Modified Deep Reinforcement Learning Agent for Dynamic Resource Placement in IoT Network Slicing

  • Network slicing is a promising paradigm and significant evolution for adjusting the heterogeneous services based on different requirements by placing dynamic virtual network functions (VNF) forwarding graph (VNFFG) and orchestrating service function chaining (SFC) based on criticalities of Quality of Service (QoS) classes. In system architecture, software-defined networks (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), and edge computing are used to provide resourceful data view, configurable virtual resources, and control interfaces for developing the modified deep reinforcement learning agent (MDRL-A). In this paper, task requests, tolerable delays, and required resources are differentiated for input state observations to identify the non-critical/critical classes, since each user equipment can execute different QoS application services. We design intelligent slicing for handing the cross-domain resource with MDRL-A in solving network problems and eliminating resource usage. The agent interacts with controllers and orchestrators to manage the flow rule installation and physical resource allocation in NFV infrastructure (NFVI) with the proposed formulation of completion time and criticality criteria. Simulation is conducted in SDN/NFV environment and capturing the QoS performances between conventional and MDRL-A approaches.

A Secure Social Networking Site based on OAuth Implementation

  • With the advancement in the area of cloud storage services as well as a tremendous growth of social networking sites, permission for one web service to act on the behalf of another has become increasingly vital as social Internet services such as blogs, photo sharing, and social networks. With this increased cross-site media sharing, there is a upscale of security implications and hence the need to formulate security protocols and considerations. Recently, OAuth, a new protocol for establishing identity management standards across services, is provided as an alternative way to share the user names and passwords, and expose personal information to attacks against on-line data and identities. Moreover, OwnCloud provides an enterprise file synchronizing and sharing that is hosted on user's data center, on user's servers, using user's storage. We propose a secure Social Networking Site (SSN) access based on OAuth implementation by combining two novel concepts of OAuth and OwnCloud. Security analysis and performance evaluation are given to validate the proposed scheme.

  • The development of Internet has created a new world called the Cyber world. However, because of the weakness in the security service, Internet service users still reluctant to use Internet to accomplish high value business transactions. To overcome this situation we must develop various security services so that the Internet service users can use any services freely As the development of Internet, the corresponding technologies are available for the general public and this makes the security services more important than ever before. In this paper, we analyze the security protocols that are supposed to solve the Internet security problems.

  • As the information and communication technology has been developed, demand for internet and multimedia is increased and customer's needs becomes diverse. Therefore, the convergence of fixed and mobile networks has emerged. Fixed - Mobile Convergence (FMC) service means that it provides users with one type of services from network access to billing regardless of networks and terminal. FMC service is expected to provide an advanced value with both networks providers and users. Wireless local area network (WLAN) and 2.3㎓ HPi are promising services that will generate enormous demands among FMC services. For that reason, this paper investigates the trend of WLAN and HPi in Korea and abroad and suggests future deployment based on reviewing the literature.

An Empirical Study on Consumer's Continued Use of IPTV Service (IPTV 서비스의 지속적 사용에 대한 실증 분석 연구)

  • Recently, IPTV attracts great attention along with the digital convergence of communication and media technologies. This study examined critical factors on the consumer's continued use of the IPTV service. Based on the expectation-confirmation theory and the innovation diffusion theory, we derived nine key factors in the research model-relative advantage, compatibility, ease of use, image, diversity of contents, interactivity, monetary value, social influence, and user satisfaction. Using the partial least square method, we found that content diversity and compatibility have a significant indirect effect on the continued use of the IPTV service via user satisfaction, and user satisfaction and social influence also have a significant direct impact on the IPTV use. These findings not only provide practical insights on the consumer acceptance of new technology-converging services, but also help managers to plan their marketing strategies better.

Augmented Reality Service Based on Object Pose Prediction Using PnP Algorithm

  • Digital media technology is gradually developing with the development of convergence quaternary industrial technology and mobile devices. The combination of deep learning and augmented reality can provide more convenient and lively services through the interaction of 3D virtual images with the real world. We combine deep learning-based pose prediction with augmented reality technology. We predict the eight vertices of the bounding box of the object in the image. Using the predicted eight vertices(x,y), eight vertices(x,y,z) of 3D mesh, and the intrinsic parameter of the smartphone camera, we compute the external parameters of the camera through the PnP algorithm. We calculate the distance to the object and the degree of rotation of the object using the external parameter and apply to AR content. Our method provides services in a web environment, making it highly accessible to users and easy to maintain the system. As we provide augmented reality services using consumers' smartphone cameras, we can apply them to various business fields.

