  • The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting perceived safety climate and the level of incident reporting attitude, incident reporting knowledge and safety climate. The data were collected by structured questionnaires from 240 nurses and were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression. The level of incident reporting attitude and incident reporting knowledge was 3.34 and 3.05. The level of safety climate was 3.25. Incident reporting knowledge and safety climate have a significant positive association with incident reporting attitude(r=.33, p<.001; r=.38, p<.001). Incident reporting knowledge was positively associated with safety climate(r=.32, p<.001). Factors influencing safety climate were incident reporting knowledge, belief in improvement and reporting intention which explained 24.7% of the variance(F=12.22, p<.001). The findings indicate that to improve incident reporting knowledge with positive attitude and safety climate should be considered as patient safety strategy and should endeavour to develop interventions for safety.

  • This study is a complex type consisting of survey study and self-study. The former investigated elementary teachers' epistemological beliefs on convergence knowledge and teaching. As a representative of the result of survey study I, as a teacher as well as a researcher, was the participant of the self-study, which investigated my epistemological belief on convergence knowledge and teaching and my execution of convergent science teaching based on family resemblance of mathematics, science, and physical education. A set of open-ended written questionnaires was administered to 28 elementary teachers. Participating teachers considered convergent teaching as discipline-using or multi-disciplinary teaching. They also have epistemological beliefs in which they conceived convergence knowledge as aggregation of diverse disciplinary knowledge and students could get it through their own problem solving processes. As a teacher and researcher I have similar epistemological belief as the other teachers. During the self-study, I tried to apply convergence knowledge system based on the family resemblance analysis among math, science, and PE to my teaching. Inter-disciplinary approach to convergence teaching was not easy for me to conduct. Mathematical units, ratio and rate were linked to science concept of velocity so that it was effective to converge two disciplines. Moreover PE offered specific context where the concepts of math and science were connected convergently so that PE facilitated inter-disciplinary convergent teaching. The gaps between my epistemological belief and inter-disciplinary convergence knowledge based on family resemblance and the cases of how to bridge the gap by my experience were discussed.

  • In order to continue to grow in response to the rapidly changing industrial environments, companies must retain technological innovation capabilities and enhance market competitiveness. When competition is intensifying for creating new businesses and developing new products through technology commercialization, creating and utilizing technology convergence performance is an important means to create new competitiveness. However, there has been a lack of effort to systematically understand the level of technology convergence performance of the enterprise and to understand its relationship with management performance. In this paper, we develop a new analytical index by segmenting the technology convergence into patent variety, balance and disparity using patented IPC code information based on the concepts presented in existing diversity studies. In addition, 4,522 patents granted for three years between 2013 and 2015 by 219 KOSDAQ companies belonging to the domestic ICT convergence industry were analyzed to demonstrate that the level of technology convergence performance is positively related to sales growth rate in 2016.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of the recently introduced Hint-knowledge distillation (KD) training approach based on the teacher-student framework for knowledge distillation and knowledge transfer. As a deep neural network (DNN) considered in this paper, the deep residual network (ResNet), which is currently regarded as the latest DNN, is used for the teacher-student framework. Therefore, when implementing the Hint-KD training, we investigate the impact on the weight of KD information based on the soften factor in terms of classification accuracy using the widely used open deep learning frameworks, Caffe. As a results, it can be seen that the recognition accuracy of the student model is improved when the fixed value of the KD information is maintained rather than the gradual decrease of the KD information during training.

  • The study examines the effects of knowledge combination and of its interaction with technological change on the usefulness of inventions. We argue that inventing with knowledge components of prior art or with those in a variety of technical fields results in useful inventions, which changes after the emergence of dominant design because external actors' perception of which knowledge components are appropriate in current technological environments changes. Based on data from U.S. granted optical disc patents filed from 1992 to 2000, the results show that inventions with more new knowledge components relative to their prior art are less useful but that inventions with more diversified knowledge components are more useful. Also, the empirical findings show that the negative relationship between new knowledge components of inventions and their usefulness strengthens after dominant design emerges.
