  • This study deals with the prediction of crack propagation in concrete mortar subjected to static and dynamic load. Total 54 CLWL-DCB(Crack-line-loaded-double-cantilever beam) concrete mortar specimens were tested to measure crack growth using ASTM 561-80. Main variables were sand to cement ratio and water to cement ratio. The resulting load(P)-COD(Crack Opening Displacement; $2V_1$) curves and COD-CTOD (Crack Tip Opening Displacement; $2V_2$) curves were analyzed to calculate effective crack length and physical crack length by way of ASTM 561-80 proposed. Replica crack length were also obtained directly during the test. The differences in crack propagation between under static load and under dynamic load were investigated.

  • Effects of strain hardening exponents on the behavior of fatigue crack propagation are experimentally investigated. The retardation effect of fatigue crack propagation after single overloading is investigated in relation to strain hardening exponent and crack closure. A relationship between crack opening ratio and strain hardening exponents is inspected through an examination of the crack closure behavior. An empirical equation relating retardation effect of fatigue crack propagation after single overloading, percent peak load and strain hardening exponent of materials is proposed.

  • The most important material parameters are fracture energy and the stress-crack opening displacement($\sigma$-w) curve to determine the behavior of concrete. Especially, the relationship between the $\sigma$-w curve is strongly important to determine the load-displacement curve of concrete that has a major influence on the fracture behavior of a concrete. In this paper, notched plain concrete beams with different strength level were tested under three-point bending and fracture energy, the load-deflection curve, and the load-crack mouth opening displacement(CMOD) curve were obtained from the experimental data. Also, the fictitious crack model(FCM) was applied to determine the load-deflection curve of notched plain concrete beams using various types of $\sigma$-w curve model proposed by Petersson and we compared experimental results with numerical ones carried out by Finite Element Method(FEM).

  • In order to investigate the corrosion fatigue characteristics in the weld of multi-pass welded A 106 Gr B steel pipe, corrosion fatigue tests were performed under the various stress ratios and 3.5 wt% NaCl solution at room temperature. The corrosion fatigue characteristic curves were represented using crack closure concept. The obtained results are as follows : when the load frequency is 1.0 Hz, the crack opening point is transited in the region of $K_{max}$=20∼32 MPaㆍ $m^{1}$2/. In the low stress intensity factor range, the crack opening point is higher than that in air. However, in the high stress intensity factor range, it is lower than that in air. In the cases of 0.1 Hz and 0.01 Hz, the crack opening point gradually decreases to $K_{min}$ with $K_{max}$ increase.rease.

  • This is an experimental study on the engineering characteristics of perforated reinforced concrete beams with shells. In the material matter of this study, the water cement ratio put 60%, the ratio of substitution of oyster shells to fine aggregate 30%. And in the structural matter, the form of opening put circle and square, the size of opening as the radius and the length of it changed from one to three times of the beam depth with a change presence and absence of reinforced steel around opening. All thirteen reinforced concrete beam tests composed one standard beam and twelve six beams with the circle and square opening were tested in shear strength under two points loading and compared and analyzed the characteristics of test beams under the same conditions one another. The results of the study showed as followed. 1) The initial crack load value of the opening test beams is similar the standard beam but the maximum load value decreased with increase in proportion of the opening size, in the square opening than the circle opening and in the absence than the presence of reinforced steel. 2) As the difference between the circle opening and the square opening beams is represented 2.17~9.8% in the maximum load value and the load capacity of the square opening suddenly decrease than it of the circle opening, it is judged because of the shortage of concrete section, the concentration of the stress in the corner of the square opening and material influence of shell substitution. 3) The failure figure such as the pattern of the crack and so on is represented brittle failure as the opening size is the bigger and the ratio of substitution is higher because of the lack material properties.

  • A modified $C^{*}$ integral as load parameter in creep fracture is proposed considering the effect of crack growth. It is shown that the parameter does not depend on crack velocity. By performing experiment using STS 304 stainless steel at 600.deg.C the validity of the parameter is investigated. The results show that the parameter is a good measure as a load parameter in creep fracture and the rate of crack tip opening displacement can also be a creep load parameter for STS 304 at 600.deg. • In this study, internal fatigue crack initiation and propagation behavior were investigated by triple piece spot welded specimen. To estimate fatigue life of the specimen varied with shape and thickness, Crack tip opening angle(CTOA) correlated with stress intensity factor was used as the stiffness parameter. The relation between fatigue life and CTOA can be arranged by the quantitative equation for each specimen by experiment. In addition, the variation of stress distribution was solved and the effect on fatigue crack behavior was examined by finite element method(FEM).

  • The objective of this paper is to provide experimental data on the propagation of curved crack-surfaces and the respective load-displacement diagrams for the validation of numerical models for cracking of concrete, subjected to three-dimensional stress states. To this end beam-shaped specimens are subjected to combined bending and torsional loading, leading to the formation of a spatially curved crack-surface. The experimental data contain the evolution of the load and of the strains at selected points in terms of the crack mouth opening displacement and the propagation of the crack surface.

  • SB41 material is welded automatically and is investigated some effects of the welding residual stress in the growth and propagation of fatigue crack, so as to study the fatigue behaviour in the welding residual stress field. The summarized results are as follows; 1) In case of the load amplitude is constant, as the stress ratio is changing to 0.1, 0.33 and 0.5 the propagation life is constant but the growth life decreases. And than, when maximum load or minimum load is constant as the stress ratio increases the growth life and propagation life. 2) It was shown that fatigue crack propagation ratio da/dN was almost constant regardless of the stress ratio change at constant load amplitude and that the larger stress ratio, the slower was the fatigue crack propagation ratio. 3) The opening ratio U is influenced by $K_max$ but it isn't only the function of $K_max$ because data range is very large. 4) The fatigue life of the specimens on tensile compressive residual stress field was decreased and increased respectably more than that of the base metal.