Analysis and Forecasting for ICT Convergence Industries (ICT 융합 산업의 현황 및 전망)

  • The trade balance for the information and communications technology (ICT) industries in 2014 have reached 863 hundred million dollars as the main export products such as smart phone and semi-conductor increase, since the ICT industries have played an important role in economic growth in Korea. Until now, the consistent supporting of government and investment of company have been doing with the growth of ICT industries, as a result, Korea marked as the first in the UN electronic government preparing index, and rank 12 in the network preparing index through the policy of national information and basic plan of inter-industry convergence. However, as the unstable international economic circumstances, ICT industries is faced with the stagnation, and then preemptive development of products and services for ICT convergence industries is needed to continually get definite ICT Korea image. In this paper, the ICT convergence industry is analyzed and forecasted. In specific, the international and domestic market for cloud, 3D convergence, and internet of things is diagnosed. The market for ICT convergence industries is predicted to be 3.6 trillion dollar in the world, and 110 trillion won in domestic. From the analytical results for technology and services development, the preemptive supporting of the technology development and policy for the internet of things and 3D convergence industries is required. In addition to, through the future forecasting by socio-tech matrix method, the policy supporting for the ICT convergence area of healthcare, fintech, artificial intelligence, body platform, and human security is needed.

A Feasibility Study on the Location Based Services under Ubiquitous Environment (유비쿼터스 환경에서 위치기반서비스의 활용성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to predict promising Location Based Services under an ubiquitous environment based on their technical characteristics, which is strongly required in rapidly changing circumstances with ubiquitous computing and Broadband Convergence Network (BcN). To begin with, this study proposes a classification scheme of ubiquitous services and defines five technology factors required for ubiquitous services. Next, this study collects a number of ubiquitous services from previous researches and classified them according to the classification scheme of ubiquitous services. And then, technical importance of the collected ubiquitous services are evaluated in terms of technology factors by using service-technology metrics. Finally, a set of important Location Based Services under ubiquitous environments and the correlations between technology factors are identified by using the evaluation results.

New Framework for Convergent Services between Telecommunication and Broadcasting: Public Goods and Interactivity (방송.통신 융합서비스의 적정 규제 방안: 서비스의 공공재적 속성과 양방향적 특성을 중심으로)

  • As we know, broadcasting implies a unilateral transmission by one sender to several recipients of information generally produced by third parties. Contrary to that, telecommunications implies an exchange between participants. Participants exchange information they produce during an interaction. However, in the age of convergence between telecommunication and broadcasting, it becomes difficult to determine exactly the boundary between services classified under telecommunications and those classified under broadcasting services. This means that new regulatory regime should be introduced to meet the convergence between telecommunication and broadcasting. In this article, we try to overcome the existing framework for understanding and regulating convergent services. In order to develop more powerful and useful framework for dealing with new convergent services, we focus on the original characteristic of "cast services," which could give us very significant basis for further discussion. "Cast services," such as traditional broadcasting services, have the characteristics of both public goods (non-exclusivity and non-rivalry in consumption) and non-interactivity. Depending on the existence of these three characteristics, we are able to apply different regulatory regime to those convergent services.

A study on Development of Certification Schemes for Cloud Security (국내 클라우드 보안 인증스킴 개발에 관한 연구)

  • As the cloud computing law was passed in March, 2015, many private companies and public organizations give consideration to introduce cloud computing services. However, most of them are still concerned about the security issues in cloud computing services. To solve the problem, a certification system of cloud security is necessary as an enabler for adoption of the trusted cloud services. There have been a number of studies about certification systems for cloud security, but only few studies exist about certification scheme of cloud security. Therefore, in this study, foreign certification systems for cloud security are analyzed to draw requirements for developing a domestic certification scheme for cloud security. Based on the result of analysis, this study proposes the three certification schemes of cloud security, which have been reviewed by the focus group interview method to draw advantages and disadvantages of each scheme.
