This study analyzes the impacts on the M&A and greenfield of macroeconomic variables of home and host countries, after identifying current status and characteristics of the M&A and greenfield related to the entering way of Korean firms in China. Main empirical results are summarize as follows. First, as for foreign exchange variable, the decreased value of Korea won shows the negative correlations with both of the greenfield and M&A. Second, the real interest rate of Korea to measure the cost of capital is not significant statistically. Third, while the host country's stock market index, Shanghai Comprehensive Index, shows the expected negative correlations with the investment in the case of small & medium firm and light industry, it shows the positive correlations which is not consistent with general expectation in the case of large firm and heavy industry. Fourth, the openness of host country shows the positive correlations with both of the greenfield and M&A. Finally, in regard to the M&A, China's GDP to measure the market size of host country is not significant statistically while it shows the strong positive relationship with the greenfield investment.
How has the passenger car's architecture evolved? In the meantime, the discussions on the car architecture have been mixed, i.e., integral, modular, and the coexistence of two types. Therefore, in this study, we aim to develop two indices can measure the degree of modularization of passenger car and its all modules using global trade data. By applying the indices to the framework of architecture positioning that reflects the hierarchical structure of a product, we examined that the degree of modularization of the passenger car architecture has been enhanced. Meanwhile, the degree of modularization differs across the modules that make up the car. Specifically, we observed the higher degree of modularization in front-end, cockpit and seat modules. Whereas, we found that body module had a relatively low degree of modularization. In particular, we observed that the platform of passenger car has notably modularized due to carmakers' efforts to achieve model diversification and reduction of cost and period in new product development at the same time. Interestingly, we showed that three modules, i.e., engine, chassis (relatively less modularized), and transmission (relatively highly modularized), had a different level of modularization, even if they commonly make up the platform. We contribute to the suggestion for analytical approaches that examine the degree of modularization and its progress longitudinally. In addition, we propose the necessity of decomposition of a system into elements in a study of product architecture, considering the possibly distinctive progress of modularization across the elements.
As the environment using intelligent IoT devices increases, various studies are underway to ensure the integrity of information sent and received from intelligent IoT devices. However, all IoT information generated in heterogeneous environments is not fully provided with reliable protocols and services. In this paper, we propose an intelligent-based multi-blockchain model that can extract only critical information among various information processed by intelligent IoT devices. In the proposed model, blockchain is used to ensure the integrity of IoT information sent and received from IoT devices. The proposed model uses the correlation index of the collected information to trust a large number of IoT information to extract only the information with a high correlation index and bind it with blockchain. This is because the collected information can be extended to the n-tier structure as well as guaranteed reliability. Furthermore, since the proposed model can give weight information to the collection information based on blockchain, similar information can be selected (or bound) according to priority. The proposed model is able to extend the collection information to the n-layer structure while maintaining the data processing cost processed in real time regardless of the number of IoT devices.
This study aimed to determine the optimal fertilization level for the production of Hovenia dulcis Thunb. seedlings. The height, root collar diameter, biomass, seedling quality index, and chlorophyll content of Hovenia dulcis container seedlings (1-0) according to six fertilization treatments (control, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 g·L-1) were investigated. The height, root collar diameter, and biomass of Hovenia dulcis container seedlings increased with increasing fertilization, but there were no significant differences among the ≥1.5 g·L-1 treatments, and the 2.5 g·L-1 fertilization treatment was associated with significantly lower height growth. The seedling-quality index showed a high but non-significant difference in the ≥1.5 g·L-1 treatment range, and the chlorophyll content was highest in the 1.5 g·L-1 treatment group. Considering the environmental and cost aspects of fertilization, the appropriate level of fertilization required for superior container seedling production of Hovenia dulcis was 1.5 g·L-1, and a minimum fertilization treatment of ≥0.5 g·L-1 should be applied to meet the minimum seedling specifications. These results are expected to be used as basic data for establishing an efficient seedling-production system and stable supply of Hovenia dulcis, which is used as a medicinal and honey plant.

