The research institute has a function to get the research outcome through the various experiments, data collection and analysis. Therefore, research building is important to keep the research condition or experiment environment. But buildings would be deteriorated and leaded into the deterrence of research. Maintenance is planned to protect the research building condition through various general repair or heavy repair. The heavy repair is generally conducted in massive repair scope or main components preparation. In this paper, it aimed at analyzing the effect of the massive or main components repair with inputted cost and its resulted output. In order to analyze the effect of a massive repair, it used the Benefit/Cost analysis and sensitivity analysis. Results of this study are as follows : The benefit/cost analysis shows that research building whose researcher continuously live and study has good effect. On the contrary, pace of the the experimental function is not good effect in benefit/cost analysis. But the experimental function is indispensible to get the research outcom for the research goal. Therefore, the experimental function will be planned to repair and get the historical repair data because the proper repair time would be prepared to cut down the repair cost.

Value Engineering(VE) has been recognized by many companies as a powerful and innovative technical approach for cost down and improvement in function of product and service. VE is a discipline which use an organized, creative approach to achieve the required function at the lowest cost. For the Purpose of developing new product, at this paper used the method of 2nd look VE developing bike helmet, in the order of selecting target, function analysis and writing alternative. The development of Helmet by the process of VE job plan, achieve the cost reduction of 27 million won for developing new product with customer's need.

본 논문은 학습하는 동안 은닉 노드의 출력에 대한 분산과 평균을 평가하는 새로운 cost function을 이용하여 불필요한 은닉 노드를 축소하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 cost function은 필요한 은닉 노드를 활성화시키고 불필요한 은닉 노드를 상수화 시켜 제거한다. 필기체 숫자인식을 통한 실험에서 제안한 방법은 높은 인식률과 단축된 학습 시간을 나타내며 은닉 노드의 수를 37.2%까지 축소할 수 있었다.

Traditionally one convex cost function for each generation is assumed in economic power dispatch. However, it is more realistic to represent the cost function as a piecewise quadratic function rather than one convex function. This paper presents evolutionary algorithm approaches to solve the problems of economic power dispatch with quadratic cost functions and piecewise quadratic cost functions. To improve GA, EP and ES characteristics. optimization methods combining GA with ES and EP with ES are proposed. The results for the proposed algorithms are compared with those of numerical method and show the better solutions in the ELD problem.

The main problem with existing edge detection techniques is that they have many limitations in detecting edges for complex and diverse images that exist in the real world. This is because only edges of a defined shape are discovered based on an accurate definition of the edge. One of the methods to solve this problem is the cost minimization method. In the cost minimization method, cost elements and cost functions are defined and used. The cost function calculates the cost for the candidate edge model generated according to the candidate edge generation strategy, and if the cost is found to be satisfactory, the candidate edge model becomes the edge for the image. In this study, we proposed an enhanced candidate edge generation strategy to discover edges for more diverse types of images in order to improve the shortcoming of the cost minimization method, which is that it only discovers edges of a defined type. As a result, improved edge detection results were confirmed.

We consider (worst-case) robust optimization versions of the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model with decreasing cost functions. Two variants of the EOQ model are discussed, in which the purchasing costs are decreasing power functions in either the order quantity or demand rate. We develop the corresponding worst-case robust optimization models of the two variants, where the parameters in the purchasing cost function of each model are uncertain but known to lie in an ellipsoid. For the robust EOQ model with the purchasing cost being a decreasing function of the demand rate, we derive the analytical optimal solution. For the robust EOQ model with the purchasing cost being a decreasing function of the order quantity, we prove that it is a convex optimization problem, and thus lends itself to efficient numerical algorithms.

For solving multiresponse problems, a variety of loss function approaches have been proposed assuming that a cost matrix is known and fixed. However a cost matrix is also an important factor in loss function approaches, because the optimal solution is very sensitive to the cost matrix. In this paper. we propose a novel method for adjusting the cost matrix by considering the predictive ability of the estimated response models. Simulation results for the generated data set show that the proposed method is competitive with previously reported methods.

In this study, we estimate the multi-service cost function of Korea Telecom in order to characterize the cost structure of the telecommunication industry in Korea. By examining the cost function of Korea Telecom, we show that telecommunication costs of Korea Telecom are subadditive. Therefore, we conclude that a natural monopoly exists in the telecommunication industry in Korea.

Generally, average invest cost is widely used for expansion planning of generation in power system. But, other cost which is followed by adding generating capacity in electric system is increased in accordance with increasing plant reasons. In this study, we represent the invest cost with quadratic function and analyze its effect on the expansion planning. It is hoped that this method is used in expansion planning of generating system.

A probabilistic production costing model based on the economic load dispatch has been developed. Objective function is composed of fuel cost which is a function of generation output and the failure cost. Coefficients of the failure cost is determined from the known equivalent generation cost. The model is compared with other existing methodolgies and the excellent results are obtained.
