How meteorological situations have affected human life for survival have been an important element of living or military strategy throughout history. In modern society, overcrowding of cities has brought about many problems. Moreover, high-rise buildings and land cover have been causing abnormal weather conditions. The wind corridor, especially in urban areas has been flowing differently from the dominant weather condition of the surroundings. Therefore, the wind corridor in urban areas can be a main component in protecting major national facilities in urban areas from damage. Especially the wind corridor is a main factor to derive harm from poisonous substances in air. This paper seeks to find out the wind corridor in urban areas and the efficiency of that. In addition to that, it studies how to use the direction to protect major national facilities and areas from damage. It is considered that this study will be useful to make defence project, not only for preventing CBR(chemical, biological, and radiological) terrorism and violent assembly, but also for evacuation of people in case of big accidents or natural disasters.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to present data of density and speed through the experiment of the counterflow by firefighter in corridor. Method: Experimental setup including a corridor in building was prepared for measuring data with 1.5m and 2m width. Normal flow and counterflow were created for each. Data were measured using camera and acquired by video image analysis. Results: The counterflow in corridor resulted in increasing average density of about $0.55P/m^2$ and decreasing average movement speed of about 0.61 m/s. These data measured during the time when the counterflow occurred. Conclusion: It was found that counterflow by firefighter in corridor momentary increasing the density and decreasing walking speed of evacuee. Further experiments of the counterflow effect in the total evacuation time are needed.
Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is promising, sustainable and efficient air transportation in a metropolitan area. Korean government has recently announced operation demonstration plans as a step toward commercialization of UAM. However, there is lack of understanding on the potential impact of weather on UAM operation. We collected weather observations from Gimpo International Airport and 5 automatic weather stations (AWS) along UAM corridor of the Han-River to assess weather barriers such as low visibility, wind gust and wind shear. The results show the frequency of low visibility near the corridor fluctuated significantly from year to year depending on the concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Seoul. The frequency of high wind speed-shift calculated using 1-minute wind observations was increased not only during the spring season (March, April, and May) but also the beginning of rainy season (Jun). In addition, a chance of high wind shear from 1-minute wind observations varied by the stations, suggesting that the condition is largely affected by topography including a river and high-rise buildings. These basic weather properties suggest that there are substantial weather barriers to UAM operations along the Han-River Corridor, while they cannot properly surveil micro-scale weather conditions in detail such as wind gust and wind shear over the corridor. Thus, this study suggests that potential barriers related to adverse weather need to be evaluated, building high-density weather observations infrastructure prior to UAM demonstration and commercialization.
In this study, the collision risk of the UAM (Urban Air Mobility) corridor was analyzed using a collision risk model applied to the manned aircraft corridor. According to the K-UAM roadmap and operating concept, UAM is expected to fly on a designated route similar to existing manned aircraft operations and operate on two routes, traveling back and forth between the departure point and the destination point. Among domestic manned aircraft routes, the manned aircraft operation between Gimpo Airport and Jeju Airport is similar to this and takes the form of a parallel route with a lateral separation distance between the two routes. In this study, we analyzed the collision risk of the UAM corridor according to the lateral separation distance using a collision risk model used to analyze the collision risk of manned aircraft parallel routes for a similar type of UAM corridor. Based on this, we finally analyzed how many parallel routes could be installed within the width of the Han River, considering the K-UAM demonstration route.

In this study, when establishing a UTM(UAS Traffic Management) system, a corridor must be set to separate the flight distance between unmanned aerial vehicles, and the size of the corridor was calculated in consideration of TSE(Total System Error). The flight data of the straight section and the turning section were collected using a hybrid vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial vehicle. The flight data were derived from the TSE using the SQSM(Scalar Quantity Summation Method) method, and the impact on the straight and turning sections was analyzed by calculating in detail by NSE(Navigation System Error) and FTE(Flight Technical Error). The corridor size was calculated by referring to the TSE analysis results and PBN (Performance-based Navigation) manual.

