  • Zhang et al. proposed a improved fast correlation attack on stream ciphers at SAC'08[8]. This attack is based on the fast correlation attack proposed at Crypto'00 and combined with FWT(fast Walsh transform). Given various attack environments, they presented complexities and success probabilities of the proposed attack algorithm. However, we found that our simulation results of the proposed attack algorithm are different from them presented in [8]. In this paper, we correct results of the proposed attack algorithm by analyzing it theoretically. And we propose a threshold of valid bias.

  • In a known plaintext scenario, fast correlation attack is very powerful attack on stream ciphers. Most of fast correlation attacks consider the cryptographic problem as the suitable decoding problem. In this paper, we introduce advanced multi-pass fast correlation attack which is based on the fast correlation attack, which uses parity check equation and Fast Walsh Transform, proposed by Chose et al. and the Multi-pass fast correlation attack proposed by Zhang et al. We guess some bits of initial states of the target LFSR with the same method as previously proposed methods, but we can get one more bits at each passes and we will recover the initial states more efficiently.

  • Lightweight Encryption Algorithm (LEA) that was standardized as a lightweight block cipher was implemented with 8-bit data path, and the vulnerability of LEA encryption processor to correlation power analysis (CPA) attack was analyzed. The CPA used in this paper detects correct round keys by analyzing correlation coefficient between the Hamming distance of the computed data by applying hypothesized keys and the power dissipated in LEA crypto-processor. As a result of CPA attack, correct round keys were detected, which have maximum correlation coefficients of 0.6937, 0.5507, and this experimental result shows that block cipher LEA is vulnerable to power analysis attacks. A masking method based on TRNG was proposed as a countermeasure to CPA attack. By applying masking method that adds random values obtained from TRNG to the intermediate data of encryption, incorrect round keys having maximum correlation coefficients of 0.1293, 0.1190 were analyzed. It means that the proposed masking method is an effective countermeasure to CPA attack.

  • Correlation-enhanced collision attack has been proposed by Moradi et al. for several years. However, in practical operations, this method costs lots of time on trace acquisition, storage and averaging due to its bytewise collision detection. In this paper, we propose a bitwise collision attack based on second-order distance model. In this method, only 9 average traces are enough to finish a collision attack. Furthermore, two candidate models are given in this study to distinguish collisions, and the corresponding practical experiments are also performed. The experimental results indicate that the operation time of our attack is only 8% of that of correlation-enhanced collision attack, when the two success rates are both above 0.9.

  • Biometric-based authentication can provide strong security guarantee about the identity of users. However, security of biometric data is particularly important as the compromise of the data will be permanent. The fuzzy fingerprint vault system is one of the most popular solutions for protecting the fingerprint template stored in the database. Recently, however, this system is very susceptible to a correlation attack that finds the real minutiae using multiple fingerprint vaults enrolled for different applications. To solve this problem, we propose a robust fuzzy fingerprint vault system against the correlation attack. In this paper, we add chaff minutiae based on the relative information of minutiae such as direction, coordinate instead of adding randomly. Also, our proposed approach allow to add multiple chaff minutiae within tolerance box for enhanced security level. Experimental results show that the proposed approach can protect the correlation attack and achieve enhanced verification accuracy.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for an effective public key and private key generation to implement a secure asymmetric watermarking system against the public key attack. The public key and private key generation is based on the linear transformation using a special matrix and the keys are designed to be able to have high correlation value. We also proposed a counter plan of public key attack. This method uses a multiple public key generation and distribution. As the results, the correlation value between the public key and the private key is high in the watermarked image. After the public key attack. this can detect the correlation by using other public key.

  • The fuzzy vault scheme has emerged as a promising solution to user privacy and fingerprint template security problems. Recently, however, the fuzzy vault scheme has been shown to be susceptible to a correlation attack. This paper proposes a novel scheme for one-time templates for fingerprint authentication based on the fuzzy vault scheme. As in one-time passwords, the suggested method changes templates after each completion of authentication, and thus the compromised templates cannot be reused. Furthermore, a huge number of chaff minutiae can be added by expanding the size of the fingerprint image. Therefore, the proposed method can protect a user's fingerprint minutiae against the correlation attack. In our experiments, the proposed approach can improve the security level of a typical approach against brute-force attack by the factor of $10^{34}$.

  • A side channel analysis is a very efficient attack against small devices such as smart cards and wireless sensor nodes. In this paper, we propose an efficient key detection method using a peak selection algorithm in order to find the advanced encryption standard secret key from electromagnetic signals. The proposed method is applied to a correlation electromagnetic analysis (CEMA) attack against a wireless sensor node. Our approach results in increase in the correlation coefficient in comparison with the general CEMA. The experimental results show that the proposed method can efficiently and reliably uncover the entire 128-bit key with a small number of traces, whereas some extant methods can reveal only partial subkeys by using a large number of traces in the same conditions.

  • Typical security solutions such as intrusion detection system are not suitable for detecting advanced persistent attack(APT), because they cannot draw the big picture from trivial events of security solutions. Researches on techniques for detecting multiple stage attacks by analyzing the correlations between security events or alerts are being actively conducted in academic field. However, these studies still use events from existing security system, and there is insufficient research on the structure of the entire security system suitable for advanced persistent attacks. In this paper, we propose an attack path and intention recognition system suitable for multiple stage attacks like advanced persistent attack detection. The proposed system defines the trace format and overall structure of the system that detects APT attacks based on the correlation and behavior analysis, and is designed with a structure of detection system using deep learning and big data technology, etc.

  • Summation generator can be easily made as a simple hardware or software and it's period and linear complexity are very high. So it is appropriate to mobile security system for ubiquitous environment. But it showed us the weakness by Golic's correlation attack and Meier's fast correlation attack. In this paper, we proposed a Nonlinear Summation Generator(NSG), which is improved by using LFSR and NFSR(nonlinear feedback shift register), is different from $E_0$ algorithm which use only LFSR in summation generator. It enhanced nonlinearity and is hard to decipher even though the correlation attack or fast correlation attack. We also analyzed the security aspects and the performances for the proposed algorithm.
