The Chinese Belt Road initiatives in the Southeast Asian countries marked a new chapter in the development of China political influence on this region. This article looks at the initiative from the cultural dimension and aims to place its narrative as the entry point to understand the use of identity politics in Asian countries that target the Chinese diaspora. This topic relates to the primordial sentiments of Southeast Asian nations amid massive Chinese investment in the region. The issue of Chinese investments under the Belt Road Initiative corridor has a relationship with the formation of anti-Chinese discourse and anti-communist in some Southeast Asian countries. We took the cases of Indonesian and Malaysian elections to observe the use of identity politics and anti-Chinese political discourse in Southeast Asia. In both cases, a common issue emerged, that of the strengthening both Islamic and indigenous sensibilities. The establishment of ASEAN during the Cold War may be seen then as an anti-thesis to emerging Chinese power. However, anti-Chinese and anti-communism sentiments were not enough to unite the forces of the nations of Southeast Asia. We have concluded that brotherhood, mutual prosperity, and anti-neo-colonialism are yet to be fostered completely to make a distinct ASEAN identity.

Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is considered the future of transportation, offering solutions to urban challenges and reducing environmental issues through the use of electric power and leveraging the sky as a new transportation corridor. UAM has diverse applications, including passenger and goods transportation, emergency rescue operations, patient transfers, and urban tourism. Furthermore, it is poised to revolutionize the transportation landscape, impacting existing infrastructures such as roads and parking lots, along with autonomous vehicles. The UAM industry is anticipated to exert a significant impact on various sectors, including airframe manufacturing, the development of new materials (e.g., fuel cells and batteries), and even the defense industry, resulting in substantial economic benefits. Consequently, conducting proactive research and setting industry standards for UAM takeoff and landing infrastructure is crucial for securing market leadership. In this regard, the case of Pontoise-Cormeiles, France, stands out as it achieved the world's inaugural successful demonstration of a vertiport before the 2024 Olympics. This achievement has significant implications for our preparations for the commercialization of UAMs. Thus, a detailed review of the French vertiport construction case in this study will serve as a foundation for guiding the planning and operation of UAMs in South Korea, particularly in anticipation of upcoming demonstration tests.
Lots of educational and medical facilities were actively built along with foreign missionary activities under Korean Empire era. Paiwha Girls' High School is one of the educational facilities and at that time dormitory house was essential for recruiting girl students. Especially Paiwha's dormitory was traditional hanok style, but now an auditorium has built in its place. This study carried on to restore its hanok dormitory house based on the plan sketch which drawn Paiwha Girls' High School magazine. Through the analysis and investigation, we found some results as follows. Paiwha's Hanok Dormitory had composed of 23 dormitories rooms, management space, sanitary space, dining space, etc. In living rooms division, there are three types of rooms, and it's room was 4~5 pyung(坪) in size and using area per person was 1pyung. Besides all rooms were connected by a corridor. The structure was 5-ryang(樑) type without high column or with one high column. Looking at structure and the shape of the roof on the historic photos, it seems to be a lower roof slope than other traditional house because of reducing its weight. But its span between two columns was wider relatively.

The FEMA P695 document proposed a methodology to evaluate the collapse safety of a structure and the validity of the seismic design coefficients. In this study, the seismic performance of six- and twelve-story staggered wall structures with a middle corridor was evaluated based on the FEMA P695 procedure. The analysis results of the prototype structures were compared with those of the structures with an increased coupling beam depth or an increased re-bar ratio of the coupling beams in order to investigate the effect of retrofit. The adjusted collapse margin ratios (ACMR) of the model structures obtained from incremental dynamic analyses turned out to be larger than the specified limit states of an ACMR of 20%, which implies that the analysis model structures have enough strength against design level earthquakes. It was also observed that the increase in the re-bar ratio of the coupling beams between the staggered walls was more effective in increasing the ACMR than an increase in the depth of the coupling beams.

The purpose of this research is classifying stream into different types depending on various factor from the perspective of stream corridor restoration and using it as basic data, which are used to consider efficient management and planning for the healthy stream according to the characteristic by types. In this study, 130 points of location of the Nakdong river basin which consist of various geographic factors have been chosen and hierarchical cluster analysis has been carried out in these points by using biological and physiochemical factors whose health can be considered to be predicted and evaluated. As a result of cluster analysis, there were three divided types. Type A whose biology and water quality are considered the best was the highest in forest area percentage so that it was classified into natural stream. Type B was classified into a rural region stream with a mixture of urban and agricultural region. Type C, with the most damaged water quality and biology health had the most urban region surface area and was named as urban region stream. Moreover, an overall restoration strategy according to characteristic by stream types was set. By the results of correlation analysis on factors, water quality showed a high correlation with biological properties and was affected by surrounding land usage. In evaluation of streams, it proves the need to consider not only other habitat's geographical and biological factors but also the water quality and land usage factors. There needs to be further research on stream ecosystem functionality factors and structural aspects by using a more objective and total evaluation result in selecting additional index and various other specific classification methods by stream types and its restoration strategies.

