KCAB에 대한 주요 국제중재기관들의 사무국 운영방식의 시사점 (Implications of the Management System on the Secretariats of Major International Arbitration Institutions for the KCAB)

  • If a certain country or an arbitration institution hopes to keep ahead of the fierce competition in the international arbitration market, it needs to develop hardware factors, such as i) Facility and Infra, ii) Geographical Location, iii) Professional Staff, iv) Global Network, v) Capital, and vi) Arbitrators & Practitioners etc., along with software factors including i) Arbitration Rules of Law, ii) Court's Support, iii) International Convention, iv) Political Risk, and v) Education Environment, which are the most critical requirements in the development strategy for international arbitration. Having perceived the above situation, the Korean government has been working on amending the Korean Arbitration Act to reflect global advanced practice of international arbitration, and seeking to enact laws that will promote our arbitration industry and create a more arbitration-friendly environment. The KCAB is also currently revising both the domestic and international arbitration rules in accordance with these national efforts. Under these circumstances, this paper examines how major leading international arbitration institutions manage their secretariats and suggests how the KCAB can compose and manage its Secretariat to gain a competitive advantage over rival institutions.

Distribution Knowledge, Research, and Journal in Korea

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to explore, examine, and analyze Journal of Distribution Science and its articles based on five key factors of journal selection process by Thompson and to provide foundations for further knowledge creation and theory building in the areas of distribution and distribution science. Research design, data, methodology - This study used an exploratory case study method to engage article analysis and reviews of Journal of Distribution Science. Thompson's five journal selection factors were used as criteria for the journal and article analyses and review. Results - Journal of Distribution Science is currently meeting or at least in the progress of meeting the following factors: timeliness of publication, international editorial convention, international diversity, and citation analysis. However, JDS is short of meeting the factor of editorial content. The research topics were not new, emerging, and/or distinctive, and they were not directly associated with specific region or country other than Korea. Conclusions - The findings from this study could lead the field of distribution to reexamine the core knowledge, to reestablish the fundamental concepts and principles, to formulate and propose academically and practically sound research methods, and to develop and focus on unique research topics in the area of distribution.

  • Stabilizing the operation of dual fuel diesel engines is very important. The shipbuilding industry is rapidly growing, but gear components requiring reliability are still imported from other countries. The reasoning for this is three-fold. Firstly, it is compulsory that all ships must use devices that meet the performance standards specified in the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the convention of MARine POLlution (MAPOL) to prevent pollution caused by ships. Secondly, most ships must comply with the ship classifications specified by ship owners. Therefore, it is specified that key engine gear components must be inspected and authorized for the quality and performance specified by the Ship Register Authority. Thirdly, it is essential that devices (engine gear) for human safety in ships comply with quality standards specified in the regulations and rules by the government. The Ship Register Authority's strict quality standards and approval requirements contribute to the reduction of motivation towards new investment and technology development by device component manufacturers. Therefore, this study aims to develop a method for using infrared thermography to examine gear reliability in order to ensure gear component reliability and national competitiveness in the global market.

  • Strategic alliance is increasingly becoming a popular strategy in the family restaurant industry. In general, strategic alliance can be defined as several brands collaborating in technology development, marketing, or production while keeping their independence as separate business entities. This study identified segments on the basis of sales promotion resulting from strategic alliances between family restaurants and card companies. This study further investigated how brand image, brand value, price fairness, customer loyalty and demographics are different among the segments. From the statistical analysis, three segments were found; 'short-period benefits oriented' segment, 'intangible and discount benefits oriented' segment and 'free benefits oriented' segment. Among the three segments, the 'free benefits oriented' and 'intangible and discount benefits oriented' segments had greater perceived brand image, brand value and customer loyalty than the 'short-period benefits oriented' segment.

  • Global warming started as the scientific problem in 20th century is being highlighted as the environmental issue with the conclusion of convention on climate change. It has great influence in all aspects of nature, especially 'Eco-friendly design' that takes not only health life of present but also affluent life in the future into consideration became an inevitable trend in almost all industries including the apparel and distribution industry worldwide. Therefore, this study is an eco-friendly tendency in fashion that are hot issue in the world and focused on advertisement and collection since 2000. The aim of this is to classify eco-friendly fashion design study presented in contemporary fashion brand. In result, it was analyzed fourth tendencies as follows : eco-friendly tendency with organic material, upgradation of recycle fashion, green campaign and well-being LOHAS fashion. In this aspect, eco-friendly tendency that is expanded to overall society, culture and living shows in present.

