Purpose - This research aims to investigate the effects that the selection of oriental medicine cosmetics and brand asset attributes have on consumers' economic, emotional and social values in order to shed light on the forms and characteristics of consumption within the globally developing oriental medicine cosmetics market, and in the end positively verify how such perceived values affect purchase intention. In addition, it proposes research outcomes by comparing the differences between national and cultural consumer purchase behavior based on the comparisons of consumer groups in South Korea and China, the major markets for oriental medicine cosmetics. Research design, data, and methodology - Based on advanced research a total of 9 hypotheses were designed and questionnaires consisting of 16 questions to identify six major variables were conducted. Research was carried out centered on Seoul, South Korea, and its surrounding metropolitan area as well as Beijing and Shanghai, China, and a total of 577 sets of significant data were collected. A comparison analysis was then conducted on the data from 285 Koreans and 292 Chinese. A regression analysis and path analysis were also carried out based on a structural equation model to suggest results. Results - Research results show brand value assets had a more crucial impact on consumers' perceived value than consumer selection of oriental medicine cosmetics, while emotional value had a bigger effect on purchase intension than social or economic values. For Chinese consumers in particular, social, economic and emotional values affected purchase intention, while emotional value was the most crucial factor for Korean consumers. Conclusions - With oriental medicine cosmetics, brand characteristics and images that helped express emotional desire proved to be more effective in marketing than the performance aspect of cosmetics, including their functions and ingredients. In the end, products that highlight individual desire and emotion should be introduced instead of those that emphasize price, functions and social characteristics in order to expand the global market of oriental medicine cosmetics.
Chinese economic growth and Chinese adoption of foreign cultures have changed varied phenomena, consumption patterns and consumer life-styles, in particular. In order to understand behavior of Chinese consumers, it is critical to explore their lifestyles and its effects on their purchase behavior. For attaining this goal, our research classifies Chinese consumer lifestyles related to cosmetics, into four types: brand oriented, price sensitive, rational consumption, and impulse buying. The research further analyzes the effects of consumer lifestyles on perceived value, satisfaction, and purchase intention in each case of skin care cosmetics and make-up cosmetics. Significant difference are found in perceived value, satisfaction, and purchase intention of skin care cosmetics exists between brand-oriented type and rational consumption type. This is also the case between rational consumption type and impulse buying type. Purchase intention is only found to be different between rational consumption type and price sensitive type. In case of make-up cosmetics, significant differences in perceived value, satisfaction, and purchase intention in the pairs of brand-oriented type and rational consumption type, rational consumption type and impulse buying type, and rational consumption type and price sensitive type. This implies rational consumption type should be more appropriate target consumers in the Chinese cosmetics market.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors of middle aged male consumers according to objectified body consciousness. The subjects were 329 male adults aged from 40 to 59, and measuring instruments consisted of objectified body consciousness, clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors, and subjects' demographics attributions. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, multiple response analysis, cross tabs analysis, and $x^2$ test using the SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, three factors (body shame, body surveillance, and control belief) emerged on objectified body consciousness. Second, subjects were divided into 2 groups (objectified group and non-objectified group) by objectified body consciousness. Third, these two consumer groups showed many differences regarding clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors. The objectified group showed many more positive clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors than the non-objectified group in terms of purchase motives, selection criteria, information source, purchase place, and purchase cost per month. These results show that objectified body consciousness is a useful variable for understanding adult male clothing and cosmetics purchasing behavior and to segment the male consumer market effectively.

Amidst the rapid growth of the vegan cosmetics market, consumer orientation towards environmental and ethical values has been intensifying. However, research on this subject remains limited. This study delves into the relationship between consumer value perception, environmental motivations, and perceived barriers influencing the purchase intentions of vegan cosmetics. Conducting a PLS-SEM analysis on a sample of 300 women with experience using vegan cosmetics, it was discerned that monetary value, social value, brand value, emotional value, quality value, and environmental knowledge play significant roles in influencing purchase intentions. The moderating effect analysis highlighted image barriers and value barriers as crucial factors. Through Importance-Performance Map Analysis, emotional value emerged as a pivotal element in strategizing to strengthen the purchasing intentions for vegan cosmetics. This research contributes both theoretically and practically to enhancing the competitive edge of the vegan cosmetics market and promoting sustainable consumption behavior.

Five hypotheses were set up to further analyze Chinese women's purchasing behaviors. Subjective norms, conspicuous consumption, perceived behavioral control, brand and Korean wave were used as five variables to analyze hypothesis tests on the impact of purchase behavior. The results of the study showed that Chinese women's subjective norms, conspicuous consumptions, brands, and Korean wave factors had a significant effect on purchasing behavior, while perceived behavioral control factors did not affect purchasing behavior.

The paper investigates the factors that affect the decision of young Chinese consumers to buy high-end cosmetics. The study is based on the responses obtained by questionnaires from 400 respondents in Guangzhou, China. The information was collected and classified on the basis of gender, occupation, age and education in order to understand the main characteristics of the sample in a better way. The purposive, convenient and quota sampling techniques of non-probability sampling method were used. Besides this, the predictive test was carried out with 30 respondents to ensure the reliability and validity of the questionnaires. The data was put to descriptive statistical analysis and multiple regression analysis in order to verify the hypotheses. The data revealed that, while brand awareness does not affect the consumer attitude about the high-end cosmetics, other factors like product involvement, perceived quality, subjective norm, and word-of-mouth have significant effect on consumer's attitude and consumers' intention about high-end cosmetics. The findings of the study show that subjective norm, perceived value, word-of-mouth, and consumer attitude of cosmetic products highly affect consumers purchase intention of high-end cosmetic products. The research paper helps to form concrete and effective marketing strategy based on various aspects of consumer behavior for high-end cosmetics in China.

Economic crisis in Korea since December 1997 had tremendously affected consumer behavior. This study examined consumer perception of the economic crisis and investigated its impacts on consumer ethnocentrism and purchase behaviors of foreign products. Two product categories of clothing and cosmetics were selected fro empirical testing. Data were obtained from a questionnaire survey to female consumers in Korea during September 1998, and 468 responses were analyzed. The consumer perception of the economic crisis(PCEP) scale was developed for the study. Correlation and regression analyses revealed: 1) the positive relationship between PCEP and consumer ethnocentrism(ETHN); 2) the positive effects of attitude toward foreign products(ATTI) on actual purchase of foreign products since the economic crisis(PB) and on purchase intention of foreign products(PI) for both clothing and cosmetics; 3) the negative effect of ETHN on PI for both product categories; and 4) the negative effects of PCEP on PB and PI for clothing.
