  • In this paper, we present a hybrid multi-antenna technique that can minimize the outage probability by combining the diversity and beamforming techniques. The hybrid technique clusters the transmission antennas into multiple groups and exploit diversity among different groups and beamforming within each group. We analyze the performance of the resulting hybrid technique for an arbitrary correlation among the transmission antennas. Through the performance analysis, we derive a closed-form expression of the outage probability for the hybrid technique. This enables to optimize the antenna grouping for the given spatial correlation. We show through numerical results that the hybrid technique can balance the trade-offs between diversity and beamforming according to the spatial correlation and that the optimally designed hybrid technique yields a much lower outage probability than the diversity or beamforming technique does in partially correlated fading channels.

  • The cross-correlation technique has been widely used for leakage detection of buried pipes, and this technique can be successfully applied when the leakage signal has a high signal-to-noise ratio. In the case of a power plant, the measured leakage signals obtained from the sensors may contain background noise and mechanical noise generated by adjacent machinery. In such a case, the conventional method using the cross-correlation function may fail to estimate the leakage point. In order to enhance the leakage estimation capability of a buried pipe in a noisy environment, an improved cross-correlation technique is proposed. It uses a noise rejection technique in the frequency domain to effectively eliminate the tonal noise due to rotating machinery. Experiments were carried out to verify the validity of the proposed method. The results show that even in a tonal noisy environment, the proposed method can provide more reliable means for estimating the time delay of the leakage signals.

  • A new frequency-modulated m-sequence correlation technique was described. It has. been seen that the frequency modulation scheme leads to higher signal-to-noise ratio than direct sequencing and less hardware effort than PSK modulation scheme. The operating frequency of the correlation system was deduced. The optimal frequency for the frequency-modulated m-sequence correlation system should be 1.35 times of the center frequency of the transducer. The application of this correlation technique to electromagnetic ultrasonic system was computer-simulated.

  • Various array processing techniques to identify the noise source position or bearing have been developed. Typical array processing techniques which are based on time delay between received signals at two sensors, are classified as conventional beamforming, correlation function and NAH (Near-Field Acoustic Holography) techniques which have their own characteristics with respect to application field and signal processing method. In this study, correlation function technique which could be applied for broadband noise source detection, is adopted and the effective detection technique is proposed considering the effects of source bandwidth and measurement noise correlation of noise sources. The validity of the Proposed technique is evaluated using the 3-dimensional nonlinear any which does not give 3-dimensional Position or bearing ambiguity

  • This study conducts numerical analyses of a thin-walled composite cylinder under axial compression and internal pressure of 10 kPa. Numerical vibration correlation technique and nonlinear postbuckling analyses are conducted using the nonlinear finite element analysis program, ABAQUS. The single perturbation load approach and measured imperfection data are used to represent the geometric initial imperfection of thin-walled composite cylinder. The buckling knockdown factors are derived using present initial imperfection and analysis methods under axial compression without and with the internal pressure. Furthermore, the buckling knockdown factors are compared with the buckling test and computation time are calculated. In this study, derived buckling knockdown factors in present study have difference within 10% as compared with the buckling test. It is shown that nonlinear postbuckling analysis can derive relatively accurate buckling knockdown factor of present thin-walled cylinders, however, numerical vibration correlation technique derives reasonable buckling knockdown factors compared with buckling test. Therefore, this study shows that numerical vibration correlation technique can also be considered as an effective numerical method with 21~91% reduced computation time than nonlinear postbuckling analysis for the derivation of buckling knockdown factors of present composite cylinders.

  • There are two general techniques to observe particle movements in fluid. One is the acoustic time domain correlation technique and another is the frequency domain Doppler-shift techniques. Both techniques were reviewed and mentioned their some merits and demerits in ocean wave and current observation. Some possible application of acoustic time domain correlation technique in ocean wind wave measurement was discussed.

  • The joint transform correlator (JTC) has been the best known technique for pattern recognition and identification. The JTC optically compares the reference image with the sample image then examines match or non-match by acquiring a correlation peak. However, the JTC technique has some problems such as weak correlation discrimination and noise which originates from the interference fringes in the Fourier transform plane. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes a new technique of modifications of the interference fringes by adopting special iterative filters. Experimental results are presented to show that the proposed technique can successfully improve the correlation peaks and the level of discrimination.

  • Block cipher ARIA was first proposed by some South Korean experts in 2003, and later, it was established as a Korean Standard block cipher algorithm by Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. In this paper, we focus on the security evaluation of ARIA block cipher against the recent zero-correlation linear cryptanalysis. In addition, Partial-sum technique and FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) technique are used to speed up the cryptanalysis, respectively. We first introduce some 4-round linear approximations of ARIA with zero-correlation, and then present some key-recovery attacks on 6/7-round ARIA-128/256 with the Partial-sum technique and FFT technique. The key-recovery attack with Partial-sum technique on 6-round ARIA-128 needs $2^{123.6}$ known plaintexts (KPs), $2^{121}$ encryptions and $2^{90.3}$ bytes memory, and the attack with FFT technique requires $2^{124.1}$ KPs, $2^{121.5}$ encryptions and $2^{90.3}$ bytes memory. Moreover, applying Partial-sum technique, we can attack 7-round ARIA-256 with $2^{124.6}$ KPs, $2^{203.5}$ encryptions and $2^{152}$ bytes memory and 7-round ARIA-256 employing FFT technique, requires $2^{124.7}$ KPs, $2^{209.5}$ encryptions and $2^{152}$ bytes memory. Our results are the first zero-correlation linear cryptanalysis results on ARIA.

  • The correlation technique has been widely used in ctRl data processing. The proposed CLT (clus- tering threshold) technique is a modified CCT (correlation coefficient threshold) technique and has many advantages compared with the conventional CCT technique. The CLT technique is explained by the following two steps. First, once the correlation coefficient map above the proper TH value is obtained using the CCT technique which is discrete and includes splash noise data, then the spurious pixels are rejected and the real neural activity pixels extracted using an nxn matrix box. Second, a clustering operation is performed by the two correction rules. The real neuronal activated pixels can be clustered and the false spurious pixels can be suppressed by the proposed CLT technique. The proposed CLT technique used in the post processing in ctRl has advantages over other existing techniques. It is especially proved to be robust in noisy environment.

  • This paper presents a method for registering images using phase correlation technique in fourier domain, hough transform and multi-resolution wavelet. To register images, source and input images are transformed to wavelet domain. An angular transition can be obtained by applying hough transform technique followed by phase correlation. Then we apply phase correlation technique to find x-axis and y-axis transition. We apply wavelet transform to reduce processing time and also use its coefficients as edge information instead of canny detector. With multi-resolution property of wavelet transform, registration time can be greatly reduced. After we get all transition parameters, we transform the input images according to these parameters. Then, we compose and blend all images into a new large image with details of all source images. From our experiment, we can find the accurate transition both x-y translation and angular transition with less error.
