  • In this paper, the design of a novel 6-axis compliance device with force/torque sensing capability and the experiment results on force measurement are presented. Unlike the traditional control methods using a force/torque sensor with very limited compliance, the force control method employs a compliant device to provide sufficient compliance between an industrial robot and a rigid environment for more stable force control. The proposed compliance device is designed to have a diagonal stiffness matrix at the tip and uses strain gauge measurement which is robust to dust and oil. The measurement circuit is designed with low-cost IC chips however the force resolution is 0.04N.

  • The wire-arc process is a low-cost thermal spray method simply utilizes electrical energy to melt the feedstock wire. It is more userful for field applications, especially to coat large surface area. In this paper, a special Fe-based alloy coatings by using the wire-arc process were developed. Nanoscale composite coatings were achieved either during spraying or through a post heat treatment. As-sprayed Fe-based alloy coatings had been an amorphous matrix structure, after heating to $700^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes a solid state transformation occurred in the some fraction of amorphous matrix which resulted in the formation of nanostructured recrystallized phase. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and field emotional scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM) were applied to analyze the microstructure of the coatings. Additionally hardness and bend resistance of the Fe-based alloy coatings were examined, and these results were compared with those of partially stabilized zirconia(PSZ) coatings by using the plasma spray process.

  • We tried to obtain an initial velocity model for prestack depth migration via waveform inversion. For application of any field data we chose a smooth background layered velocity model (v=v0 + k x z) as an initial velocity model. Newton type waveform inversion needs to invert huge Hessian matrix. In order to compute full Hessian matrix arising from full aperture data and full illumination zone, we meet insurmountable difficulties of paying astronomical computing cost. For the layered media, approximate Hessian emerging from single shot aperture data can be used repeatedly for split spread source configuration. In our work of using this Hessian characteristic of layered media we attempted to obtain the approximate velocity model as close as possible to the true velocity model in first iteration.

  • Recent government policies are increasing interest in zero-energy housing, a building that minimizes energy consumption (90% reduction). As the importance of building passive performance is emphasized, the role of insulation is increasing as a way to reduce indoor heat loss in order to minimize the use of cooling and heating energy. There are two main types of insulation. Organic insulation is widely used for various construction structures such as construction and industrial due to some merits such as the convenience of construction and construction cost. However, it has been pointed out as a main cause every time a fire accident occurs, Jecheon Sports Center', the fire damage of buildings caused by the use of organic insulation materials is expanding to social problems, so it is urgent to research on nonflammable inorganic insulation materials.

  • Interface management problems inherent in construction projects hamper their successful delivery. Therefore, this study aimed at determining the most important project interfaces in construction works in Nigeria in terms of most significant potential impacts, so that management attention are objectively focused on potential highest impacting project interfaces. From a review of literature, 28 project interfaces management issues were identified and categorized. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data concerning the impact (estimated losses to the project in terms of cost) and probability of occurrence of the identified interfaces. The interfaces were ranked using their computed Matrix Scores (MS). The results reveal that "project-workers interfaces problem manifested in use of inappropriate mixes" is the highest impacting. A ranking of the interface categories also reveal that the interfaces at the execution phase of a project (MS = 1226.79) are those that could result in the highest losses to the project.

  • A novel wide viewing angle flexible liquid crystal display will be demonstrated. The crossed matrix-type micro-cell structure was adopted in this design. The LC domains were divided into four different tilted directions by the combination effect of pixel fringe field and crossed matrix type micro-cell. It can create four domains without rubbing process and form the cell gap without spacer. For flexible color fabrication, a novel inkjet printing technology is adopted. This cost effective wide viewing angle color flexible LCD technology can be a good solution for high performance flexible LCD.

  • Parallel processing has the potential to be cost effectively used on computationally intense power system problems. But this technology is not still available is not only parallel computer but also parallel processing scheme. Testing these algorithms to ensure accuracy, and evaluation of their performance is also an issue. Although a significant amount of parallel algorithms of power system problem have been developed in last decade, actual testing on processor architectures lies in the beginning stages. This paper presents the parallel processing algorithm to supply the base being able to treat power flow by newton's method by the distributed memory type parallel computer. This method is to assign and to compute teared blocks of sparse matrix at each parallel processors. The testing to insure accuracy of developed method have been done on serial computer by trying to simulate a parallel environment.

  • The TiB2-reinforced iron matrix nanocomposite (Fe-TiB2) was in-situ fabricated from titanium hydride (TiH2) and iron boride (FeB) powders by a simple and cost-effective process that combines the mechanical activation (MA) and a subsequent heat treatment (HT). Effect of milling factors and synthesized temperatures on the formation of the nanocomposite were presented and discussed. A differential thermal analyser (DSC-TG) was employed for examination of thermal behavior of MAed powders. Phases of the nanocomposite were confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The morphologies and microstructure of nanocomposite were investigated by field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Phase composition and distribution were analyzed by electron probe X-ray microanalysis (EPMA). Results showed that TiB2 particles formed in nanoscale were uniformly distributed in alloyed Fe matrix.

  • In this paper, we present a dynamic output-feedback receding horizon $H_{\infty}$controller for linear discrete-time systems with disturbance. The controller is obtained numerically from the finite horizon output-feedback $H_{\infty}$optimization problem, which is, in fact, hardly solved analytically. Under a matrix inequality condition on the terminal weighting matrix, the monotonic decreasing property of the cost is shown. This property guarantees both the closed-loop stability and the $H_{\infty}$norm bound. Then, we extend the proposed design method to a reference tracking problem and a problem for time-varying systems. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

  • This paper considers the problem of adaptive fault-tolerant guaranteed cost controller design via dynamic output feedback for a class of linear time-delay systems against actuator faults. A new variable gain controller is established, whose gains are tuned by the designed adaptive laws. More relaxed sufficient conditions are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), compared with the corresponding fault-tolerant controller with fixed gains. A real application example about river pollution process is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
