Crowd Activity Classification Using Category Constrained Correlated Topic Model

  • Automatic analysis and understanding of human activities is a challenging task in computer vision, especially for the surveillance scenarios which typically contains crowds, complex motions and occlusions. To address these issues, a Bag-of-words representation of videos is developed by leveraging information including crowd positions, motion directions and velocities. We infer the crowd activity in a motion field using Category Constrained Correlated Topic Model (CC-CTM) with latent topics. We represent each video by a mixture of learned motion patterns, and predict the associated activity by training a SVM classifier. The experiment dataset we constructed are from Crowd_PETS09 bench dataset and UCF_Crowds dataset, including 2000 documents. Experimental results demonstrate that accuracy reaches 90%, and the proposed approach outperforms the state-of-the-arts by a large margin.

Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics 기반 고 밀집 군중 시뮬레이션 기법 (High Density Crowd Simulation based on SPH)

  • 고 밀집 상태의 군중 시뮬레이션은 객체 수에 따라 복잡도와 제작 비용이 크게 증가함으로 사실적인 움직임을 표현하는데 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 고 밀집 군중 시뮬레이션 시 사실적인 움직임을 표현하기 위해 Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) 기법을 도입하였다. 본 연구에서는 유체 시뮬레이션에 사용되는 SPH 모델을 응용하여 객체 움직임에 필요한 회피력, 거리 유지력, 그룹 응집력을 새로이 제안하였다. 제안된 객체 운동 수식은 고 밀집 상태에서 유체와 같이 자연스런 객체 움직임을 표현하는데 효과적이다. 실험 결과, 본 시스템은 밀집도 높은 군중 시뮬레이션을 실시간으로 생성 가능함을 보였다.

Signals' Influence on Crowd Funding Investment Decisions: A comparison of Taiwan and India

  • Crowd funding faces a number of significant obstacles despite its rapid growth and popularity, with the main one being the possible asymmetric information between fundraisers and potential supporters. A study taxonomy based on signalling theory has been created to compare projects originating from Taiwan and India. This was made possible by obtaining a dataset from the crowd funding website, Kickstarter (Global platform). To make the project effective, the study's goal is to look into how signals (e.g., goal-setting, comments, and updates) might be used to reduce the problem of information asymmetry. Thus, we applied an Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression. Both Taiwan and India demonstrated signal mitigation of information asymmetry, but Taiwan showed a stronger relationship between ambitious goals and successful projects than India. The relative importance of project comments has been found to be stronger in Taiwan than in India; the relative importance of project updates has been found to be weaker and negatively correlated with project success in India, in contrast to Taiwan. Notably, our findings provide a theoretical and practical framework for understanding and using signals in successful crowd funding campaigns and activities in these two emerging countries.

미완의 만보자 -도시의 시선으로 『군중의 남자』 읽기 (The Unfulfilled Journey of a Flâneur: Reading "The Man of the Crowd" through the Eyes of the City)

  • This paper argues that what Edgar Allan Poe pursues in ;The Man of the Crowd" (1840) is not a story that can be told but an active reading that must be mediated. It is not only because the subject of the pursuit, the secret of the flaneur, remains veiled until the end, but also because the story proves itself to be a reading of various kinds of other texts: that is, the contemporary urban texts as well as the city itself. Although the 'man of the crowd' and his double (i.e. the narrator) embrace the figure of a modern flaneur, it is highly questionable whether the image of flaneur in the story fully qualifies itself as that of an ideal stroller, who can represent the free spirit of a detached collector. Rather, the narrator's flaneur reflects a panoptic perspective, systematically hierarchizing the constituents of the city. Still, it should be noted that ;The Man of the Crowd" raises questions about the idea of creation and appropriation, observation and originality, and reading and storytelling by ascertaining the impossibility of reading and through assimilating to the contemporary texts not without subtle acknowledgement. In short, this novella tries a new way of storytelling, of which meaning is not to be found in creation but to be mediated in modern experiences.

Fish Schooling Animation System for Constructing Contents of Cyber Aquarium

  • The goal of researching a proper crowd animation is to design system that is satisfied with the reality of scenes, performance of system, and interaction with users to show the crowd vividly and effectively in virtual underwater world. In this paper, we smartly expressed the behavior patterns for flocks of fish in virtual underwater and we made up for the weak points in spending time and cost to produce crowd animation. We compared with the number of mesh, the number of fish, the number of frame, elapsed time, and resolution and analyzes them with the fish behavior simulating system. We developed a virtual underwater simulator using this system.

  • 본 논문에서는 모션켑쳐데이타를 이용한 두 캐릭터간의 빠른 충돌감지에 대한 연구를 논의한다. 본 연구의 목적이 군중 시뮬레이션이기 때문에, 제안한 알고리즘은 캐릭터를 실린더 형태로 모델링 한 후에 Rough한 충돌감지를 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 계층적인 바운딩 박스 데이타 구조인 MOBB를 제안한다. MOBB는 모션클립에 대한 시공간 바운딩 박스이며, 제안된 알고리즘에 대한 테스트 결과 2배 이상의 속도 향상이 있음을 밝힌다.

Must-have for Crowd-funding Projects: Credibility

  • The success of a crowd-funding project can be attributed to various reasons, among which, backer's (also known as 'investor', or 'funder') perception of project credibility may be a salient one. The purpose of this study is to investigate the extent to which perceived project credibility can affect a backer's investment decision. We examine the factors that could influence the building of perceived project credibility by testing the proposed research model using survey data. Analysis results indicate that perceived project credibility has a significantly positive effect on backer's investment intention. Furthermore, information quality and source credibility are two key determinants of perceived project credibility. This study contributes to crowd-funding literature by enriching the list of successful factors for fund-raising with project credibility. The study also has practical implications because it explains why and how a backer's perception of project credibility can be improved.

  • The resistance of crowd pressure is an important performance to be influential on safety of facility users among performances required for light weight walls of public facilities. This study has empirically evaluated the estimation of size of crowd pressure to be applied to a wall of structure. For the load analysis test, the force plate with stiffness of 28 kN/cm was designed and manufactured. For inspectors, 15 males in the age of 20s were selected. The action of putting load was set as instantaneous push of plate and continuous push. As the load was increased linearly from the weight of inspector, the size of load was indicated as the load ratio. In case of instantaneous force, about 1.18 times the weight of pushing personnel was acted as a load. In case of continuous push, about 0.80 times the weight of pushing personnel was acted as a load.

  • 본 논문에서는 센서 네트워크에서 군집 그룹의 관리 방안이다. 위험 지역을 탐색하는 네트워크의 경우, 군집 그룹의 운영에 의해 임무 수행에 대해 영향을 미치게 된다. 그룹 네트워크를 이끄는 이동 싱크 시스템은 그룹 센서 노드들에서 수집되는 위험 데이터에 따라 네트워크 형성을 달리할 수 있다. 동적인 네트워크 관리는 위험 상황에 대응하기 위하여 이동 싱크의 임무에서 중요한 역할을 제공한다.