Objective: To evaluate radiomics analysis in studies on mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) using a radiomics quality score (RQS) system to establish a roadmap for further improvement in clinical use. Materials and Methods: PubMed MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched using the terms 'cognitive impairment' or 'Alzheimer' or 'dementia' and 'radiomic' or 'texture' or 'radiogenomic' for articles published until March 2020. From 258 articles, 26 relevant original research articles were selected. Two neuroradiologists assessed the quality of the methodology according to the RQS. Adherence rates for the following six key domains were evaluated: image protocol and reproducibility, feature reduction and validation, biologic/clinical utility, performance index, high level of evidence, and open science. Results: The hippocampus was the most frequently analyzed (46.2%) anatomical structure. Of the 26 studies, 16 (61.5%) used an open source database (14 from Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative and 2 from Open Access Series of Imaging Studies). The mean RQS was 3.6 out of 36 (9.9%), and the basic adherence rate was 27.6%. Only one study (3.8%) performed external validation. The adherence rate was relatively high for reporting the imaging protocol (96.2%), multiple segmentation (76.9%), discrimination statistics (69.2%), and open science and data (65.4%) but low for conducting test-retest analysis (7.7%) and biologic correlation (3.8%). None of the studies stated potential clinical utility, conducted a phantom study, performed cut-off analysis or calibration statistics, was a prospective study, or conducted cost-effectiveness analysis, resulting in a low level of evidence. Conclusion: The quality of radiomics reporting in MCI and AD studies is suboptimal. Validation is necessary using external dataset, and improvements need to be made to feature reproducibility, feature selection, clinical utility, model performance index, and pursuits of a higher level of evidence.

Recently urban areas have been advanced in the aspects of convenience, traffic, and cultural environments, but they have faced various problems including environmental issues, traffic congestion, and increasing stress. In contrast, rural areas are in charge of various functions, conservations of natural environments and traditional cultures. Rural life style may be beneficial to urbanites. As urbanites are increasingly interested in leisure activities, such as experiences of tradition cultures and education, safe foods and rural tourism are gaining attention as alternative ways of satisfying their desires. In other words, the rural tourism not only provides urbanites with leisure spaces by playing a role in relations between urban and rural areas, but also acts as a nonfarm income to the rural residents. With the changes of time, the number of current rural experience tourism on a nationwide is increasing and competition among locations is getting intensive. Particularly, despite various rural tourism villages in operation, there is not a standard in the dice for experience cost and accommodation costs. Accordingly, the aim of the study was to estimate urbanites' willingness to pay(WTP) for rural experience tourism and to provide basic data for qualitative growth and revitalization with regard to the tours. The estimated WTP for rural experience tourism was found to be 5,600won for experience, 5,600won for food, 42,000won for accommodation, and 13,000won for purchasing farm products, respectively. This trend could be similarly found (there were slight differences in food cost) on all analyses, such as the research of the current situations of rural tourism villages in Gyeongnam province, the pilot survey and the estimation depending on whether or not urbanites experienced the tours. In other words, the WTP for urban hands-on experience tours estimated by this study is considered highly significant in terms with possibility of its application in the sites. It is concluded that the urbanites' WTP for rural experience tourism obtained by this study will contribute to the setup of standard index of rural tourism, the qualitative development of rural hands-on experiences, and the raise of nonfarm income.
