Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between unhealthy eating behavior and depression in adolescents, with confounding variables adjusted. Methods: This study is a secondary analysis of the data collected from the 2013 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBWS). The analysis included 72,435 participants (36,655 male and 35,780 female). The data were analyzed by $x^2$ test, t-test, and logistic regression analysis using SPSS Version 21 by complex samples analysis. Results: Compared with male adolescents with healthy eating behavior, those who with unhealthy eating behavior were more likely to suffer depression with other factors controlled (OR=1.37, 1.07~1.75). On the other hand, female adolescents with unhealthy eating behavior were less likely to feel depressed compared with female adolescents with unhealthy eating behavior and with other factors controlled (OR=0.98, 0.64~1.50). However, it was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that healthy eating behavior may be a protective factor against depression in male adolescents, but not in female adolescents. Furthermore, our results suggest that the longitudinal associations between mental health and healthy eating behavior and other lifestyle factors are complex.
Objectives: The aim of this study is to verify relationship between suicidal ideation and associated socio-demographic, psychological and behavioral, violence, protective factors among in poor urban area adolescents in Peru. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in a sample of 981 secondary school adolescents in 2014 collaborating with Korea International Cooperation Agencies (KOICA) Peru office. For statistical analysis, Chi-square test, logistic regression analysis methods were used. Results: 14.0% of male and 37.1% of female were reported having suicidal ideation during the past 12 months. Suicidal ideation experience of male is affected by mother's education level, depression, life satisfaction, sexual intercourse experience, fight experience, insulted experience. Female is affected by depression, life satisfaction, sexual intercourse experience, insulted experience and physical abuse experience. Conclusions: Suicidal ideation experience in poor urban area of Peru is affected by socio-demographic, psychological and behavioral, violence factors. To solve and prevent suicide of adolescents in this kind of area, it is necessary to apply an integrated development program for parents and teachers to participate. For the sustainable preventive program, there is a need to introduce a counseling program, such as psychological counseling to adolescents suicide prevention programs.
Objectives: This study was conducted to determine factors related to glycemic control among Korean patients with diabetes. Methods: Data was collected from the Fourth (2007-2009) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) which was a nationwide, cross-sectional survey. The study participants who are available for hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) were 1,441 patients with diabetes aged 30 years and older. Poor glycemic control was defined as $HbA1c{\geq}7.0%$. Data were analysed using logistic regression. Results: The proportion of patients with the poor glycemic control ($HbA1c{\geq}7.0%$) was 49.5%. After adjusting for confounding factors, younger aged persons (30-49 years) were less likely to control the blood glucose than older aged persons (60-69 years) (Adjusted OR=0.533, 95% CI [0.295-0.960]) and longer duration of diabetes was positively related to poor glycemic control (Adjusted OR=2.018, 95% CI [1.418-2.873]). Conclusions: Age and duration of diabetes were significantly related to blood glucose control. Therefore, considering these factors is helpful for developing a strategy to improve blood glucose control in diabetes.

This study investigates the determinants of the likelihood of a tax re-audit in Korea. It adopts a researcher-administered questionnaire survey method for data collection. The survey questionnaire is randomly distributed to 1,120 individuals with tax-related knowledge and experience. Using a final sample of 342 responses, we conduct a cross-sectional regression analysis to test our hypotheses. The results show that the level of tax non-compliance significantly affects the likelihood of a tax re-audit. This finding suggests that the increase in re-audits in Korea is attributable to the tendency of the tax authority to conduct a re-audit to detect taxpayers' non-compliance behavior by excessively broadening the scope of re-audits. This study also finds that the level of tax non-compliance is influenced by the perception of procedural unfairness, measured by operational inconsistency and regulatory lack of clarity. Lastly, the results reveal that the level of tax non-compliance mediates the relationship between the perception of procedural unfairness and likelihood of a tax re-audit. This finding indicates that enhancing procedural fairness could fundamentally reduce unnecessary re-audits that infringe on the rights of taxpayers, as the likelihood of a tax re-audit is not solely determined by the level of tax non-compliance but also by perceived procedural fairness.
