  • In this paper, we propose a new double talk detection algorithm which detects near end signals with less degradation, tracking echo path variation of echo canceler simultaneously. Our method makes use of a cross-correlation between channel input signals and estimated error signals and a normalized cross-correlation between microphone input signals and estimated error signals. By combing thresholds for these cross-correlations pertinently, this algorithm discriminates between variation of echo path and occurrence of double talk. These two cross-correlation are used to detect double talk periods, tracking echo path variation. During the detection period, adjustive adaptive filter is ceased to prevent the echo canceler from being disturbed by near end signals. Also, the echo canceler will still be kept on for tracking any variation in echo path. Through computer simulation results, it was confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance, tracking echo path variation and detecting the double talk periods, than the Ye et. al's and the NLMS algorithms from ERLE viewpoint.

  • The spray characteristics of liquid jet in cross flow with variation of injection angle are numerically studied. Numerical analysis was carried out using KIVA code, which was modified to be suitable for simulating liquid jet ejected into cross flow. Wave model and Kelvin-Helmholtz(KH)/Rayleigh-Taylor(RT) hybrid model were used for the purpose of analyzing liquid column, ligament, and the breakup of droplet. Numerical results were compared with experimental data in order to verify the reliability of the physical model. Liquid jet penetration length, volume flux, droplet velocity profile and SMD were obtained. Penetration length increases as flow velocity decreases and injection velocity increases. From the bottom wall, the SMD increases as vertical distance increases. Also the SMD decreases as injection angle increases.

  • Natural frequencies of the transverse vibration of beams with step change in cross-section are obtained by using the asymptotic closed form solution. This closed form solution is found by using WKB method under the assumption of slowly varying properties, such as mass, cross-section, tension etc., along the beam length. However, this solution is found to be still very accurate even in the case of large variation in cross-section and tension. Therefore, this result can be easily applied to many engineering problems.

  • This study presented the new evaluation index which can evaluate the discrimination of DEA models. To evaluate the discrimination of DEA models, data were analyzed using importance index as suggested in previous study and the coefficient of variation as suggested in this study for the discrimination evaluation. This study selected the CCR-DEA, BCC-DEA, entropy, bootstrap, super efficiency, and cross efficiency DEA model for the discrimination evaluation and accomplished empirical analysis. In order to grasp the rank correlation of the models, this study implemented the rank correlation analysis between the efficiency of CCR model and BCC model and entropy, bootstrap, super efficiency, and efficiency of the cross efficiency model. The obtained results of this study are as follows. First, the discrimination rank of models using the importance index and the coefficient of variation was shown to be identical. Therefore, the coefficient of variation can be used the discrimination evaluation index of DEA model. Second, the discrimination of the super efficiency model was found to be the highest rank among 4 models according to the analysis of this present study. Third, the highest rank correlation with CCR model was the super efficiency model. In addition, the super efficiency model was found to be the highest rank correlation with BCC model.

  • This study investigated the variation in fruit characteristics between different triploid progenies derived from a cross between tetraploid and diploid grape cultivars, with the aim of developing high quality, labor-saving triploid grapes. No differences were found in fruit quality traits such as soluble solids content and titratable acidity, whereas significant variation was noted in cluster weight induced by a one-time application of GA3 (100 ppm) on the triploid progeny of different cross combinations. The cluster weight was higher in progeny obtained from 'Kyoho' ${\times}$ 'Sekirei' than for offspring derived from other cross combinations; deviation in the mean cluster weight was also small for 'Kyoho' ${\times}$ 'Sekirei' progeny. These results suggest that specific cross combinations, such as 'Kyoho' ${\times}$ 'Sekirei', can be used to efficiently breed new, labor-saving seedless grape cultivars.

