A Study on Surrealistic Expression in Modern Fashion - Focusing on Surrealistic Fashion in 1990s -

  • At the outset, surrealism starts from pure art, but surrealism has greatly influenced commercial art and fashion circles, more so than any other genre of art. The critical thinking methods of surrealism and its mode of expression continues to influence fashion theory extensively. Even now, surrealism may be found in the designs presented in fashion circles and is still expected for future lines. Surrealism in modern fashion has been reborn, newly integrated and transformed, based on the features of Surrealism paintings. The characteristics of its forms can be found in a combination of modern material, modern design and new skills and the classical items : bodyform molding context of architecture, experimental and sex-appealing of body. Expression was made by borrowing natural motives and recreating natural fabrics while the existing typical idea about clothes was destructed, with the boundary of patterns changed. Expression was also made by mixing items, uniting future images, and using up-to-date functional techniques. This study is significant that up-to-date technological culture expands cyber-space and increases surrealistic expressions by combined heterogeneous materials, thus arousing much interest. The purpose of this study is to determine interrelationship between how surrealism developed and what formative properties those clothes affected by surrealism obtained in the 1990s.

문자인식을 위한 신경망컴퓨터에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Neural Network for the Character Recognition)

  • This paper proposed a neural computer architecture for the learning of script character pattern recognition categories. Oriented filter with complex cells preprocess about the input script character, abstracts contour from the character. This contour normalized and inputed to the ART. Top-down attentional and matching mechanisms are critical in self-stabilizing of the code learning process. The architecture embodies a parallel search scheme that updates itself adaptively as the learning process unfolds. After learning ART self-stabilizes, recognition time does not grow as a function of code complexity. Vigilance level shows the similarity between learned patterns and new input patterns. This character recognition system is designed to adaptable. The simulation of this system showed satisfied result in the recognition of the hand written characters.

  • TSI(Technical Specification for Interoperability) is the highest technical specification in the Europe Railway and is composed by assessment items and essential requirements included by safety, reliability, availability, health, environment protection and technical compatibility. It is used on the research and development in the next generation railway technical. Currently, TSI procedures have been asked to bid for high speed rail business in Europe and Brazil. Also, all the railway systems such as infrastructure, signaling, electric and rolling stock system corresponding with standard of TSI procedures are exported and imported. Recently, Safety Critical System which has been studied on future railway R&D business in Korea is the state of the art train control system. And it is needed for system assessment of TSI procedures before system test and operation. In this paper, basic research is performed for analyzing TSI procedures suitable for the state of the art train control system in Korean railway.

Feature Recognition: the State of the Art

  • Solid modeling refers to techniques for unambiguous representations of three-dimensional objects. Feature recognition is a sub-discipline focusing on the design and implementation of algorithms for detecting manufacturing information such as holes, slots, etc. in a solid model. Automated feature recognition has been an active research area in stolid modeling for many years, and is considered to be a critical component for CAD/CAM integration. This paper gives a technical overview of the state of the art in feature recognition research. Rather than giving an exhaustive survey, I focus on the three currently dominant feature recognition technologies: graph-based algorithms, volumetric decomposition techniques, and hint-based geometric reasoning. For each approach, I present a detailed description of the algorithms being employed along with some assessments of the technology. I conclude by outlining important open research and development issues.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a new design principles and to analyze the pattern of art and architecture applying fractal concepts. As this study is based on fractal geometry as a natural science, 1 intented to explain the concepts and provide some methods of generating fractal properties. Two major aspects are discussed. Frist, fractals are geometric shapes that are self-similar, in other words, they iterate a basic shape at ever increasing a decreasing dimensions. Self-similarity, irregularity, and scaling are fundamental characteristics of fractal geometry. Second, the fractal concepts of art and design can be analyzed and used as a critical tool. In both criticism and design, fractals provides a tool In fine, fractal geometry can be provided endless possibilities for artists and designers intended in expressing the more complex underlying rhythms and organic patterns of nature.

