Ac magnetic field was changed in the vicinity of a flaw because of the distribution of eddy current within a conductor, when the magnetic field was applied to a conductor having a flaw. The flaw detection was performed by using Co-based amorphous wire sensor head. The wire has almost 0 magneto-striction and high permeability. An comparative uniform magnetic field was applied to a 1㎜ thick copper plate and a 25㎛ thick aluminum sheet conductor using spiral typed coil. The size of the coil has 40㎜$\times$40㎜ outer width and 8㎜$\times$8㎜ inner width. The copper plate and the aluminum sheet has 0.5㎜ and 0.1㎜ wide gap, respectively. The frequency range of applied field was 100㎑∼600㎑. The induced voltage difference of 2.5㎷ was obtained in the maximum voltage and minimum one measured across the gap of the 1mm thick conductor. In the case of aluminum sheet, 0.4㎷ was obtained. From this results, the effectiveness of Co-based amorphous wire was confirmed in the ECT technique.

In this paper, we proposed the planar textile resonator for constructing wearable MR-WPT system and analyzed the characteristic of textile substrates used in resonators. The planar textile resonators were designed to resonate at 1-10 MHz. The loop and coil were fabricated planar structure on textile substrate using conductive materials. Polyester fiber and cotton widely used in real life were chosen as textile resonators for wearable applications and copper tape and silver paste were used for fabricating planar loop and coil on textile substrate. For comparison analysis on transfer efficiency according to the types of textile, transmitter and receiver parts were symmetric. According to the result, for the highest transfer efficiency of wearable WPT system, the planar resonators have specifications of relative thick textile substrate with low permittivity and low surface resistance of conductive pattern. The performed experiments show that the planar textile resonator is possible to be used for resonator in wearable MR-WPT system.

The yttrium-barium-copper-oxide (YBCO) coated conductor, which supplement the fault of the existing superconducting current-limit materials YBCO thin film, bismuth-strontium-calcium-copper-oxide(BSCCO) wire and bulk, has been improved its mechanical weakness and has high index; hence, after quench YBCO coated conductor could limit the fault current effectively because of fast resistance occurrence speed. Furthermore, it has wide applicable area as an current limit material because it shows different resistance occurrence tendency by the thickness and kind of stabilization material sputtered on the superconducting layer. Therefore, many researchers are carrying out the study of application of YBCO coated conductor to superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) for making high quality current limit element, based on resistance type. On the other hand, the study for other type except resistance type has been rarely conducted for the application of YBCO coated conductor to SFCL as an current limit element. Consequently, in this study, YBCO coated conductor with different stabilization layer Cu and Stainless steel, is applied to SFCL using iron core and coil, and examine the many index points as an current limit element, such as current limit characteristic, the tendency of resistance occurrence, response time, the temperature trend for stability.
There have been a number of major fatal fire accidents in Korea recently. The number of fires in 2017 were 44,178, which is not only increasing number of fires but also increasing in casualties. Particularly, the fire at Jecheon Sports Center, which suffered many casualties, is expected to have a huge impact. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but heat waves on the ceiling have also been pointed out. As such, the copper heating waves, which are used as a preventive measure against damage of pipes due to freezing of pipes, etc., always have a fire hazard. To determine the possibility of a flame-resistant heated fire, a positive electric cable product was used to artificially ignite and analyze the results. In case of a short circuit, the external covering of the positive electric cable is damaged, but not short circuit unless the heating material surrounding the wire is damaged. Due to the characteristics of heating cable for preventing copper waves, the chances of insulation becoming more severe due to moisture and temperature changes are higher than normal wires. If the internal heating system is carbonized by insulating deterioration without damage to the outer coating, it is likely to cause trekking, to form a winding loop in the heating materials, and to cause short circuit in the heated materials. For the positive temperature line, if the middle is shorted, the current continues to flow to the short circuit unless the breaker disconnects. Consequently, a heated fire that does not cut off the power immediately may leave multiple marks or cuts.

