A Study on Evaluation and Improvement of Web Coursewares (웹 코스웨어의 평가와 개선 방안)

  • A rapid growth in the number of Web courses has been reported in education as the Internet draws attention from the community. However, it should be noted that quality is more important than quantity in education. We need to emphasize on developing and distributing high quality Web materials to achieve high level of excellence in teaching and learning. This paper first addresses the issue of Web courseware evaluation and then analyzes techniques used in current Web courses and proposes technical requirements to improve the quality. Lastly, we show the results of visiting the Edunet, the largest educational site funded by the government, assessing the Web materials designed for elementary students, and propose what needs to be done to improve the quality.

  • 최근 컴퓨터 통신 기술의 발달로 인하여 교육분야에서의 컴퓨터 통신망을 이용한 학습의 효율성 증대에 대한 연구가 활발하다. 지금까지의 학습 방식은 교과목 특성의 개별성을 인식하지 못하거나 혹은 기술적인 문제점 등으로 인하여 학습자들에게 일관된 단답형이나 선다형의 학습 방식을 요구하여 왔다. 웹을 기반으로 한 원격 교육으로의 활용 측면에서 프랑스어와 같은 제2외국어의 경우, 한국어 환경에서의 프랑스어 악상 문자 입력이나 개별화된 저작 언어 개발 등의 문제점이 제기된다. $\lceil$Voila-web$\rfloor$ 은 한국어를 모국어로 하는 프랑스어 학습자들을 위한 교육 시스템으로 개별 교과목의 특성을 반영하고 능동적인 학습 방식을 통한 학습의 효율성 증대를 위한 시스템이다. 학습자들에게는 학습 자료의 전체적인 내용 흐름만을 제시하고 영역별 구체적인 자료의 전개는 다양한 교과 내용을 자유 항해할 수 있도록 설계되어 있다. 이는 학습자들로 하여금 통신망을 통한 컴퓨터 이용 학습의 장점을 기존의 학습 방식에 보완하여 보다 능동적인 학습 방식을 유도하여 학습의 효율성을 증대시킬 수 있다.

  • In this paper, We have developed the evaluation standards for web coursewares which can properly reflected each class-type teaching and learning theories, type of learning and characteristics of learners. We proved the proper of content, reliability and objectivity. Also, We have designed and developed the evaluation tool which runs on the web. The evaluation tools for the web coursewares developed in this paper presents the direction and standard to develop the web coursewares. Also, it will help learners to choose the web coursewares, because the evaluation results for web courseware notify on the web.

  • Recently, the demand for the customized courseware which is required from the learners is increased. Therefore the needs of the efficient and automated education agents in the web-based instruction are recognized. In this paper we propose a multi-agent system for course scheduling of learner-oriented using weakness analysis algorithm. At first proposed system analyze learner's result of evaluation and calculates learning accomplishment. From this accomplishment the multi-agent schedules the suitable course for the learner. The learner achieves an active and complete learning from the repeated and suitable course.

  • Underachievers, having had more experience with failure in teaming, tend to lose their self-confidence and motivation for study. If they achieve more when studying, they will enhance their self-confidence and motivation and their learning accomplishments will be increased. A game-style learning system was, therefore, developed in which the learner gains self-satisfaction and motivation with a proper 'hit and win' in a game-style program. The system supplies learning content automatically and randomly while adapting to the student's level by continuously checking the learning progress. Positive effects in motivation and learning achievement were recorded when underachievers used this program.

  • Even though studies on improvement of programming language teaching and learning have been made continuously and many education courseware for programming languages have been developed, computer programming learners' performance is relatively poor. Thus, in this paper, we designed and realized a web- based visual programming learning system by applying cognitive apprenticeship model to improve effect of computer programming education and then put this system into practice in class. As a result, we suggested that it can have positive influence upon learners' performance and their attitude.

  • WBI(Web Based Instruction) has been confined to some course due to a burden of development of instruction materials. In this paper, we implemented a personalized instruction and learning system for Word Processor based on Internet by using WBI. Compared to the traditional instruction and learning method for Word Processor Education, the proposed method induce students to take an interest in the learning and make it possible to do student oriented instruction and learning due to the selection of specific contents according to student's ability and his/her learning step. And this system can evaluate the learning rate on the spot by using personalized homework and maximize learning effect by using feedback.

  • A web-based instructor-learner system has changed the form into a learner-centered environment. Especially a self-regulated learning which is a self-leading and a positive learning, is an ideal learning, and the interest on it is more increasing. In this research, learners can organize the individualized course based on the learner's demand and learning level after making a contract process with the system, The self-regulated learning system which can recognize a learning status and result by analyzed data, and which can lead to a learning goal effectively by establishing a learning strategy, is designed and implemented. The proposed system provides the learner-centered learning environment which can process the differentiated and flexible individualized-teaming service considering an individual characteristic.

  • Korean cyber universities now provide higher education service to learners but the courses suffer major limitations of low quality and inefficient format of their learning contents. Because of the absence of any standard authoring strategy for learning contents, tutors develop their own courseware with various formats and content structures. In addition, the lack of association between content learners causes them difficulties in finding and reusing related contents. In this paper, we propose an authoring strategy foradvanced learning contents based on SCORM and ontology. Our strategy improvesthe reusability and associativity of learning contents. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed authoring strategy through developing learning contents such as understanding of digital contents.

  • 학습자들의 효과적인 학습을 위하여 구성주의 학습이론을 바탕으로 웹 기반 코스웨어를 설계하였다. 기존의 학습과정인 교과서, 멀티미어 타이틀, 웹을 기반으로 한 코스웨어 등이 개발되어 교육현장에서 적용되면서 학습자에게 학습 흥미유발 및 교육성취도 등에서 효과가 있는 것으로 많은 연구자료에서 검증되었다. 하지만 기존의 코스웨어들은 하나의 과정으로 순차적이며 단계적인 학습이 이루어지는 단점이 있어 본 논문에서는 이러한 점을 보완하였다. 학습자들이 각자의 경험과 지식에 바탕을 두어 여러 유형의 학습안중에서 각자에 맞는 학습안을 선택하여 학습하도록 하였다. 즉, 기존의 웹 기반 코스웨어의 장점을 살리면서 좀더 학습자에 맞는 웹 기반 코스웨어를 개발하여 적용하였다. 이러한 결과 구성주의 학습이론을 적용한 코스웨어가 학습자 중심의 능동적인 학습을 통해 학습 성취도를 높여주는 것으로 나타났다.