The aim of this study was ti investigate the effects if socio-demographic factors, oral symptoms and oral health behaviors on dental caries. The multiple logistic regression was executed on oral health examination records and the information among all civil servants obtained by the National Health Insurance Corporation(NHC). The purpose of this study are to insure flow rate for rural stream in the rural area. The analysis of drying stream characteristics for two streams(Bong-mu, Wang-jang stream) from field survey data. Also, a study area has been determined, and criteria of estimation has been established : criteria such as, available hydrological data, the size of stream lengths and basin areas and regional characteristics. The spacial analysis is applied to stream slopes for upstream and downstream at weirs, stream networks and ground water pump stations, sinuosity of drying stream. As a result of drying streams survey analysis, drying stream characteristics are followed; levee types are earth and natural, cross sectional shapes are trapezoid, stream bed materials are gravels and sands, facilities in streams are weirs. The cause of the reduction analyzed by investigation of the current status of facilities for agricultural water use. Agricultural reservoirs block up the stream and water does not flow over the reservoirs except by storm. They also discharge water through diversion channels and the water diverted does not flow through the natural stream. Farmers directly take water from the stream by weirs.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between sleep duration, quality of sleep and depression, and to identify the factors associated with depression in middle school students. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design with secondary data, middle school student panel data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (2018), and data from a total of 2,590 students was used for analysis. For the statistical analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression were performed using SPSS ver. 26. Results: The mean depression score in adolescents was 17.99±6.38. Depression had significant differences according to sleep duration and quality. Adolescents with less than eight hours of sleep showed the highest depression, and poor sleepers showed higher depression scores than good sleepers. Gender, school achievement, school satisfaction, economic status, and exercise time were found to significantly relate to depression. After controlling for general characteristics, depression explained 17.2% of the variance in quality of sleep (β=-.15, p<.001) and sleep duration (β=-.04, p=.022). Conclusion: These findings indicate that it is necessary to develop intervention strategies to enhance the quality of sleep and appropriate sleep duration for preventing depression in adolescents.
Objectives: This study aimed (1) to share findings from the U.S. on customer use of social media for information seeking and sharing about food recall risks, and (2) to discuss the implications of the findings for the context of food safety and risk communication in Korea. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 1,026 social media users aged 18 years or older in the U.S., recruited from the Knowledge Network's nationally representative panel. Results: About 26 percent of respondents used social media either to seek or share food recall information in the past year, with social networking sites being the most popular tool. With respect to social media use for information seeking, being married, perceived risk of getting foodborne diseases, and trust in Internet were significant, positive predictors; being Whites and trust in health professionals were negative predictors. Social media use for information sharing was positively associated with education, being married, foodborne disease history, and perceived risk of foodborne diseases; Whites, income, and trust in health professionals were negative predictors. Conclusions: The study gives theoretical, methodological, and practical implications for the context of food safety and risks in Korea.
Purpose: This study was done to estimate the prevalence of atopic dermatitis (AD) and its risk factors for AD in children living in the community. Method: Random samples of 10,236 were selected from 43 kindergarten (1,418) and 57 elementary (8,718) students in K city. Data from 1,079 (kindergarten children) and 7,271 (elementary) students were used in the final analysis. The Korean-translated modified version of the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISSAC) questionnaire was used in this cross-sectional survey. Parents answered the survey questionnaire. Results: The lifetime and last 12-month prevalence of AD were 40.15%; 30.86% in kindergarten children and 33.56%; 25.37% in elementary children. The lifetime and last 12-month prevalence of AD diagnosis were 40.8%; 18.68% in kindergarten children and 34.36%; 12.63% in elementary children. The lifetime prevalence of AD treatment was 25.93% in kindergarten children and 22.07% in elementary children. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that risk factors for AD were age, allergic disease, age of house, carpets, pets. Conclusion: The study suggests that prevalence of AD has increased among children in the community. These data can be used to manage possible risk factors that are predictors of childhood AD.
Purpose: The goal of this study was to examine the association between perceived racial discrimination and substance use and the potential moderating effect of perceived parental affection between the two variables. Methods: A total of 101 Korean American adolescents participated in this cross-sectional study utilized an online survey. Descriptive statistics were used to describe for means and frequencies and the patterns of substance use. Logistic regression analysis was also used to examine the association between perceived discrimination and substance use. Results: Ninety percent of the participants reported perceiving racial discrimination, and 21% had used at least one kind of substance in the month prior to taking the survey. The most frequently used substance was alcohol, followed by marijuana and tobacco products. Logistic regression analysis revealed a link between perceived racial discrimination and substance use (OR = 1.74, 95% CI = 1.01, 3.00). However, parental affection did not moderate between racial discrimination and substance use. Conclusion: These findings suggest that perceived racial discrimination is positively associated with substance use among Korean American adolescents, and health care providers, counselors, and school nurses should screen for discrimination-related stress and substance use in this population.