An electromagnetic micro x-y stage for probe-based data storage (PDS) has been fabricated. The x-y stage consists of a silicon body inside which planar copper coils are embedded, a glass substrate bonded to the silicon body, and eight permanent magnets. The dimensions of flexures and copper coils were determined to yield $100{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ in x and y directions under 50 mA of supplied current and to have 440 Hz of natural frequency. For the application to PDS devices, electromagnetic stage should have flat top surface for the prevention of its interference with multi-probe array, and have coils with low resistance for low power consumption. In order to satisfy these design criteria, conducting planar copper coils have been electroplated within silicon trenches which have high aspect ratio ($5{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$in width and $30{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$in depth). Silicon flexures with a height of $250{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ were fabricated by using inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching (ICP-RIE). The characteristics of a fabricated electromagnetic stage were measured by using laser doppler vibrometer (LDV) and dynamic signal analyzer (DSA). The DC gain was $0.16{\;}\mu\textrm{m}/mA$ and the maximum displacement was $42{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ at a current of 180 mA. The measured natural frequency of the lowest mode was 325 Hz. Compared with the designed values, the lower natural frequency and DC gain of the fabricated device are due to the reverse-tapered ICP-RIE process and the incomplete assembly of the upper-sided permanent magnets for LDV measurements.
The technology of supplying the electric power by wireless power transfer (WPT) is expected for the next generation power feeding system since it can supply the power to portable devices without any connectors through large air gap. As such a technology based on strongly coupled electromagnetic resonators is possible to deliver the large power and recharge them seamlessly; it has been considered as a noble option to wireless power charging system in the various power applications. Recently, various HTS wires have now been manufactured for demonstrations of transmission cables, motors, MAGLEV, and other electrical power components. However, since the HTS magnets have a lower index n value intrinsically, they are required to be charged from external power system through leads or internal power system. The portable area is limited as well as the cryogen system is bulkier. Thus, we proposed a novel design of wireless power charging system for superconducting HTS magnet (WPC4SM) based on resonance coupling method. As the novel system makes possible a wireless power charging using copper resonance coupled coils, it enables to portable charging conveniently in the superconducting applications. This paper presented the conceptual design and operating characteristics of WPC4SM using different shapes' copper resonance coil. The proposed system consists of four components; RF generator of 370 kHz, copper resonance coupling coils, impedance matching (IM) subsystem and HTS magnet including rectifier system.

This paper presents an electromagnetic microactuator using the copper coil electroplated on the p+silicon diaphragm. The microactuator generates a vertical motion of the diaphragm using the radial direction, we propose a new actuator structure with twin magnets. The microactuator field in the radial direction, we propose a new actuator structure with twin magnets. The microactator shows a values of resonant frequency and quality factor in the ranges of 10.51${\pm}$0.22kHz and 46.6${\pm}$3.3, respectively. The twin magnet microactuator generates the maximum peak-to-peak amplitude of 4.4$\mu\textrm{m}$ for the AC rms current of 26.8mA, showing 2.4 times larger amplitude than the single magnet microactuator.

In this study, microscale, high-performance, solenoid-type RF chip inductors were investigated. The size of the RF chip inductors fabricated in this work was 1.0${\times}$0.5${\times}$0.5㎣. 96% $Al_2$$O_3$and I-type were used as the material and shape of the core, respectively. The copper (Cu) wire with 6 turns was employed as the coils. The diameter (40${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) and position (middle) of the coil and the length (0.35mm) of solenoid were determined by a high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) to maximize the performance of the inductors. High frequency characteristics of the inductance (L) and quality-factor (Q) of developed inductors were measured using an RF Impedance/Material Analyzer (HP4291B with HP16193A test fixture). The inductors developed have inductances of 10.8nH and quality factors of 25.2 to 50 over the frequency ranges of 250MHz to l GHz, and show results comparable to those measured for the inductors prepared by CoilCraf $t^{Tm}$ . The simulated data predicted the high-frequency data of the L and Q of the inductors developed well.l.
The butt joint was verified to satisfy the thermal stability of the ITER magnet system through the ITER CS model coil test. Since the contact area in the butt joint is limited to the cross section of the cable, it is necessary to analyze and control the joining parameters precisely for improving the DC resistance. It is difficult to simulate the cables, which are composed of a lot of strands, as three-dimensional models using the commercial code. The random numbers were used to simulate many kinds of contact patterns of the strands on the bonding surface for calculating the bonding area and the DC resistance of the butt joint. The calculated DC resistance decreases with an increase of cable filling factor in terminal. The calculated DC resistance of a 0.9 cable filling factor is about 0.48 n-Ohm, which is about one-tenth of that in the CS model coil test when not considering the electrical contact resistance. From this difference, the electrical contact resistance between the strands and copper sheet was calculated.
Because of environmental regulations in emissions control area, the demand for ships to use LNG as fuel is increasing. Orders for domestic shipbuilders to produce LNG carriers are steadily increasing. However, major appliances such as spray pump, main cargo pump and others have been relied on imports. Therefore, development of pump motor using at cryogenic temperature is necessary. Operating temperature of an induction motor is at $-163^{\circ}C$. At this low temperature, the resistivity of a motor coil is quite different from normal ones, and so does the torque characteristics of motor. This paper presents a designing method of a cryogenic induction motor for LNG pump. The variation of resistivity of motor coil is considered in the design process. The heat source such as core-loss, hysteresis-loss and copper-loss are analyzed to prevent the LNG evaporation which may cause the motor failure.