Purpose: As our population ages and becomes an elderly society the number of elderly care hospitals is rapidly increasing. Because physical functions and spatial perception in the elderly decrease with age, these hospitals require more systematic and intelligent space designs. The design of these spaces are even more complex because they must accommodate medical programs to treat various different diseases and ailments and also because there are many first time patients and irregular short term patients that seek out outpatient treatment services. Also by analyzing the spatial configuration systems and systematic relationships between each of the functional spaces of the outpatient treatment service departments for hospitals specialized in care for the elderly by focusing on the hallway and corridor systems of these hospitals, the according characteristics and trends were examined. Methods: Based on preceding research, the types of hallway and corridor systems of these hospitals were categorized into five types, including gallery corridors, middle corridors, hall-type, mixed type and cyclic type corridors, and into six types according to function including by medical diagnosis, patient registration, examination, administration and convenience and shared common space to derive any interconnecting relationships between the corridor systems. Also by comprehensively examining the types and combined utilization of the corridor types and the integration and the intelligibility of the space syntax, any trends within the corridor system were derived. The elderly care hospitals examined in this research study were twelve hospitals that opened after the year 2000 in Korea with more that 150 sick beds with areas larger than $1000m^2$ and with all outpatient medical service related rooms located entirely on a single floor of the hospital. Results: The following results could be confirmed based on this research study. 1) The spaces where medical diagnosis and examination occurred were adjacent, and the movement lines for first time patients and re-visiting patients were taken into consideration by separating the treatment space. 2) This research study confirmed that the larger the size of the hospital was, there were more detailed categorizations of treatment services and that there was a tendency for treatment areas to be separated and independent from examination areas. 3) There was a tendency for integration and intelligibility to decrease the more complex and diverse the combination of hall types designed into the corridor systems of these hospitals was. cyclic type corridors dramatically decreased the intelligibility of the corridor systems of these hospitals. 4) The priority rank of these spaces were confirmed to be highest in the order of registration, diagnosis, examination, treatment, administration and shared common spaces. However it was confirmed for the local integration that the diagnosis scope had the highest priority rank. Implications: There were exceptional cases confirmed where the number of unit spaces did not have an absolute effect on integration and intelligibility. These results can be interpreted to mean that this can be overcome through efficient architectural planning.
The purpose of this study is to propose a ventilation corridor management plan to improve the thermal environment for Busan Metropolitan City. To this end, the characteristics of hot and cool spots in Busan were identified by conducting spatial statistical analysis, and thermal image data from Landsat-7 satellites and major ventilation corridors were analyzed through WRF meteorological simulation. The results showed the areas requiring thermal environment improvement among hot spot areas were Busanjin-gu, Dongnae-gu, industrial areas in Yeonje-gu and Sasang-gu, and Busan Port piers in large-scale facilities. The main ventilation corridor was identified as Geumjeongsan Mountain-Baekyangsan Mountain-Gudeoksan Mountain Valley. Based on the results, the ventilation corridor management strategy is suggested as follows. Industrial facilities and the Busan Port area are factors that increase the air temperature and worsen the thermal environment of the surrounding area. Therefore, urban and architectural plans are required to reduce the facility's temperature and consider the ventilation corridor. Areas requiring ventilation corridor management were Mandeok-dong and Sajik-dong, and they should be managed to prevent further damage to the forests. Since large-scale, high-rise apartment complexes in areas adjacent to forests interfere with the flow of cold and fresh air generated by forests, the construction of high-rise apartment complexes near Geumjeongsan Mountain with the new redevelopment of Type 3 general residential area should be avoided. It is expected that the results of this study can be used as basic data for urban planning and environmental planning in response to climate change in Busan Metropolitan City.
There are a lot of works for predicting smoke movement in a building experimentally and m numerically. It is Vel${\gamma}$ important to predict a smoke movement in a corridor which is c connected to adjacent spaces. A numerical analysis of smoke movement in an enclosed c corridor is perlormed by a field model. The used field model is develo야d with 3-D u unstructured meshes, PISO Algorithm and buoyant plume model. In this study, tern야~ature a and flow field, some important p하ameters such as smoke spread time, hot layer temperature, c ceiling jet velocity were compared with experimental data which were perlormed in Korea I Ins디tute of Machinery and Materials. And average velocity of ceiling jet by this study is c compared with Hinkley's formula. This paper shows a flow characteristic around the soffit a and average velocity of ceiling jet is i따luenced by geometry of corridor, heat output, and d distance from the fire source.
