Effect of Copper ion on Xanthine Oxidase Activity and Type Conversion (Xanthine oxidase 활성 및 형전환에 미치는 구리이온의 영향)

  • Copper intoxication and disturbance of copper metabolism induced various oxygen-derived free radicals related damages. The effect of copper ion on xanthine oxidase activity and type conversion of the enzyme which is concerned to generation of reactive oxygen species, was investigated, It was observed that xanthine oxidase activity was increased by addition of copper ion in the reaction mixture in proportional to the concentration of the metal ion until $60\;{\mu}M$, while the enzyme activity was inhibited in higher concentration of copper treatment. On the other hand, xanthine dehydrogenase activity was inhibited by copper ion addition with concentration dependently. Preincubation of enzyme source with $30\;{\mu}M$ of copper ion, which concentration marked increased the xanthine oxidase activity, unchanged the enzyme activity and type conversion compare to control in vitro system. It was also observed that copper induced xanthine oxidase activity and the enzyme type conversion was protected by dithiothreitol and penicillamine. These results indicate that the increment of the type conversion of xanthine oxidase necessarilly need the presence of copper ion in enzyme assay system.

  • It is difficult to adapt modern control theory to power conversion system for the price of real time control H/W and the difficulty of S/W implementation. But recent development of large integrated circuit make it possible that One-Chip microprocessor processes high speed arithmatic calculation used in control theory. Specially this chip is called Digital Signal Processing chip. So, this research developes high performance, high reliable digital control system using TMS320C30 of Texas Instrument for real time control in power conversion system.

  • Power conversion system for a magnetically levitated vehicle consists of propulsion inverter to drive linear motor, levitation chopper to drive magnet and power source unit. This paper presents the characteristics of power conversion system in prototype Maglev system. In order to improve performance of electrical equipment IGBT is adopted in a main circuit. Audible noise is reduced to below 60 dB and size is also reduced to 1/3. This system is verified through experiment.

  • In this paper, as a compatible software radio transmission system, Digital-Radio conversion system which can directly change the digital signal generated by the logic circuit into radio signal is proposed. By the vector synthesis method, the digital signals can change directly into radio signal. If such a circuit is realized, RF circuit and an antenna can be composed by the simple one device, and the radio is directly controlled and performed by the software processing which is the essence of software radio. This Digital-Radio conversion system of this paper give many number of communication channels being offered by PN code and offer a hardware design flexibility by digitization, therefore it decrease the percentage ratio of hardware of system and give a more flexible function of software basis. In this paper, this proposed Digital-Radio conversion system is called D/R converter, and the principle of this D/R converter, radio signal generation algorithm is explained and the performance characteristics of proposed algorithm is shown in time base by the computer simulation method.

  • In this paper, a new conceptual circuit configuration of a 3-phase voltage source, soft switching AC-DC-AC converter using an IGBT module, which has one ARCPL circuit and one ARDCL circuit, is presented. In actuality, the ARCPL circuit is applied in the 3-phase voltage source rectifier side, and the ARDCL circuit is in the inverter side. And more, each power semiconductor device has a novel clamp snubber circuit, which can save the power semiconductor device from voltage and current across each power device. The proposed soft switching circuits have only two active power semiconductor devices. These ARCPL and ARDCL circuits consist of fewer parts than the conventional soft switching circuit. Furthermore, the proposed 3-phase voltage source soft switching AC-DC-AC power conversion system needs no additional sensor for complete soft switching as compared with the conventional 3-phase voltage source AC-DC-AC power conversion system. In addition to this, these soft switching circuits operate only once in one sampling term. Therefore, the power conversion efficiency of the proposed AC-DC-AC converter system will get higher than a conventional soft switching converter system because of the reduced ARCPL and ARDCL circuit losses. The operation timing and terms for ARDCL and ARCPL circuits are calculated and controlled by the smoothing DC capacitor voltage and the output AC current. Using this control, the loss of the soft switching circuits are reduced owing to reduced resonant inductor current in ARCPL and ARDCL circuits as compared with the conventional controlled soft switching power conversion system. The operating performances of proposed soft switching AC-DC-AC converter treated here are evaluated on the basis of experimental results in a 50kVA setup in this paper. As a result of experiment on the 50kVA system, it was confirmed that the proposed circuit could reduce conduction noise below 10 MHz and improve the conversion efficiency from 88. 5% to 90.5%, when compared with the hard switching circuit.

