Smoothing Parameter Selection Using Multifold Cross-Validation in Smoothing Spline Regressions

  • The smoothing parameter $\lambda$ in smoothing spline regression is usually selected by minimizing cross-validation (CV) or generalized cross-validation (GCV). But, simple CV or GCV is poor candidate for estimating prediction error. We defined MGCV (Multifold Generalized Cross-validation) as a criterion for selecting smoothing parameter in smoothing spline regression. This is a version of cross-validation using $leave-\kappa-out$ method. Some numerical results comparing MGCV and GCV are done.

  • Fierce competition in today's global markets, the heightened expectation of customers have forced business enterprises to invest in, and focus attentions on, their Supply Chains, Also Cross Docking is an essential part of SC, and integrating Cross Docking with vehicle routing scheduling is needed to smoothly link the physical flow of SC, However, there is no the mathematical model which focuses on Cross Docking with vehicle routing scheduling. Therefore, the integrating model considers Cross Docking and vehicle routing scheduling will be developed in this paper. And the solution based on Tabu algorithm to this model will be provided.

  • This paper presents the confinement effect of transverse reinforcement and cross-tie in hollow rectangular sectional columns. 20 analytical models with different amounts of transverse reinforcement and cross-tie in a plastic hinge region were analyzed by 3D nonlinear FEM. The analytical results show that the higher ductility can be achieved by the resonable combination of transverse re-bar and cross-tie providing sufficient lateral confinement.

  • The shrink parameter in ridge regression may be contaminated by outlying points. We propose robust cross validation scores in ridge regression instead of classical cross validation. We use robust location estimators such as median, least trimmed squares, absolute mean for robust cross validation scores. The robust scores have global robustness. Simulations are performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed estimators.

Natural Frequencies of Beams with Step Change in Cross-Section

  • Natural frequencies of the transverse vibration of beams with step change in cross-section are obtained by using the asymptotic closed form solution. This closed form solution is found by using WKB method under the assumption of slowly varying properties, such as mass, cross-section, tension etc., along the beam length. However, this solution is found to be still very accurate even in the case of large variation in cross-section and tension. Therefore, this result can be easily applied to many engineering problems.

Optimal Design for Marker-assisted Gene Pyramiding in Cross Population

  • Marker-assisted gene pyramiding aims to produce individuals with superior economic traits according to the optimal breeding scheme which involves selecting a series of favorite target alleles after cross of base populations and pyramiding them into a single genotype. Inspired by the science of evolutionary computation, we used the metaphor of hill-climbing to model the dynamic behavior of gene pyramiding. In consideration of the traditional cross program of animals along with the features of animal segregating populations, four types of cross programs and two types of selection strategies for gene pyramiding are performed from a practical perspective. Two population cross for pyramiding two genes (denoted II), three population cascading cross for pyramiding three genes(denoted III), four population symmetry (denoted IIII-S) and cascading cross for pyramiding four genes (denoted IIII-C), and various schemes (denoted cross program-A-E) are designed for each cross program given different levels of initial favorite allele frequencies, base population sizes and trait heritabilities. The process of gene pyramiding breeding for various schemes are simulated and compared based on the population hamming distance, average superior genotype frequencies and average phenotypic values. By simulation, the results show that the larger base population size and the higher the initial favorite allele frequency the higher the efficiency of gene pyramiding. Parents cross order is shown to be the most important factor in a cascading cross, but has no significant influence on the symmetric cross. The results also show that genotypic selection strategy is superior to phenotypic selection in accelerating gene pyramiding. Moreover, the method and corresponding software was used to compare different cross schemes and selection strategies.

은행서비스 산업에서 교차구매 의도의 영향요인에 관한 연구 (Factors Affecting Cross-Buying Intentions in the Banking Industry)

  • 규제완화와 금융수요 다양화 등 금융환경 변화에 따라 세계적으로 겸업주의가 진행되면서 은행, 증권, 보험 등 여러 금융상품을 한 곳에서 판매하는 금융서비스의 융합현상이 확산되고 있다. 국내은행들은 주택담보대출의 제한으로 크게 위축된 주택시장과 수익성 둔화의 해결책을 찾기 위한 방법으로 교차판매에 주목하고 있다. 교차판매란 현재고객이 가지고 있는 것에 추가하여 부가적 제품과 서비스를 촉진하는 것이다. 교차판매는 은행에 안정적인 이익을 가져다줄 뿐 아니라 고객과의 관계를 지속시켜주는 역할을 하는 등, 부가적 서비스에 의한 고객가치 창조가 고객관계 관리를 위한 중요 수단임이 인식되어 최근에 그 중요성이 증가하는 추세이다. 본 연구의 목적은 고객의 교차구매 의도에 영향을 미치는 중요요인으로 인식된 관계마케팅변수들을 정서적 차원으로 제시하고 교차구매 의도에 영향을 미치는 여러 요인들을 수단적으로 차원으로 제시하여 교차구매 의도와의 관련성을 검증하고자 했다. 은행과의 거래관계를 유지하고 있는 소비자 484명을 대상으로 연구한 결과, 정서적 차원으로 제시된 만족, 신뢰, 몰입 등이 교차구매 의도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 그동안 교차구매 의도 연구에 소홀하게 다루어졌던 편의성, 전문성, DM등도 교차구매 의도에 정(+)의 영향을 가지는 것으로 실증분석 결과 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 은행산업이 고려해야 할 시사점을 제시하였다.

Cross-talk Cancellation Algorithm for 3D Sound Reproduction

  • If the right and left signals of a binaural sound recording are reproduced through loudspeakers instead of a headphone, they are inevitably mixed during their transmission to the ears of the listener. This degrades the desired realism in the sound reproduction system, which is commonly called 'cross-talk.' A 'cross-talk canceler' that filters binaural signals before they are sent to the sound sources is needed to prevent cross-talk. A cross-talk canceler equalizes the resulting sound around the listener's ears as if the original binaural signal sound is reproduced next to the ears of listener. A cross-talk canceler is also a solution to the problem-how binaural sound is distributed to more than 2 channels that drive sound sources. This paper presents an effective way of building a cross-talk canceler in which geometric information, including locations of the listener and multiple loudspeakers, is divided into angular information and distance information. The presented method makes a database in an off-line way using an adaptive filtering technique and Head Related Transfer Functions. Though the database is mainly concerned about the situation where loudspeakers are located on a standard radius from the listener, it can be used for general radius cases after a distance compensation process, which requires a small amount of computation. Issues related to inverting a system to build a cross-talk canceler are discussed and numerical results explaining the preferred configuration of a sound reproduction system for stereo loudspeakers are presented.