Two kinds of mushrooms, Gumji (金芝; Ganoderma) and Soji, were described in old book of Samguksagi (History of the three kingdoms; B.C 57~A.D 668; written by Bu Sik Kim in 1145) in Korea-dynasty. Many kinds of mushrooms were also described in more than 17 kinds of old books during Chosun-dynasty (1392~1910) in Korea. Nowadays, mushroom cultivation has been increased through out the world last decade years. Production of mushrooms has also been increased 10-20% and many varieties have been cultivated. Similar trends were also observed in Korea. Approximately two hundred commercial strains of 37 species in mushrooms were developed and distributed to cultivators. Somatic hybrid variety of oyster mushroom 'Wonhyeong-neutari' were developed by protoplast fusion, and distributed to grower in 1989. The fruiting body yield index of somatic hybrids of Pleurotus ranged between 27 and 155 compared to parental values of 100 and 138. In addition, more diverse mushroom varieties such as Phellinus baumi, Auricularia spp., Pleurotus ferulae, Hericium erinaceus, Hypsizigus marmoreus, Grifola frondosa, Agrocybe aegerita and Pleurotus cornucopiae have been attempted to cultivate in small scale cultivation. Production of mushrooms as food was 190,111 metric tons valued at 800 billion Korean Won (one trillion won if include mushroom factory products; 1dollar = 1,040 Won) in 2011. Major cultivated species are Pleurotus ostreatus, Pleurotus eryngii, Flammulina velutipes, Lentinula edodes, Agaricus bisporus, and Ganoderma lucidum, which cover 90% of total production. Since mushroom export was initiated from 1960 to 1980, the export and import of mushrooms have been increased in Korea. Technology developed for liquid spawn production and automatic cultivation systems lead to the reduction of the production cost resulting in the increasement of mushroom export. However some species were imported because of high production cost for these mushrooms requiring the effective cultivation methods. Developing of effective post-harvest system will be also directly related to mushroom export. In academic area, RDA scientists have been conducting mushroom genome projects. One of the main results is the whole genome sequencing of Flammulina velutipes for molecular breeding. An electrophoretic karyotype of of F. velutipes was obtained using CHEF with 7 chromosomes, with a total genome size of approximately 26.7 Mb. The mususcript of the genome of F. velutipes was published in PLOS ONE this year. For medicinal mushrooms, we have been conducting the genome research on Cordyceps and its related species for developing functional foods using this mushroom. In 2013, Korea Food and Drug Administraion (KFDA) approved Cordyceps mushroom for its value as an immune booster.
This study explores horizontal equity problems in the Seoul Subway System by using costs per passenger kilometer as a comparison index. In general, subway users in the central area, except Line 1, are subsidizing users in fringe areas. Spatial differentiation of user cross subsidies in the area is due mainly to interactions between factors such as vehicle kilometers traveled, number of passengers, and length of segments. In order to decrease levels of user cross subsidies among the users and so relieve honzontal equity problems associated with subway use, it is necessary to develop a user fare system in which portions of marginal costs of subway use can be distributed properly among users. However, two-stage fare structure of the subway system in the study area is based only on trip distance, and so marginal costs associated with subway use are not properly reflected in user fees. Therefore, horizontal equity of the system in the study area is affected because of inappropriate user fees.
The TPR-tree is the time-parameterized indexing scheme that supports the querying of the current and projected future positions of such moving objects by representing the locations of the objects with their coordinates and velocity vectors. If this index is, however, used in environments that directions and velocities of moving objects, such as vehicles, are very often changed, it increases the communication cost between the server and moving objects because moving objects report their position to the server frequently when the direction and the velocity exceed a threshold value. To preserve the communication cost regularly, there can be used a manner that moving objects report their position to the server periodically. However, the periodical position report also has a problem that lineal time functions of the TPR-tree do not guarantee the accuracy of the object's positions if moving objects change their direction and velocity between position reports. To solve this problem, we propose the query processing scheme and the data structure using road networks for predicting uncertainty positions of moving objects, which is reported to the server periodically. To reduce an uncertainty of the query region, the proposed scheme restricts moving directions of the object to directions of road network's segments. To remove an uncertainty of changing the velocity of objects, it puts a maximum speed of road network segments. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves the accuracy for predicting positions of moving objects than other schemes based on the TPR-tree.

A large amount of RDF data has been generated along with the increase of semantic web services. Various distributed storage and query processing schemes have been studied to efficiently use the massive amounts of RDF data. In this paper, we propose a distributed SPARQL query processing scheme that considers the data locality and query execution path of large RDF data. The proposed scheme considers the data locality and query execution path in order to reduce join and communication costs. In a distributed environment, when processing a SPARQL query, it is divided into several sub-queries according to the conditions of the WHERE clause by considering the data locality. The proposed scheme reduces data communication costs by grouping and processing the sub-queries through the index based on associated nodes. In addition, in order to reduce unnecessary joins and latency when processing the query, it creates an efficient query execution path considering data parsing cost, the amount of each node's data communication, and latency. It is shown through various performance evaluations that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing scheme.
