Development of Clinical Scenarios and Rubrics for a Program Outcome-based Evaluation for Students' Adult Health Nursing Practice (학습성과 기반 성인간호 임상실습 운영을 위한 임상시나리오 및 루브릭 개발)

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to develop frequently-used clinical scenarios and scoring rubrics to assess core basic nursing skills in adult health nursing clinical practice for clinical evaluation based on program learning outcomes (PO). Methods: This study was a methodological research combining focus group interviews and questionnaires to select and construct scenarios. Data were collected from clinical practitioners, adult health nursing professors, and new nurses from November, 2013 to April, 2014. The developed scenarios and rubrics were applied to nursing students by way of showing an example. Results: The 12 frequently-used clinical scenarios were developed. The proportion of the evaluation rubrics were 30% for clinical instructors where as 70% for college instructors. In order for students to achieve the important learning outcomes from the courses for clinical practice, four program outcomes (POs) were selected as well as a rubric for each POs was developed. Students who had situation-based clinical practices showed higher levels of satisfaction on mastery of core basic nursing skills and communication skills. Conclusion: This findings of the study suggested the strategies for complementing pitfalls in clinical setting and achieving PO during students' clinical practicum.

  • This paper presents a real-time implementation of a speaker independent speech recognition system based on a discrete hidden markov model(DHMM). This system is developed for a car navigation system to design on-chip VLSI system of speech recognition which is used by fixed point Oak DSP core of DSP GROUP LTD. We analyze recognition procedure with C language to implement fixed point real-time algorithms. Based on the analyses, we improve the algorithms which are possible to operate in real-time, and can verify the recognition result at the same time as speech ends, by processing all recognition routines within a frame. A car noise is the colored noise concentrated heavily on the low frequency segment under 400 Hz. For the noise robust processing, the high pass filtering and the liftering on the distance measure of feature vectors are applied to the recognition system. Recognition experiments on the twelve isolated command words were performed. The recognition rates of the baseline recognizer were 98.68% in a stopping situation and 80.7% in a running situation. Using the noise processing methods, the recognition rates were enhanced to 89.04% in a running situation.

Effect of zirconia ceramic sintering condition on the precision of fit in dental restorations (지르코니아 세라믹 소결조건이 치과보철물의 적합도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of the sintering conditions of zirconia core on the adaptability. Methods: Ten specimens of each of commercial brand of zirconia(Razor 1100, U&C international, Seoul, Korea) were made and sintered under three different conditions. Specimens were divided into three subgroup(n=10) and sintered with various total time(1hr, 3hr, 9hr) at the maximum temperature(1500℃). The digitized data was superimposed with 3D inspection software to quantitatively obtain the adaptation of a zirconia core, and visual differences were confirmed with a color map. The root mean square(RMS) values of group were statistically analyzed with one-way ANOVA(α=0.05). Results: The overall adaptation of the zirconia cores were as follows; ss-1hr: 36.18±5.2㎛, ss-3hr: 39.55±3.9㎛, cs-9hr: 46.62±4.3㎛. They were statistically significant differences between groups for adaptation(p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it could be considered that sintering condition of 1500℃ and 1~3 hour is recommended for the better marginal and internal fit. Speed sintering can be widely utilized to fabricate zirconia prothesis as the properties of those almost are to dentistry uses.

Seismic design of connections between steel outrigger beams and reinforced concrete walls

  • Cyclic response of "shear" connections between steel outrigger beams and reinforced concrete core walls is presented in this paper. The connections investigated in this paper consisted of a shear tab welded onto a plate that was connected to the core walls through multiple headed studs. The experimental data from six specimens point to a capacity larger than the design value. However, the mode of failure was through pullout of the embedded plate, or fracture of the weld between the studs and plate. Such brittle modes of failure need to be avoided through proper design. A capacity design method based on dissipating the input energy through yielding and fracture of the shear tab was developed. This approach requires a good understanding of the expected capacity of headed studs under combined gravity shear and cyclic axial load (tension and compression). A model was developed and verified against test results from six specimens. A specimen designed based on the proposed design methodology performed very well, and the connection did not fail until shear tab fractured after extensive yielding. The proposed design method is recommended for design of outrigger beam-wall connections.

  • Recently, processing burden of CPU is growing because of graphical user interface according to enhance the performance of mobile devices and various graphical effects and creation of contents with 3D graphical effect or Flash animation. Therefore, the GPU are introduced to mobile device for support to variety contents. In this paper, OpenVG accelerator was implemented based on multi-core GP-GPU. OpenVG accelerator is verified using the sample image provided by Khronos group, and overall function is processed by only instruction set without dedicate hardware. The performance of processing the Tiger Image was 2 frames/sec.

  • KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) has developed the GAMMA+ code for a thermo-fluid and safety analysis of a VHTR (Very High Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor). A key safety issue of the VHTR design is to demonstrate its inherent safety features for an automatic reactor power trip and power stabilization during an anticipated transient without scram (ATWS) accident such as a loss of forced cooling by a trip of the helium circulator (LOFC) or a reactivity insertion by a control rod withdrawal (CRW). This paper intends to show the ATWS assessment capability of the GAMMA+ code which can simulate the reactor power response by solving the point-kinetic equations with six-group delayed neutrons, by considering the reactivity changes due to the effects of a core temperature variation, xenon transients, and reactivity insertions. The present benchmark calculations are performed by using the safety demonstration experiments of the 10 MW high temperature gas cooled-test module (HTR-10) in China. The calculation results of the power response transients and the solid core temperature behavior are compared with the experimental data of a LOFC ATWS test and two CRW ATWS tests by using a 1mk-control rod and a 5mk-control rod, respectively. The GAMMA+ code predicts the power response transients very well for the LOFC and CRW ATWS tests in HTR-10.

Qualitative Research for Investigating the Attributes and Internal Structure of Fashion Brand Authenticity (패션 브랜드 진정성의 속성과 내부 구조 확인을 위한 질적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the attributes and internal structure of fashion brand authenticity, a new concept of brand association. For qualitative research, a total of 22 samples of consumers and professional groups were selected to implement in-depth interviews and focus group interviews. The results of this study were as follows: 1) the authenticity of fashion brand included various sub-dimensions. Attributes that constituted the authenticity of fashion brand, consisted of these following 8 dimensions: heritage, authority, relationship to place, consistency, non-popularity, trend-leading, originality and sustainability. 2) sub-dimensions of the fashion brand authenticity were once again categorized into core attributes and promoted attributes. Dimensions such as heritage, authority, relationship to place, consistency and non-popularity dimensions were inherent attributes of the brand, formed at a comparatively long time. Subsequently, these were categorized as core attributes of the authenticity of fashion brand. The trend-leading, originality and sustainability can form in a relatively short period of time by accepting the change, so it was categorized as promoted attributes which were created at the front stage with the consumers.

Vibration response of FG-CNT-reinforced plates covered by magnetic layer utilizing numerical solution

  • Vibration response in a sandwich plate with a nanocompiste core covered by magnetic layer is presented. The core is armed by functionalyy graded-carbon nanotubes (FG-CNTs) where the Mori-Tanaka law is utilized assuming agglomeration effects. The structure plate is located on elastic medium simulated by Pasternak model. The governing equations are derived based on Mindlin theory and Hamilton's principle. Utilizing diffrential quadrature method (DQM), the frequency of the structure is calculated and the effects of magnetic layer, volume percent and agglomeration of CNTs, elastic medium and geometrical parameters of structure are shown on the frequency of system. Results indicate that with considering magnetic layer, the frequency of structure is increased.

Development of a Clinical Ladder System for Operating Room Nurses (수술실 간호사의 경력개발시스템 개발)

  • Purpose: This study was a methodological research conducted to develop a clinical ladder system for operating nurses. Methods: Participants were 20 OR nurses, working in C Hospital, who had a mean tenure of 6 years and 10 months. Data collection consisted of 4 focus group interviews during May and June 2009. The content analysis method of Kim and Lee (1986) was used to analyze the data. Two clinical expert groups consisting of 16 nurses verified the content validity of the preliminary system from September 16 to 26, 2009 using Kim's tool (1999). Results: The final clinical ladder system consisted of goals, core values, and 4 domains of practice related to core values, which were defined as professional value, perioperative nursing practice, education/research, and collaboration/leadership. Eleven nursing competencies and 44 behavior indicators were included in accordance with the 4-step ladder. The 4 operation systems for the clinical ladder system were the promotion system, continuous learning system, reward system, and support system. Conclusion: The results indicate that nursing managers need to pay more attention to developing a clinical ladder system for nurses.

SAFETY STUDIES ON HYDROGEN PRODUCTION SYSTEM WITH A HIGH TEMPERATURE GAS-COOLED REACTOR

  • A primary-pipe rupture accident is one of the design-basis accidents of a High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR). When the primary-pipe rupture accident occurs, air is expected to enter the reactor core from the breach and oxidize in-core graphite structures. This paper describes an experiment and analysis of the air ingress phenomena and the method fur the prevention of air ingress into the reactor during the primary-pipe rupture accident. The numerical results are in good agreement with the experimental ones regarding the density of the gas mixture, the concentration of each gas species produced by the graphite oxidation reaction and the onset time of the natural circulation of air. A hydrogen production system connected to the High-Temperature Engineering Test Reactor (HTTR) Is being designed to be able to produce hydrogen by themo-chemical iodine-Sulfur process, using a nuclear heat of 10 MW supplied by the HTTR. The HTTR hydrogen production system is first connected to a nuclear reactor in the world; hence a permeation test of hydrogen isotopes through heat exchanger is carried out to obtain detailed data for safety review and development of analytical codes. This paper also describes an overview of the hydrogen permeation test and permeability of hydrogen and deuterium of Hastelloy XR.
