  • Design and experiments of a nondestructive system to inspect deterioration of ACSR-OC (ACSR Outdoor Cross-linked Polyethylene Insulated Wire usually used in HV overhead distribution lines presented in this paper. ACSR-OC conductor built to pollutants air for a long period would be easily progress to corrode so that it may lead to the reduction of the effective cross section area of conductors. A fault diagnosis system consisting of a solenoid sensor, a constant current source with RF frequency signal processing unit and a motor driver/controller designed and implemented. This instrument can dot the sensor output variation due to deterioration corrosion, continuously. As a result, it was shown such corrosion detector can readily be utilized estimating the diameter change due to deterioration overhead distribution lines and in giving an warning or inform before severe aged conductor lead to fail.

사다리꼴 상부 단면을 갖는 구리기둥 범프의 신뢰성 향상에 대한 연구 (Studies on Copper Pillar Bump with Trapezoidal Cross Section on the Top Surface for Reliability Improvement)

  • Modified structure of copper pillar bump which has trapezoidal cross section on the top region is suggested with simulation results and concept of fabrication process. Due to the large surface area of joint region between bump and solder in suggested structure, electro-migration effect can be reduced. Reduction of electro-migration is related with current density and joule heating in bump and investigated with finite element methods with variation of dimensional parameters. Mechanical characteristics are also investigated with comparing modified copper pillar bump and conventional copper pillar bump.

일정 열유속을 받는 곡관내에서의 맥동 열유동에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on Pulsatile Flow and Heat Transfer in a Curved Tube with Constant Heat Flux)

  • Characteristics of pulsatile flow and heat transfer have been studied numerically in the constant heat flux curved tube with periodic pressure gradient. As the Womersley number increases, the phase difference between the pressure gradient and the cross section averaged axial velocity becomes larger. In case of the Womersley number $\beta = 2$, when cross section averaged axial velocity reaches periodic state with time, the reverse and the natural flow coexist at phase angle, $\lambda = 1.44\pi$ and $\lambda =1.96\pi$. For all the Womersley numbers of present investigation, the time variation of wall temperature near inner wall is higher than that of near outer wall, independent of phase angle.

  • A flow field in a passage with periodically converging-diverging cross-section is investigated experimentally by PIV measurement. A tube with a sinusoidally wavy cross section is one of several devices employed for enhancing the heat and mass transfer efficiency due to turbulence promotion and unsteady vortical motion. While the numerical flow visualization results have been limited to the fully developed cases, existing experimental results of this flow were simple qualitative ones by smoke or dye streak test. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to produce quantitative flow data for fully developed and transient flow regime by the Correlation Based Correction PIV (CBC PIV) and to conjecture the analogy between flow characteristics and heat transfer enhancement with low pumping power. Another purpose of this paper is to examine the onset position of the transition and the global mixing, which results in transfer enhancement. At Re=2000, evidences of the global mixing are captured at 2.5 wavy module through the variation of RMS values and instantaneous velocity plot.

원형 실린더 후류 영역의 국소 열전달 특성 (Local Heat Transfer Characteristics in the Wake Region of a Circular Cylinder)

  • 본 논문에서는 실린더 후류 영역의 열전달 특성에 대한 실험결과를 보고하였다. 정체점(θ=0°)로부터 실린더 뒷면(θ=180°)까지 국소 열전달을 측정하였으며, 축 방향에 대한 누셀트 수의 변화도 조사하였다. 덕트 중앙에 비하여 덕트 벽면근처의 후류영역 열전달계수는 58% 정도 높게 측정되었으며, 종횡비와 열전달 경계조건의 영향도 조사하였다.

  • According to the variation of hydrostatic pressure on the central axis of deformable material, the V-shaped central bursting defect may be created on extrusion or drawing processes. The process factors whichaffect the generation of defects are die semi-angle, reduction ratio of cross-sectional area, friction factor, material properties and so on. The combination of these factors can determine the prossibility of defect creation and the shape of various round holes which have been created inside already. By the rigid plastic finite element method, this paper describes the observations of change in shape of a round hole with process conditions suchas die semi-angle, reduction ratio of cross-sectional area and friction factorat the unsteady state of axi-symmetrical extrusion process when the round hole is alreadyexisted inside the original billet, and also, the effects of process factors are investigated to prevent the possible defects.

  • 습도감지물질로서 PMMA박막을 사용하여 저항형 습도감지소자를 제조하고 그 특성을 조사하였다. PMMA에 DVB를 첨가하여 가교결합을 일으키고 여기에 PVA를 섞어 제조된 습도센서는 상대습도의 증가에 따라 저항의 변화를 나타내었으며, 흡착에 비해 탈착 시 약 3% 미만의 히스테리시스 특성을 나타내었다. 또한 제조된 소자는 좋은 장기안정도를 보였으며, 응답시간은 흡착시에는 약 7분, 탈착시에는 약 5분이었다.

Numerical study of flow of Oldroyd-3-Constant fluids in a straight duct with square cross-section

  • A finite volume method (FVM) base on the SIMPLE algorithm as the pressure correction strategy and the traditional staggered mesh is used to investigate steady, fully developed flow of Oldroyd-3-constant fluids through a duct with square cross-section. Both effects of the two viscoelastic material parameters, We and ${\mu}$, on pattern and strength of the secondary flow are investigated. An amusing sixteen vortices pattern of the secondary flow, which has never been reported, is shown in the present work. The reason for the changes of the pattern and strength of the secondary flow is discussed carefully. We found that it is variation of second normal stress difference that causes the changes of the pattern and strength of the secondary flow.

  • This paper presents the theoretical approach to describe the wave propagation in the waveguide with varying cross-section. The waveguides considered in this paper are stepped-rod, tapered-rod, and stepped rod with a tapered section at the middle of wave-transmission. The wave transmission ratio for displacement, stress, and power was calculated for these three rods. The distribution of the stress and displacement along the stepped rod with a tapered section was calculated and compared with the results obtained by FEM analysis.

Precise Digital Tracking Controller for CNC Machine Tools

  • The purpose of this paper is a fuzzy logic controller for XY positioning system. The overall control system consists of three parts, the position controller, the speed controller, the fuzzy logic controller. Precise tracking is achieved by fuzzy logic controller. In practice, such systems contain many uncertainties. Therefore, the XY positioning system must receive and evaluate the motion of all axis for a better contouring accuracy. Cross coupled controller utilizes all axis position error information simultaneously to produce accurate contours. However, the existing Cross coupled controllers cannot overcome friction, backlash and parameter variation. So, we propose a fuzzy logic controller of XY positioning system. Experimental results show that the proposed fuzzy logic controller is effective to improve the contouring accuracy of XY positioning system.