The gangway connection of the articulated high speed railway vehicles (HSRV) is a double wrinkled rubber component to seal the air of the corridor under a range of angular deviations between the carriage end parts. From the results of non-linear structural analysis, one of the severe loading conditions for the connection is mixed mode (rolling+yawing) angular displacements while passing through the small-radius curved siding track of the HSRV depot. In this study, to ensure the safety enhancement of the component, the optimal design for the cross section of that was performed using the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) method. Nonlinear finite element analysis confirmed that the decreases in the maximum principal strain of the optimized design under rolling and mixed modes are 68% and 39%, respectively, compared to the initial design.
This study tried to propose the guidelines for the ecological preservation zoning in Korea. So some related laws and regulations were inspected, which were Natural Environment Preservation Act, Nature Park Act, Cultural Asset Conservation Act, Forest Act and Urban Planning Act. In these acts, I could find several concepts related to the ecosystem that are described as the protection area. But there aren't detailed and practical characteristics in those concepts. So for making the practical concept of ecosystem preservation, I considered Multiple Use Module, Wildlife habitat model, and Environmental evaluation model. Thorough this step, the process and methodology was established for evaluating and analysing. The potentiality of the GIS system was inspected. So the TM5 scene of the site was acquired and processed by ER-Mapper, Idrisi, Arc/Info and Arcview. And several digitized data were input by scanning and vecterizing. The Erdas format was mostly exchangeable to any program. The site is the Byonsan Peninsula National Park. The forest stand information and topographic data were digitized, types of which are forest year, DBH, density, slope, aspect etc. And also the watershed boundary, roads and paths, natural and cultural resources were mapped and analysed. Modelling of preservation suitability found the dispersed patterns for the best suitable zone through all the site. And the development potential areas were checked on downwatershed. This patterns are thought to result from the forest location for the wildlife habitat and the low altitude and no-steep slopes for developing. And Early warning system concept was introduced by overlapping these two patterns on the both potential area. As the conclusions, I proposed that the preservation zone be assigned according to the watershed unit as the main ecosystem zone. This main area should be linked by the eco-corridor through the point type eco-system. Finally, I thought the comprehensive information system should be established for making the rational and efficient decision making in natural area.
Since accommodation, public space and service areas where people stay for all day occupy about 70% of a huge cruise ship, they have to be protected from the fire. International Maritime Organization has resolved that a water mist system should be equipped in this cruise ship according to SOLAS II-2 Reg. 10.6 and FSS code Ch. 7. The water mist system consists of mist nozzles, pressure vessels, section valves and pump unit etc. In particular, the water mist nozzles should be recognized by fire tests in accordance with IMO Res. MSC 265(84). In this study, the fire tests for cabin, corridor, public space and storage area have been conducted to develop the water mist nozzles appropriate to the regulation. Totally 5 types of nozzles were developed and have satisfied the whole performance requirements.
In the meantime, the study of traditional and contemporary house had been produced so many achievements in korea, but modern house is yet to be solved, Accordingly, It is necessary to develop and present the basic research data in order to build up an objective study for urban house in the modern age(1910-1945), Following to a study on the foreigner's house in grid-type settlement of Open Ports, in this research is to investigate and analyze modern houses of urban areas in korean inland, and then clarify types and changes of them. In the first year($1995{\sim}96$), the modern houses of Central Inland Districts(arrounding river Kumgang)-Kunsan kanggyong Puyo Kongju Pugang Chongju were investigated by the layout of room, the construction and materials, the design and style, etc. In the second year($1996{\sim}97$), the modern houses of Open Market(開市場)-Seoul Taegu Kwangju Taejon Chonju were conducted to investigate as above. The traditional house transformed by differentiation and addition of room(kan), the various types were respectively adopted for the korean reforming and western cultural house. In the layout of room, the types of plan were gradually concentrated from the single wings of korean traditional house. The korean traditional house was later improved through the introduction of entrance, corridor, and internal toilet/bathroom. But the korean under-floor heating system(andal) and a series of three rooms had been entirely maintained, composed of master bedroom/living room(daechung)/room. And the traditional town house with shop and storage, being built closely to each other and walled up both sides, it had taken gradually the extensive characteristics in itself. By the displacement of shop/dwelling/ storage. the various types were respectively adopted for the separated, multi-storied, and complex type. The type of them was gradually changed to the narrow and linear form. And so with the stockpile of fundamental datas about modern houses in korean urban areas, we expect these results contribute to the knowledge of the spatial characteristics of urban house at present which are required to the understanding of transition as well as types.
This study examines the details and characteristics of prizewinning plans of Cho-Sun housing plan competition promoted by Daily Cho-Sun Company during Japanese colonial period. The main features of Cho-Sun housing plan competition were that the competition held with an application of popular newspaper readers and a judging committee was composed of only Korean architects, especially Park, Gil-Ryong as the president of the board of examiners. Cho-Sun housing plan competition put ideological factors for the improvement of living as like advancing to the cultured(modem) life, respecting for family life, respecting for privacy of family members and so on. First of all, the competition suggested the direction of the improvement of dwelling spaces which focused on making harmonious home life. This study found common characteristics of prizewinning plans of Cho-Sun housing plan competition as the result. First, Cho-Sun housing plan competition introduced a centralized house plan as a model of the improvement of small-sized houses. Second, architectural orders of western or Japanese style mingled with ones of korean traditional style in prizewinning plans as entrance hall, western style reception room(parlour), maid's room, bathroom for example. And a manner of seating using chairs was brought into the style of living which would be assumed in the prizewinning plans. Third, traditional way of composing dwelling spaces was maintained, receiving the characteristics of dwelling spaces of japanese style simultaneously, which central corridor was put at the heart of house for improving arrangement of rooms and flow lines. Fourth, lavatory and bathroom were placed inside of the house.