  • '문화 전쟁(Culture Wars)'은 1980년대 말부터 1990년대 초 미국에서 보수주의자와 진보주의자 사이에 벌어진 문화적 논쟁을 일컫는다. 이 용어는 제임스 헌터(James Hunter)의 책 "문화 전쟁: 미국을 정의하려는 노력(Culture Wars: The Struggle to Define America)"의 출간으로 대중화되었고, 당시 공화당 대통령 후보였던 패트릭 부캐넌(Patrick Buchanan)에 의해 급부상하게 된다. 그는 "이 나라에는 지금 종교 전쟁, 즉 냉전만큼 중요한 '문화 전쟁'이 일어나고 있고, 이것은 미국의 영혼을 위한 전쟁이다." 라고 부르짖으며 급변하는 문화 정체성의 위기 속에서 미국적인 전통을 지키고자 하였다. 이 문화 전쟁은 여러 다양한 논쟁을 함의하고 있었는데, 교목제도의 폐지, 교육기관에서의 다문화주의(multiculturalism) 커리큘럼 도입, 동성애자의 군복무, 낙태, 총기 소지 등의 허용 문제로 당시 미국의 교육계, 문화계뿐만 아니라 정치계, 입법부에서도 첨예한 대립 구도를 형성하였다. 미술계에서 가장 치열했던 문화 전쟁은 안드레 세라노(Andres Serrano)의 작품전과 ${\ll}$로버트 메플소프: 완벽한 순간(Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Moment)전${\gg}$이 공공기금인 국립예술진흥기금(National Endowments for the Arts, NEA)의 지원을 받아 개최되는 것이 타당한 것이냐에 대한 논쟁에서 표출되었다. 이 두 전시를 기점으로 그 뒤로도 여러 미술 전시회와 음악회, 연극 등을 둘러싼 NEA 기금 지원과 관련한 분쟁은 한동안 계속된다. 이 글은 이러한 미술계 문화 전쟁의 발전 과정과 몇몇 논점에 초점을 맞추되, 세라노나 메플소프의 작품 자체를 분석하고 비평하는 글이 아님을 밝혀 둔다. 본 연구는 분쟁의 전개에 대한 상세한 기술적, 연대기적 조사보다는 그 발단과 전개 과정에서 몇 가지 핵심적인 사항들을 기술하고, 이 사항들이 암시하는 정치적, 미학적, 미술사적 시각의 충돌에 대해 지적하는 글이 될 것이다. 더 나아가 당시 이러한 논쟁이 미국 미술계에 의미하던 것, 미국 문화 전체에 의미하던 것은 과연 무엇인가에 대한 비평적 질문으로 글을 맺고자 한다.

시각문화교육과 디지털 미디어 시대의 애니메이션 교육의 방향 (Animation Education as VCAE in the Digital Age)

  • 시각문화교육은 포스트 모더니즘 이후, 미술교육의 새로운 패러다임이라고 볼 수 있다. 시각문화교육은 전통적인 미술교육에서 우리 주변을 둘러싸고 있는 시각 환경으로 그 관심의 폭을 확대하였으며, 전통적인 순수예술에서 대중문화 및 영상예술 등으로 미술교육의 관심을 폭넓게 확장해 왔다. 시각문화교육은 이미지를 둘러싼 사회문화적 맥락에 주목하고, 비주얼 리터러시 능력을 강조하며 구성주의적인 학습을 강조한다는 면에서 문화예술교육의 이슈와 많은 부분을 공유하고 있으며, 실제로 문화예술교육의 주요한 이론적 배경이기도 하다. 이 글에서는 디지털 미디어 시대와 더불어 중요성을 더해가고 있는 애니메이션 교육의 방향성을 제시하기 위해, 시각문화교육의 이론적 배경 및 이슈를 살펴보고, 이와 관련하여 애니메이션 교육의 방향을 제시하였다. 시각문화교육은 1970년대 이후의 진보적인 문화적 배경 아래에서 탄생하였으며, 그 요지는 개인적이고 사회적인 삶의 개선을 위해 시각적 인공물과 그 행위의 의미를 파악하는 것이다. 그러나 시각문화교육은 시각문화 양상의 변화에 따라 지속적으로 발전 중이며, 현재에는 시각문화에서의 미적 체험교육이나, 디지털 스토리텔링을 통한 의미 구성등으로 그 관심을 확장하는 중이다. 디지털 미디어 시대의 시각환경에서 애니메이션은 시각문화의 중심에 자리잡고 있으며, 애니메이션은 하나의 예술장르, 혹은 테크놀러지를 넘어 시각문화 전반에 걸쳐 이미지가 구현되는 형식이기도 하다. 그간 시각적 의사소통 및 비판적 문화 읽기 등을 강조해 온 시각문화교육 또한 미술교육의 체험에서 이해, 감상에 이르기까지 전 영역에 있어서 디지털-애니메이션 시각문화의 새로운 양상을 반영할 필요가 있을 것이다. 이 글에서는 애니메이션 교육 영역의 확장, 범교과적 접근, 사회재건주의적 교육철학, 애니메이션 리터러시 등을 강조하였다. 시각문화교육적 관점에 기초한 애니메이션 교육의 연구는 애니메이션 교육의 정립에 이론적 토대가 될 뿐 아니라 전통적인 비판적으로 텍스트 읽기중심의 시각문화교육을 내용적으로 풍부하고 동시대적이고 미래적인 방향성에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

