  • A simple method for the fabrication of porous nano-master for the anti-reflection effect on the transparent substrates is presented. In the conventional fabrication methods for antireflective surface, coating method using materials with low refractive index has usually been used. However, it is required to have a high cost and long processing time for mass production. In this paper, we developed a porous nano-master with anti-reflective surface for the molding stamper of the injection mold, hot embossing and UV imprinting by using the aluminum anodizing process. Through two-step anodizing and etching processes, a porous nano-master with anti-reflective surface was fabricated at the large area. Pattern size Pore diameter and inter-pore distance are about 130nm and 200nm, respectively. In order to replicate anti-reflective structure, hot embossing process was performed by varying the processing parameters such as temperature, pressure and embossing time etc. Finally, antireflective surface can be successfully obtained after etching process to remove selectively silicon layer of AAO master.

  • Although most of existing hydration heat control methods show a certain degree of hydration heat control, generally, there are many problems as mentioned above. Therefore, our laboratory previously developed a hydration heat control method using an exposed heat pipe, which solves most of these problems and simultaneously displays excellent hydration heat control. Unfortunately, even this method had some problems such as the processing, transport, and assembly of heat pipes, and the surface treatment of a cut plane after pouring, and hardening concrete. Therefore, in this study, a hydration heat control method using an embedded pipe has been developed with the expectation that this method solves those problems in hydration heat control using an exposed heat pipe. As a result of the experiment, the peak temperature of ECHP and ICHP specimen about $4.5{\sim}6.5^{\circ}C$ than the OPC specimen and the probability of thermal cracked generated in ECHP and ICHP specimen decreased up to $13{\sim}20%$. Finally, it was confirmed in this study that the hydration heat control method using an embedded heat pipe is significantly more superior and cost effective than the existing method of an exposed one.

  • In recent years, integration of new distributed generation (DG) technology in distribution networks has become one of the major management concerns for professional engineers. This paper presents a dynamic methodology of optimal allocation and sizing of DG units for a given practical distribution network, so that the cost of active power can be minimized. The approach proposed is based on a combined Genetic/Fuzzy Rules. The genetic algorithm generates and optimizes combinations of distributed power generation for integration into the network in order to minimize power losses, and in second step simple fuzzy rules designs based upon practical expertise rules to control the reactive power of a multi dynamic shunt FACTS Compensator (SVC, STATCOM) in order to improve the system loadability. This proposed approach is implemented with the Matlab program and is applied to small case studies, IEEE 25-Bus and IEEE 30-Bus. The results obtained confirm the effectiveness in sizing and integration of an assigned number of DG units.

  • This research estimates the contribution to the Busan regional economy made by Busan Port's container cargo handling from the microscopic point of view. The cost is calculated and shown in the currency unit of Korea, won, per TEU. A questionnaire was conducted to 12 different types of maritime business to obtain total sales and performances of the companies. The total sales of maritime business related to container goods per the whole TEU was computed at 238,230won/TEU. This can be adopted as a new index to analyse the Busan regional economy.

  • Presently, the level of service(LOS) of the domestic roads are evaluated by using average speed of passing by vehicles. However, this method has been designed by considering the degree of congestion on the road only, without considering the reality of traffic safety. Therefore, for the LOS to serve as an index evaluating proper road design and operation, it should be able to deal with wider coverage than known factors which directly affects road users. Therefore the study wants to explore the concept of user cost, as a factor that covers traffic safety and flow, for evaluating roads. Also, the study wants to develop UML based user-centric design, not a one-time development method, for evaluating risk order of roads.