  • This paper proposes the single-phase double-conversion UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) with ESS(Energy Storage System). The Proposed system is operating in three modes, which are normal mode, battery mode, and bypass mode. Not only in black-out but also in peak load times, the system is operating in battery mode which is using the stored energy of the battery to manage the power effectively. The validity of proposed system could be verified by simulations and experiments.

Monolithic SiGe Up-/Down-Conversion Mixers with Active Baluns

  • The purpose of this paper is to describe the implementation of monolithically matching circuits, interface circuits, and RF core circuits to the same substrate. We designed and fabricated on-chip 1 to 6 GHz up-conversion and 1 to 8 GHz down-conversion mixers using a 0.8 mm SiGe hetero-junction bipolar transistor (HBT) process technology. To fabricate a SiGe HBT, we used a reduced pressure chemical vapor deposition (RPCVD) system to grow a base epitaxial layer, and we adopted local oxidation of silicon (LOCOS) isolation to separate the device terminals. An up-conversion mixer was implemented on-chip using an intermediate frequency (IF) matching circuit, local oscillator (LO)/radio frequency (RF) wideband matching circuits, LO/IF input balun circuits, and an RF output balun circuit. The measured results of the fabricated up-conversion mixer show a positive power conversion gain from 1 to 6 GHz and a bandwidth of about 4.5 GHz. Also, the down-conversion mixer was implemented on-chip using LO/RF wideband matching circuits, LO/RF input balun circuits, and an IF output balun circuit. The measured results of the fabricated down-conversion mixer show a positive power conversion gain from 1 to 8 GHz and a bandwidth of about 4.5 GHz.

  • Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is a widely used material for replicating micro-structures because of its transparency, deformability, and easy fabrication. At the nanoscale, however, it is hard to fill a nanohole template with uncured PDMS. This paper introduces several simple methods by changing the surface energy of a nanohole template and PDMS elastomer for replicating 100nm-scale structures. In the case of template, pristine anodic aluminum oxide (AAO), hydrophobically treated AAO, and hydrophillically treated AAO are used. For the surface energy change of the PDMS elastomer, a hydrophilic additive and dilution solvent are added in the PDMS prepolymer. During the molding process, a simple casting method is used for all combinations of the treated template and modified PDMS. The nanostructured PDMS surface was investigated with a scanning electron microscope after the molding process for verification.

  • There are two cases of error occurrence of STT(Smart Temperature Transmitter). One is that because of unstable reference voltage, data from A/D converter is not reliable. The other is that because of change of room temperature, this change affects conversion of A/D converter. In this paper, we show algorithms be adapted to STT for reliable conversion of A/D converter through a experiment and compensation for temperature change. In a experiment, we collect data from reference voltage and ground then calculate nominal value of these at constant temperature during A/D converter initialization or at any conversion time. Algorithm for compensation for unstable reference voltage calculates a correction factor and adapts it to compensation for malfunction of A/D converter. Algorithm for compensation for variation of room temperature is come from linearization of thermistor but is adapted to zener diode, not thermistor, therefor we have less effort for compensation for temperature and have a idea that it can be adapted to A/D converter system.

  • Recently, The ministry of Environment in korea have introduced Euro-6d temp which was strengthened at the same time as Europe. Small Light-duty passenger vehicles need the SCR system of after-treatment to meet enhanced emission regulations. However, SCR system has a low conversion efficiency in a low temperature less than 200 degree. In this study, the NOx conversion efficiency of SCR system was analyzed by installing a NOx sensors and a temperature sensors in a diesel vehicle. Also, in order to analyze the effect of the cold-start, the test was performed on the same RDE route and compared with the test of hot-start. As a result, SCR system has characteristics of low conversion efficiency under cold-start conditions.
