  • Core technologies for integrating hydrogen gas sensor were investigated. In this study, the thermally isolated micro-hot-plate with areas of $100{\times}100-260{\times}260{\mu}m^2$ was fabricated by utilizing surface micromachining technique that provides better manufacturing yield than bulk micromachining counterpart. The optimum design of the sensor was peformed by analyzing the thermal profile of the structure obtained from a ANSYS simulator. The 400-nm-thick polysilicon films doped with phosphorus, the 300-nm-thick aluminum films, and the 200-nm-thick $SnO_2$(or ZnO)films were used as the micro-heater material, the temperature sensor material, and the gas sensitive material, respectively. The experimental results show that the developed gas sensors can detect $H_2$ concentration as low as 1 ppm.

  • A highly compact and thermally efficient water cooled oil cooler for automotive use without offset strip fin and casing is developed in this study. The study result has shown that eliminating the fin and casing in the oil cooler the manufacturing process and cost and can be simplified and reduced greatly without sacrificing the thermal capacity. The oil cooler developed in the study uses the dimply type heat transfer core element design instead of offset strip fin and eliminates the outer casing for coolant water flow by applying specially made parallel loop flow design. In the study the thermal design program for the present oil cooler also was developed and validated experimentally.

  • Higher productivity requires high-speed motion of machine tool axes. The iron core linear DC motor (LDM) is widely accepted as a viable candidate for high-speed machine tool feed unit. LDM, however, has two inherent disturbance force components, namely cogging and thrust force ripple. These disturbance forces directly affect the tracking accuracy of the feeding system and must be eliminated or reduced. In order to reduce motor ripple, this research adapted the feedforward compensation method and neural network control. Experiments carried out with the linear motor test setup show that these control methods are effective in reducing motor ripple.

  • Due to various advantages over the conventional linear motion device such as ball-screw, linear motors have been used in wide variety of industrial applications for years. Driven by increased demand for precision machine tools, the importance of high positioning accuracy, high stiffness and high thrust are greatly increasing. The merits of linear motor are high speed, high acceleration and good positioning accurcy. In addition, Linear motor for high quality machine tool call for high thrust, high stiffness. In this paper, thrust ripple, detent force and thermal behavior are considered for the development of high performance linear motor whose thrust is up to 10,000N. This paper presents a comprehensive study for an iron core type linear motor characteristics that include the influence of PM position on thrust, thrust ripple by detent force and motor dynamics as well.

  • In this study, We fabricated thin film magnetic core inductors by using thin film manufacturing techniques such as photolithography and wet etching process. The inductors were prepared using multi-layered CoNbZr/Cu/CoNbZr. These devices are measured at high frequency range of $1\;MHz{\sim}1\;GHz$.

또한 글로벌 바이오의약품을 중심으로 CMO(Contract Manufacturing Organization) 생산에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다.

  • Powder Injection Molding(PIM) has recently been recognized as an advanced manufacturing technology for low-cost mass production of metal or ceramic parts of complicated geometry With this regards, design technology of dental scaler tip PIM mold, which has complex shape and small core pin (diameter=0.6mm), with the help of computer-aided analysis of powder injection molding process was developed. Computer-aided analysis for dental scaler tip mold was implemented by finite element method with non-Newtonian fluid, modified Cross model viscosity, PvT data of powder/binder mixture. Compter-aided analysis results, such as filling pattern, weldline formation, air vent position prediction were compared with experimental result, and eventually have been shown good agreement. The core pin (diameter=0.6mm) deflection analysis of dental scaler tip PIM mold during PIM filling process was also investigated before mold fabrication.

  • Stainless steel fibers with a diameter of $17\;{\mu}m$ and 630 nm were produced from stainless steel wires by the drawing/annealing/exfolitation process. The suitable sheath material to draw the core stainless steel wires to fibers was the Cu coating. The low melting metal of Zn was not a suitable sheath coating. Also, an attempt was made to produce $20\;{\mu}m{\Phi}Ti$ fibers from the core titanium wires. The main obstacles in producing Ti fibers were their resistance to deformation owing to the Ti's hop structure, and high reactivity of Ti with the exfolitation solution.

  • Vendors and consultants struggle to draw attention to their proven experience in discrete CIM in order to convince process manufacturers to adopt CIM technology. The analogy works very well at the periphery where an invoice is an invoice, but disintegrates at the core where modeling of the manufacturing "process" is required. Until recently, it has not been possible to completely and rigorously model entire process plants in real-time, and this missing core element has been called the "CIM GAP" With the recent introduction of the concurrent resolution $^{sm}$ kernel, the CIM GAP now is being closed in the process industries.ntroduction of the concurrent resolution $^{sm}$ kernel, the CIM GAP now is being closed in the process industries.