재앙적 예술과 그 도구화된 선별체계: 헌터 조너킨과 댄 퍼잡스키의 작품으로부터 (Catastrophic Art and Its Instrumentalized Selection System : From work by Hunter Jonakin and Dan Perjovschi)

  • In terms of element and process, art today has already been fully systemized, yet tends to become even more systemized. All phases of creation and exhibition, appreciation and education, promotion and marketing are planned, adjusted, and decided within the order of a globalized, networked system. Each phase is executed, depending on the system of management and control and diverse means corresponding to the system. From the step of education, artists are guided to determine their styles and not be motivated by their desire to become star artists or running counter to mainstream tendency and fashion. In the process of planning an exhibition, the level of artist awareness is considered more significant than work quality. It is impossible to avoid such systems and institutions today. No one can escape or be freed from the influence of such system. This discussion addresses a serious distortion in the selection system as part of the system connotatively called "art museum system," especially to evaluate artistic achievement and aesthetic quality. Called "studio system" or "art star system," the system distinguishes successful minority from failed absolute majority and justifies the results, deciding discriminative compensations. The discussion begins from work by Hunter Jonakin and Dan Perjovschi. The key point of this discussion is not their art worlds but the shared truth referred by the two as the collusive "art market" and "art star system." Through works based on their experiences, the two artists refer to these systems which restrict and confine them. Jonakin's Jeff Koons Must Die! is avideo game conveying a critical comment on authoritative operation of the museum system and star system. In this work, participants, whether viewer or artist, are destined to lose: the game is unwinnable. Players take the role of a person locked in a museum where artist Jeff Koons' retrospective is held. The player can either look around and quietly observe the works, which causes a game-over, or he can blow the classical paintings to pieces and cause the artist Koons to come out and reprimand the player, also resulting in a game-over. Like Jonakin, Dan Perjovschi's some drawings also focuses on the status of the artist shrunken by the system. Most artists are ruined in a process of competition to survive within the museum system. As John Burger properly pointed out, out of the art systems today, public collections (art museums) and private collections have become "something unbearable." The system justifies the selection system of art stars and its frame of reference, disregarding the problem of producing numerable victims in its process. What should be underlined above all else is that the present selection system seriously shrinks art's creative function and its function of generating meaning. In this situation, art might fall to the level of entertainment, accessible to more people and compromising with popularity. This discussion is based on assumption and consciousness on the matter that this situation might cause catastrophic results for not only explicit victims of the system but also winners, or ones defined as winners. The system of art is probably possible only by desire or distortion stemmed from such desire. The system can be flourished only under the economic system of avarice: quantitatively expanding economy, abundant style, resort economy in Venice and Miami, and luxurious shopping malls with up-to-date facilities. The catastrophe here is ongoing, not a sudden emergence, and dynamic, leading the system itself to a devastating end.

  • The support bearing requires high DN to raise specific energy efficiency for the state of the art rotating machine with high speed. Especially for the system has a big rotor(670 kgf) with high speed(about one million DNs) such as the pulsed generator, the selection of the bearing and lubrication method are very important. So the study for the critical speed of hollow rotor as well in accordance with high speed rotor and a full analysis are needed for rotor bearing system. This paper describes the analysis for rotor bearing system of pulsed generator compared with experimental data. The bearing and lubrication method are discussed as well with experimental data.

간호학생의 비판적, 반영적 임상실습 경험 내용분석 - 임상실습 지식 습득 과정 - (Content Analysis of the Student Nurse's Critical-reflective Clinical Practice Experience)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine what effect reflection on clinical practice experience had students as learners and care providers. Qualitative research method was used to study a group of four-year undergraduate nursing course. Content analysis was done using the classification method of Carper's four patterns of knowing. Results of the study indicated that the use of the reflective process of clinical debriefing and journaling was impact on the aspect of nursing science, moral component of knowledge in nursing, personal knowing in nursing and the art of nursing. Especially, students moved from a passive to a more active mode of learning. The most significant finding was that over time, reflective processes resulted in the emergence of the client as the central focus of care. It was suggested that reflection was an important learning tool in professional education and that the skills required for reflection need to be developed in professional courses.