  • For the last 2 decades, the bonding materials for the foundry sand and the foundry equipments with high performance have been developed and employed in the foundry shops. In those periods, the furan resins hardened in higher temperature have been replaced with the self-hardened ones in the room temperature. Simultaneously the various reclamation methods of the self-hardened furan resin sand have been developed in order to get the clean working environments, the reduction of solid wastes and the lower of production cost in the foundry. In this experimental study, the combustion reclamation method using the fluidized bed among the various methods was studied in order to reduce the L.O.I. and /or $N_2$ gas due to the deposition of the furan resins and the hardeners. Comparing the results of this experimental combustion reclamation method with those of the employed pneumatic method, the Surface Stability Index of the specimen made by combustion method is 30% higher than that of the latter one and L.O.I. decreases about 30%. The reclamation temperature of 650$^{\circ}C$ in this experimental fluidized bed would be recommended in the viewpoints of the reclamation period, the fuel consumption and the residual quantity of the furan resin. The formula determining the minimum fluidizing velocities according to the temperatures in the fluidized bed has been obtained.

  • A lot of studies of ship's economy are on the traditional fields such asreducing propulsion resistance, raising cargo handling rates and lessening building consts, but there are few researches on the merchant ship's economy concerning their deadweights and speeds according to shipping companies managerial cercumstances. Contrary to the contemporary trend that "the bigger, the better, if the cargo handling rate could increased sufficiently to hold down port time to that rate of smmaler vessels", this paper demonstrates the existence of certain limits in ship's size and speed according to the coditions of the freight rates, voyage distances, cargo handing rates, prices of fuel oil, interst rates etc. Fom the curves of criteria contour for various ship's deadweights and speeds which are depicted from the gird search method, one can get the costs and the yearly profit rates under the conditiions of large volume with long term contracts for the transportation of bulk cargoes. In estimating ship's transportation economy, the auther takes the position that the profit rate method is properer than the cost method, and introduces the calculation table of the voyage profit rate index. The use of the criteria contours will be of help to ship owners in determining the size and speed of the ship which will be built or purchased and serve in a certain trade route.

  • Necessity has compelled man to improve upon the art of tapping wind energy for power generation; an apt reliever of strain exerted on the non-renewable fossil fuel. The power generation in a Wind Farm (WF) depends on site and wind velocity which varies with time and season which in turn determine wind power modeling. It implies, the development of an accurate wind speed model to predict wind power fluctuations at a particular site is significant. In this paper, Box-Jenkins ARIMA (Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average) time series model for wind speed is developed for a 99MW wind farm in the southern region of India. Because of the uncertainty in wind power developed, the economic viability and reliability of power generation is significant. Life Cycle Costing (LCC) method is used to determine the economic viability of WF generated power. Reliability models of WF are developed with the help of load curve of the utility grid and Capacity Outage Probability Table (COPT). ARIMA wind speed model is used for developing COPT. The values of annual reliability indices and variations of risk index of the WF with system peak load are calculated. Such reliability models of large WF can be used in generation system planning.

  • Key aspects of the Norwegian Method of Tunnelling (NMT) are reviewed. These include a predictive method of support design using the six-parameter Q-system of rock mass characterisation. The rock mass rating or Q-value is updated during tunnel driving. The designed tunnel support generally consists of wet process, steel fibre reinforced shotcrete combined with fully grouted, untensioned rock bolts, Even in poor rock conditions S(fr) + B usually acts as the final rock reinforcement and tunnel lining. Since it is a drained lining, it is very economic compared to cast concrete with membranes. Light, free-standing steel liners are used to prevent water affecting the runnel environment. Rock mass conditions, and hence lining design and cost estimation can be assessed by careful use of seismic surveys. Relationships between the P-wave velocity, the rock mass deformation modulus and the Q-value have recently been established, where tunnel depth, rock porosity and the uniaxial compression strength of the rock are important variables. The rock mass modulus estimate, and simple index testing of the joints, provide the key input which joints are discretely represented (either in two dimensions with the UDEC code or in three dimensions with the 3DEC code) is generally favoured compared to continuum analysis. The latter may give a misleading impression of uniformity and deformations tend to be understimated. Q-system NMT designs of S(fr) + B (fibre reinforced shotcrete and bolting) are numerically checked and adjustments made to bolt capacities and shotcrete thickness if overloading is evident around the modelled profile.