  • This study was performed as part of a research project aimed at developing an ultrasonic computed tomography (CT) system of wood for field application. In this reports, we investigate the variation of wave velocities on the cross section of real size wooden structural member to confirm the reason of image distortion on CT image of wood, and then proposed a new image reconstruction method by considering the velocity variation on wood cross section. First of all, the effect of wood anisotropy on ultrasonic velocities of wooden members was investigated. Based on the relationship between ultrasonic velocity and annual ring angle, which was obtained from test results of small clear specimens, ultrasonic velocities of each measuring angle were predicted. Next, they were compared with the ultrasonic velocities measured on five wood disks. There were very large differences between predicted and measured results, thought to be caused by the skewing effect of ultrasound and the presence of juvenile-wood. Based on these findings, a new method was proposed to reconstruct cross-sectional image of wood. By using this method, some distortions on reconstructed images could be removed, and defects were more easily and clearly detected. The minimum size of detectable defect was decreased remarkably, from 33 mm to 13 mm. However, the size of the detected defect was enlarged and the position somewhat shifted to the specimen surface on the CT images, which was also thought to be caused by the skewing effect of ultrasound. Additional research has been planned to solve these problems.

  • Clothing shape is principally described in seven factors that are composed of clothing design, clothing material, clothing size, pattern design, sewing method and body motion etc.. The aims of this study was to measurement out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with somato type by using the image processing. The subjects for direct anthropometric measurements were 248 female college students aged from 19 to 22. The data were statistically analyzed by principal analysis and cluster analysis. The results were obtained three somato type. Also I made skirts in order to analyzed to the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body. The effect of somato type on the shape of flare skirts was determined by the out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body. The out-line space-shape variation of clothing fitness with body was observed between the node number and amplitudes of clothing wave form and node number was determined at the maxim of space-shape amplitude, and the space-shape amplitudes have related with aspect ratio of cross-sectional shape. Results for flare skirts show changes in amplitude and mean with fabrics, somato type. therefore gray-level histogram are correlated with changes out-line space-shape, differences in drape spacing and related fabric properties and their somato type. • During the winter of 2017/2018, significantly low water temperatures were detected around the western and southern coasts of Korea (WSCK). In this period, sea surface temperature (SST) in the Korea Waters was about $2^{\circ}C$ lower than mean temperature. Using the real-time observation system, we analyzed the temporal variation of SST during this period around the western and southern coasts. Low water temperature usually manifested over a period of about 10 ~ 20 days. The daily Arctic oscillation index was also similarly detectable with the variation of SST. From the cross-correlation function, we compared two periodic variations, which were SST around the WSCK and the Arctic oscillation index. The cross correlation coefficients between both variations were approximately 0.3 ~ 0.4. The time lag of the two time series was about 6 to 7 days. Therefore, significantly low water temperatures during winter in the Korean coastal areas usually became detectable 6 to 7 days after the negative peak of Arctic oscillation.

  • In this paper, we describe a cross-morpheme pronunciation variation model which is especially useful for constructing morpheme-based pronunciation lexicon to improve the performance of a Korean LVCSR. There are a lot of pronunciation variations occurring at morpheme boundaries in continuous speech. Since phonemic context together with morphological category and morpheme boundary information affect Korean pronunciation variations, we have distinguished phonological rules that can be applied to phonemes in within-morpheme and cross-morpheme. The results of 33K-morpheme Korean CSR experiments show that an absolute reduction of 1.45% in WER from the baseline performance of 18.42% WER was achieved by modeling proposed pronunciation variations with a possible multiple context-dependent pronunciation lexicon.

  • When a cantilever beam rotates about the axis perpendicular to its longitudinal axis, its natural frequencies vary. This phenomenon which is caused by centrifugal inertia forces is often referred to as the stiffening effects. Since the variation of natural frequencies often creates critical problems for the rotating structures, it is necessary to control the variation of natural frequencies. As the cross section of a rotating cantilever beam varies, natural frequencies can be changed. The thickness and the width of the cantilever beam are assumed to be cubic spline functions in the present work. An optimization method is employed to find the optimal thickness and width of the rotating beam. This result can be used for the design of rotating structures such as turbine and helicopter blades.
