joint with different geometry from the non stress distribution along the expected crack path.

  • Under cyclic loading, the fatigue failures of welded joints occur at weld toes which induce stress concentration by weld shape. So we need to obtain the peak stress and the S-N curve to assess the fatigue strength of welded joints. However the measurement of peak stress is of high uncertainty and low reproducibility, so we use nominal stress instead in fatigue tests of welded joints. In this study, fatigue tests to obtain S-N curves and FE analyses to obtain stress concentration factors were conducted for the two types of cruciform fillet welded joints, that is, load-carrying and non load-carrying types. Then we changed the obtained S-N curves to that based on peak stress using the hot-spot stress concept. From the analyses of the S-N curves obtained, we have concluded that there is a need to develop a new method to evaluate the fatigue life.

  • We investigated the effect of weld details on fatigue behavior of a material, JIS SM 490 A, with yielding strength of about 350 MPa and tensile strength of about 520 MPa. Tensile tests, instrumented indentation tests and fatigue tests were carried out on double V-grooved butt weld plates such as reinforcement removed, as-welded and weld toe ground. In addition plates with transverse fillet welded web, load carrying cruciform fillet welded plates, non-load-carrying cruciform fillet welded plates and longitudinal butt welded plates were tested. S-N curves for the above specimens were obtained and analyzed

Wind-induced fatigue design of a cruciform shaped mast

  • The cruciform shaped mast over 47 storey, Telecom Corporate Building in Melbourne, Australia rises to a height of approximately 25 m above the roof level. As the members are subjected to very high fluctuating loads under wind, the design was mainly governed by wind-induced fatigue. A detailed fatigue analysis was carried out according to the requirements of the Australian Steel Structures Code, AS4100. The wind-induced fatigue analysis procedure is described in the paper. The fatigue design of this mast is used as an example to illustrate some potential problems of relevant specifications in AS4100 and to outline some of the more important parameters in the fatigue analysis.

도심지 교차로 지형에 맞는 방사패턴 형성을 위한 기지국용 모노폴 어레이 안테나 (Base Station Antenna of Radiation Pattern for the Cruciform using Monopole Array)

  • 본 논문에서는 도로지형에 따른 안테나 방사패턴 형성에 대하여 도심지 교차로형 모양의 방사패턴을 갖는 안테나의 설계제작에 그 목적이 있다. 본 논문에서 제안한 도로는 폭 60 m, 길이 200 m의 도심지 8차선 교차로이며 이에 적용할 수 있는 기지국용 안테나의 방사패턴으로 십자형 방사패턴을 제안하였다. 설계 방법으로는 임의의 방사패턴의 형성을 타원식의 합으로 구하였으며, 이에 Woodward-Lawson 방법을 이용한 표본화로 스트립 급전 6소자 모노폴 선형 어레이로 마이크로스트립 기판상에 구현하였다. 제특성 측정 결과, 설계 중심주파수 2 GHz에서 반사손실 -13.5 dB, -10 dB 대역폭 120 MHz(6 %)를 나타내었으며, 방사패턴은 1.95 GHz 대역에서는 $\pm$45$^{\circ}$에서의 도로의 길이 방향보다 -6 dB의 감소가 보여져 제안된 도심지 교차로형 방사패턴이 양호한 십자형 방사패턴이 유지됨을 확인하였다.

완전 용입 십자형 필릿용접부에서 피로파괴특성과 피로수명에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Fatigue Failure and Fatigue Life in Full Penetrated Cruciform Fillet Weld Zone)

  • 용접기술의 발달과 더불어 기계, 교량, 선박 그리고 가스설비 등의 제작공정을 위하여 용접의 이용이 증가하고 있다. 따라서 그들의 용접 구조물 제작을 위하여 높은 생산성과 안전설계를 고려하는 용접 법을 개발하는 것이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 재료 두께, 용접층수, 하중 방향 그리고 토우부의 노치 반경과 관련하여 완전 용입 십자형 필릿 용접부의 피로강도 및 피로수명의 특성에 대하여 기초적으로 고찰하였다. 대부분의 피로파괴는 십자형 필릿 용접의 토우부에서 발생하였다. 피로강도 및 피로수명은 토우 부의 노치 반경과 플랭크 각에 의한 응력집중의 영향을 받고 있다. 토우부의 금속이 다층 용접에 의하여 어닐링 되고 확산 되었으며 그 결과 침상 페라이트 조직이 형성되어 피로강도와 피로수명을 향상시켰다.

용접형과 무용접형 하지철물의 수평변위 추종능력에 관한 연구 (A Study on Horizontal Displacement Following Ability of Welded and Non-welded Building Hardware)

  • Building hardware joints are welded in most cases, which have risks of fire and explosion. Besides, the secondary damage of the destruction of the welded parts can be caused by the horizontal displacement of the structure due to earthquake or wind load. This paper compared the horizontal displacement following abilities of welded building hardware and non-welded building hardware. To do this, We conducted actual formation shake table test, and checked on the horizontal displacement following ability of structure by comparing their responses to earthquake load. We made the 2m-high framework to examine the responses of the actually constructed building hardwares, and analyzed the displacement responses of the welded-typed, non-welded-typed, and cruciform bracket building hardwares. We conducted the test by increasing acceleration rate until displacement reached 40mm corresponding to allowable relative story displacement II. The result of the test showed that the building hardware using welding work made cracking and breakage on welded connections of welded building hardware, but non-welded building hardware with no use of welding work and cruciform bracket building hardware make no problem, and that non-welded building hardware is superior to that of the welded building hardware in the horizontal displacement following ability due to earthquake or wind load.

응력비 변화에 따른 십자형 접합부의 피로거동 평가 (An Estimation of the Fatigue Behavior on the Cruciform Type Specimen by Variation of the Stress Ratio)

  • 강교량 부재인 십자연결형 접착부를 하중비전달형과 하중전달형으로 각각 제작하여 피로 강도 저감 정도와 응력비 변화에 따른 피로거동을 평가하였다. 또한, 필렛용접 비드의 기하학적 형상에 따른 응력집중을 확인하기 위하여 전산해석을 수행하였다. 피로실험 결과 시험편의 응력비가 피로 강도에 미치는 영향은 거의 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 하중전달형 시험편과 대부분의 밀착 시험편은 용접지단부에서 균열이 발생하여 모재가 파단됨을 알 수 있었다. 모재가 파단된 십자형 시험편의 피로강도는 ${\Delta}\sigma_c$=63.5 MPa로 하중 비전달형 시험편의 피로강도 ${\Delta}\sigma_c$=83.8 MPa보다 약 24% 작게 나타났다. 본 연구대상 시험편은 도로교 시방서상에 모재단면에 대한 응력으로 피로범주 C등급으로 규정하고 있으므로, 실험결과를 모재단면에 대한 응력으로 피로강도를 환산하면 78.27 MPa로 허용 피로강도보다 작은 것으로 나타났다.
