Bioenergy emerges as a promising option for achieving the sustainable growth. However, bioenergy has poor cost competitiveness to the fossil fuels such as oil and coal. So many countries either developed or developing actively works for the implementation of various bioenergies. In this paper, the various supporting policies for the activation of the bioenergy business in the developed countries have been analyzed. Through the work, the desirable strategy for the promotion of bioenergy in our country have been suggested.

The nuclear power plant(NPP) construction is a mammoth project, which requires a huge construction budget and the long construction duration of about 7 years. Recently there is a trend to shorten the construction period, to save the construction cost and to ensure the competitiveness through adopting the open top construction method. In this method, the major equipment are moved into the building through its top, and the internal works of the reactor building are being in process without installation of a dome roof.

Space truss structures may be fabricated in any of several common grid configurations. With different configurations, the truss performance varies considerably affecting both its competitiveness and suitability for specific applications. The work presented in this paper is an assessment of the most commonly adopted truss configurations and their effect on truss characteristics such as the stiffness/weight value, member stress distribution, number of joints and members, degree of redundancy and cost. The study is parametric and covers wide variations of truss aspect ratios, boundary conditions and span/depth ratios. The results of this study could be of significant value to the design of space truss structures.

This study suggests that low cost companies should be created and entered into rail freight market and rail freight operation should be integrated into road transportation to increase the competitiveness of rail freight transportation and to supply door-to-door services. The purpose of this study is to establish the technical system of national logistics standardization and to strengthen the national competitiveness through reduction of the logistic cost We review of the government and private roles in the logistic sectors and suggest plans for the improvement of logistics standardization for its completion in the unit load system in Korea. We conclude that a symmetrical logistics standardization may accomplish to reduce the costs of national logistics.

The paper begin by examining shipbuilding in the context of competitiveness, specification and cost-effectiveness before considering the impact of safety requirements in the its operations. The basis of the safety case approach is then given, and its application to shipbuilding is illustrated by an example based on the use of staging in ship construction. The key conclusion is that the safety case approach provides the management with a technique for treating potential hazards in shipbuilding so that their risks can be kept within an acceptable level.

This study intended to identify the problems of the railroad which are raised as one of the 21C next-generation but to define the direction for the absence of the national policy and examine the competitiveness of railway transportation which is a Green Network with low environmental destruction and high energy efficiency as the continuable means of transportation for the 21st century with superiority to energy crisis caused by high oil price, conclusion of the Kyoto Protocol for worsened air pollution, and reduced cost of traffic jam.

Even though the TFT-LCD industry gained enough momentum that has been built up in past 10 years, the industry faces new challenges in order to maintain the 'true mainstream display' position in near future. In this paper, a technique for the shape design and analysis of rail fastener is presented. KRRI's own 3 type fasteners are developed after due consideration for tile aspects of installation, maintenance, and cost of fastener. Numerical by using commercial FEM program COSMOS/Works are carried out to determine the optimal shape of fastener clip. Front tile manufactured models and numerical results, the developed fasteners show tile possibility to be commercialized. But in order to have their competitiveness on the markets, further studies are required for the demonstration of performance through laboratory and field tests
