A Comparative Analysis and Process Design among the Gear Blank Forging Process (기어블랭크 단조공정의 비교해석 및 공정설계)

  • Cold forging is a special type of forging process in which metal is forced to flow plastically under compressive force into a variety of shapes in room temperature. Gear blank, which is produced by cold forging, is concerned with the production method of transmission gear. Based on the results of simulation of the current four-stage process, the gear blank forging process for improving the conventional process sequence is designed. The rigid plastic finite element analysis for improving the conventional process. The new process consists of three stage operations with one annealing treatment after first operation. Based on the results of simulation of the proposed process, a required equipment could be selected. The new designed process appears to be more economical in producing the gear blank.

  • We investigated the maximum controllable current characteristics of the CB-BRT (Corrugated p-Base-Base Resistance Controlled Thyristor), which suppresses the snap-back effectively and increases the maximum controllable current(MCC) by employing the corrugated p-base. Experimental result shows that, when compared with conventional BRT, the MCC of the CB-BRT exhibits good stability on various process parameters. The MCC of the CB-BRT is larger than that of the conventional BRT by 50%, and the variation of the MCC in CB-BRT, caused by variation of the process parameters, is only 20% of that of the conventional BRT.

  • EEG(Electroencephalogram) background signals can be represented as the sun of a conventional AR(Autoregressive) process and an innovation process, or a prediction error process. We have seen that conventional estimation techniques. such as least square estimates(LSE) or Gaussian maximum likelihood estimates(MLE-G) are optimal when the innovation process satisfies the Gaussian or presumed distribution. But when the data are contaminated by outliers, or artifacts, these assumptions are not met and conventional estimation techniques can badly fall and be strongly biased. It is known that EEG can be easily affected by artifacts. So we suggest a robust estimation technique which considerably performs well against those artifacts.

  • This paper proposes a looperless tension control algorithm which is robust to disturbance and tensional variation in rolling process using SVR(Support Vector Regression). Hot rolling process which is global technology to coil steel after continuous finishing process for welded bars followed by roughing mill process, becomes hot issue. Finishing mill process not only makes it possible to produce ultra thin steel strip(0.8 mm) but enhance the quality of terminals of coil, which increases the productivity due to faster process. Constant tension control between stands in hot rolling process is essential to enhance the quality of steel. Sensorless tension control is under research by some advanced companies to replace the conventional tension control method because in continuous finishing mill process, it is impossible to install the looper used in conventional control system. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • The conventional FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) manufacturing process used thermoset resins for ease of molding but faced the issue of non-recyclability. To address these shortcomings, a new process utilizing thermal plastic resin was developed. However, due to the high viscosity of thermal plastic resin, problems such as fiber deformation and a reduced fiber volume fraction occurred during the high-temperature, high-pressure process. In this study, to overcome the limitations of the conventional process, fiber-reinforced composite materials were manufactured through in-situ polymerization using PLA (Poly L-Lactide) resin in the VA-RTM (Vacuum Assistance Resin Transfer Molding) process. The fiber volume of the produced specimens was calculated, and resin impregnation and porosity were confirmed through optical microscopy. Additionally, molecular weight analysis using GPC (Gel Permission Chromatography) demonstrated improvements over the conventional process and emphasized the essential requirement of temperature control.

  • In this paper, we proposed the novel device and process design to enhance the uniformity of low-temperature poly-Si TFTs fabricated by sequential lateral solidification (SLS). The proposed design schemes can avert the conventional two-shot SLS process-induced issues. Moreover, different design considerations between conventional excimer laser crystallization and the SLS process were also proposed and discussed.

  • A genetic algorithm was applied to an arc welding process to determine near optimal settings of welding process parameters which produce good weld quality. It has an advantage of being able to find optimal conditions with a fewer number of experiments than conventional full factorial design. According to the conventional full factorial design, in order to find the optimal welding conditions, 16,384 experiments must be performed. The genetic algorithm however, found the near optimal welding conditions from less than 60 experiments.

  • This study is to investigate the kinetics of anaerobic process, the effect of mass transfer on process, and the characteristics of the conventional anaerobic bioreactor, and develop new high efficiency bioreactor. In the new bioreactor wastewater containing highly concentrated organic materials, was treated without diluting wastewater. In this experiment the high COD removal rate (about 88%) and gas production(about 200l/d) was showed with short residence time(1.5 day). This performance is about 10 times as large as the conventional reactor.

  • Process contract has received considerable attention in silk degumming processes because of its critical role in quality assurance. In degumming, process exhibits shrinkage of high twisted yarn and lot-varying behavior, thus increasing the difficulties of reduction by conventional means. This necessitates the application of a package that adapts to changing degumming process, and a new approach involving package degumming is proposed. The gains of this process are prevent of shrinkage by package winding, which is simplified by reduced soft-winding or re-twisting process. The approach is expected to achieve high quality results in conventional process due to its feature of demage by tension and rubbing. Therefore package degumming has many merits such as reduce of pilling and shrinkage, production expenses saving by process contract are expected of the simplified degumming process.

  • Powder metallurgy process has many advantages such as hight efficientyof material, mass productivity and complex shape production with good mechanical properties. Among the powder forming processes, incremental forging allows the consolidation to be achieved with amaller force then those required by conventional forging. In particular the proces known as rotary forging is an unique and prodominant process known as rotary forging is an unique and prodominant process in which the working constraints approximate to those in normal closed die forging. This study is concerned with the powder compaction by rotary forging process. An experimental rotary forging press with 500kN load capacity has been developed, which is equippe dwith the rotational conicla die inclined to the central axis of the press at arbitrary angle. It is found that the highly densified P/M parts can be obtained by rotary forging process and the material properties are superior to those of the conventrional sintered parts. The detailedcomparision of the mechanical properties by rotary forging process with those by conventional process are given.
