  • This paper gives the Sonic Range Finder(SRF) Array which detects the unknown obstacles on the mobile robot's path. This SRF Array gives mobile robot's circumstance information wider, processes and transfers them to the locomotion module to construct the modify path. In this system, 8 pairs of the 40 KHz ultrasonic sensors constitute the SRF Array, including a pair of reference sensors to correct the errors, 4051 analog multiplexer and demultiplexer swtch the sensor with time and 8031-on chip micro computer controls processes the data and communication the others.

  • In this paper, we implemented the sign board that is able to display the located based information by adding the GPS module to the board that display the DARC information and user`s message. The global positioning information from GPS module gets more correct by DGPS from DARC module. This information help this system select the located based information for broadcasting. From the experiment, we confirmed that this system displayed user`s data, DARC information data and located based information.

  • Globally-Asynchronous Locally-Synchronous (GALS) systems are worthy of notice as an adequate architecture for a large scaled chip design with guaranteeing easy designs and functional confidence. In this paper, we suggest an advanced structure of the interface unit which is indispensable for GALS systems by using stoppable clocks. The proposed interface unit is composed of a sender module and a receiver module. The sender module can carry out data transmission partially without the relation to an internal clock. We have designed it with 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ standard cell library at the gate level and simulated its operation to show performance improvement. Finally, we constructed all example circuit with the interface unit and proved the correct operation of it.

  • Adversarial training improves the robustness of deep neural networks for adversarial examples. However, the previous adversarial training method focuses only on the adversarial loss function, ignoring that even a small perturbation of the input layer causes a significant change in the hidden layer features. Consequently, the accuracy of a defended model is reduced for various untrained situations such as clean samples or other attack techniques. Therefore, an architectural perspective is necessary to improve feature representation power to solve this problem. In this paper, we apply an attention module that generates an attention map of an input image to a general model and performs PGD adversarial training upon the augmented model. In our experiments on the CIFAR-10 dataset, the attention augmented model showed higher accuracy than the general model regardless of the network structure. In particular, the robust accuracy of our approach was consistently higher for various attacks such as PGD, FGSM, and BIM and more powerful adversaries. By visualizing the attention map, we further confirmed that the attention module extracts features of the correct class even for adversarial examples.

  • Need analysis of correct thrust for control performance improvement of HB-LPM (Hybrid type Linear Pulse Motor). It is difficult to analyze HB-LPM's thrust. In this paper, HB-LPM's thrust is expressed to mathematical expression. And it is proved validity of this numerical formula by thrust measurement system. Two phase driver is composed. It is verified validity of numerical formula that measure waveform of electric current and voltage that is supplied in each Phase. In this study, composed two phase drive driver, advantage of this IGBT element 6 by accumulated IPM module 1 Driver composition possible. That is, can economize 1 module. In other words, Driver composition is available by IGBT or metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor element 4. This is economical big gains.

  • The role of protective relay with correct setting value is very important for the reliable operation of power : system. The setting process of a protective relay is difficult and requires hard work of calculations. Therefore, KEPCO as been using PROSET2000, a computer program system, in order to automate the setting process of protective relays in power transmission network since 2000. This system has a database and relay setting modules for each type of realy with coresponding Human and Computer Interaction(HCI). For the setting of a new type of relay, it require a new module, a HCI and a database table corresponding to the new relay. But it's update is not easy in case of new type of relay. This paper discussed the update method introducing a concept of Open Interface. It addressd a method to make a new HCI for new relay in view of object-oriented method using UML(Unified Modeling Language). Using the UML, we updated the PROSET2000. HCI screens for a new relay is generated automatically using the information of the new relay stored in the database. And, the database management module is upgraded to solve problems in manage and maintain the database in view of Open Interface.

  • In the era of information society, IT industry has been developed very much. New technology has made appearance in citizens' lives. IOT (Internet of Things) has grown up the most rapidly in IT industry. Kevin Ashiton, MIT specialist, said, "Loading of FRIS and other sensors shall build Internet of things." Internet of things is said to let things have sensor and communication module and to exchange information and communicate each other. In this study, Internet of things has been applied to flowerpot to build automatic flowerpot control system that turns fan ON and supplies water depending upon temperature and moisture. Users are difficult to cognize temperature and humidity of flower pot correctly. In this study, an experiment obtained correct value of temperature and humidity to build control system. At the performance test of flower pot, commands turned ON depending upon temperature and humidity. Control system should be added to control water supply quantity and time objectively according to servo motor control. Purpose of further study was to control flower pot by remote system in connection with smart phone application. An application control can make not only temperature and humidity statistics but also server depending upon users' needs to turn fan ON and take actions and to control flower pot.

Unbounded Binary Search Method for Fast-tracking Maximum Power Point of Photovoltaic Modules

  • A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system with fast-tracked time and high power efficiency is presented in this paper. The proposed MPPT system uses an unbounded binary search (UBS) algorithm that continuously tracks the maximum power point (MPP) with a binary system to follow the MPP under rapid-weather-change conditions. The proposed algorithm can decide the correct direction of the MPPT system while comparing the previous power point with the present power point. And then, by fixing the MPP until finding the next MPP, there is no oscillation of voltage MPP, which maximizes the overall power efficiency of the photovoltaic module. With these advantages, this proposed UBS is able to detect the MPP more effectively. This MPPT system is based on a boost converter with a micro-control unit to control analog-to-digital converters and pulse width modulation. Analysis of this work and experimental results show that the proposed UBS MPPT provides fast, accurate tracking with no oscillation in situations where weather rapidly changes and shadow is caused by all sorts of things. The tracking time is reduced by 87.3% and 66.1% under dynamic-state and steady-state operation, respectively, as compared with the conventional 7-bit perturb and observe technique.

Accurate Characterization of T/R Modules with Consideration of Amplitude/Phase Cross Effect in AESA Antenna Unit

  • In this paper, an accurate characterization of a fabricated X-band transmit/receive module is described with the process of generating control data to correct amplitude and phase deviations in an active electronically scanned array antenna unit. In the characterization, quantization errors (from both a digitally controlled attenuator and a phase shifter) are considered using not theoretical values (due to discrete sets of amplitude and phase states) but measured values (of which implementation errors are a part). By using the presented procedure for the characterization, each initial control bit of both the attenuator and the phase shifter is closest to the required value for each array element position. In addition, each compensated control bit for the parasitic cross effect between amplitude and phase control is decided using the same procedure. Reduction of the peak sidelobe level of an array antenna is presented as an example to validate the proposed procedure.

  • This paper is about a bar code decoding algorithm developed for smart phone applications. The algorithm consists of bar code data extraction procedure, bar code signal estimation procedure, and bar code decoding procedure. To detect the peak bar code module, a DSTW had been applied because of its outstanding performance in ECG peak detection. In order to minimize errors due to non-uniform light effect, the proposed algorithm was acted as a baseline wandering filter based on module peaks detection. The algorithm had been tested to evaluate the performance under the conditions of blurring, non-uniformed light and white noises. The algorithm had shown excellent performance in reconstruction of bar code decoding, compared to other conventional methods. In order to show the possibility of applying the algorithm to a smart phone, a real UPC-A type 150 bar code pictures obtained from a smart phone camera was applied to the algorithm, achieving the correct recognition rate of 97.33%.