가족경영협약 실태분석과 체결의향 분석 (A Study on the Condition of Family Management Convention and its Intention to Sign it)

  • This paper analyzed the necessity of family management agreement in management succession and the intention of signing it. To this end, 139 management successors were surveyed and the factors affecting the family management agreement were analyzed. The main analysis results are as follows. Firstly, Priority in the management agreement system was the highest participation in decision-making with 34.5 percent, or 19 people, followed by the sharing of management roles and the distribution of revenues and expenses with 27.3 percent, respectively. Secondly, An analysis of the difference between cohabitation with parents and the need for a family management agreement showed that 70.2 percent of successors and 51.7 percent of non-residents shared the opinion that a family management agreement is needed. Finally, according to the analysis, the lower the age of the heirs, the higher the willingness to sign the family management agreement, the more likely the successor who graduated from a related university in the agricultural industry, and the more likely the successor who is a farmer in an urban area, the more willing he is to sign the family management agreement.

자갈치 수산관광단지 조성방안에 관한 연구 - 먹거리를 중심으로 - (Developing the Jagalchi Marine Tour Complexes - Focusing on Foods -)

  • The objective of this study is to suggest development methods of marine tour complexes by specializing and modernizing the renowned Jagalchi Fish Market. This study tries to suggest the ways of overcoming limitations of the traditional market place and making a unique tourism destination with affluent attractive culture elements. To preserve its position as the most famous fish market in Korea, Jagalchi market needs to more differentiate its position over competitors. To do that, it needs to avoid over-lapping of product categories among different sectors and specializing each zone according to the assigned theme. Improving tourism environments by expanding entertaining aspects, building landmark facilities and a seaside park, and tourism infrastructures. In addition, the development scheme needs to be planned unified with other city development plans to create a unified image, and a connection program with other tourism resources surrounding the target area needs to be created in order to pursue synergy effects. In the aspect of food, a large seafood center which offers various seafood from all around the world, a traditional night market street, various theme restaurants can be suggested. Successful development of the Jagalchi marine tour complexes not only has ripple effects on the region's culture, society, and other related industries but directly influences related regional tourism and commercial industry.

외식 프랜차이즈 기업의 생산 전략이 가맹점의 조리 역량과 만족도 및 재계약 의도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Production Strategies in Foodservice Franchisorson Franchisees' Culinary Competence, Satisfaction, and Recontract Intention)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of production strategies operated by franchisors in the food service industry on the franchisees' culinary competence and subsequently franchisees' satisfaction with performance and recontract intention. In order to accomplish this purpose, two franchised enterprises which used mass-purchasing and mass-producing before distributing to each franchisee for the production strategies were participated and eventually 287 franchisees responded to this survey. Factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha showed the validity and internal consistency for the survey questionnaire. LISREL(8.72) was used to test the relationships between variables; production strategy, culinary competences, franchisee satisfaction, and recontract intention of the franchisees. The results present that the franchisees' satisfaction with the management system, quality of distribution, and quality of foods influenced on differentiation performance and supply performance of franchisees. On cost performance, only satisfaction with the food cost had an impact. The higher franchisee satisfaction with the franchisees' operations was, the higher recontract intention was in the franchise business. The results suggest the critical points for improving foodservice supplying system as well.

  • Global warming has become one of the most important social responsibilities. After Kyoto protocol for greenhouse gas reduction by climatic change convention came into effect, developed countries are presenting various policies to reduce greenhouse gas that is produced in transport field. One of those policies is modal shift that change from road freight to sea, inland waterway and railway transportation that is eco-friendly. Because increase of road freight brings about road congestion and accident, logistics cost, air pollution and green house gases. Railways are superior to all other modes of transport in mass transportability, high speed, timeliness, safety and environmental-friendliness, but the railway industry has been pushed behind in competition. In developed country's government actively promoted relevant legislation, policies, and countermeasures known as modal shift policies to shift freight transport from road to large volume mode such as railway and ship. In this paper, we discuss the current situation in modal shift, compare it with cases in other countries EU and Japan, identify problems in Korea, and propose the following ways to enhance competitiveness of rail freight.

패밀리 레스토랑에서의 브랜드 증거 형성 요인이 브랜드 만족과 고객 애호도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Constructs of Brand Evidence on Brand Satisfaction and Customer Loyalty in the Family Restaurant)

  • In the service industry brand was getting more importance in marketing and brand should be researched more. So the purpose of this study was to identify the causal relationships of 'constructs of brand evidence-brand satisfaction-feelings-brand satisfaction-customer loyalty'. In this research constructs of brand evidence were brand image, price (value for money), servicescapes, core service, employee service, and self-image congruence. This research used family restaurants settings using a sample of customers visiting and enjoying menus at family restaurant stores of Youngnam province. A total of 222 questionnaires were analyzed with SPSS/PC+12.0 and LISREL8.30. Empirical results were that firstly, price, core service and employee service affected brand satisfaction and secondly, employee service, core service, servicescape affected postive feelings and thirdly, brand evidence constructs except self-image congruence influenced negative feelings and lastly, brand satisfaction influenced customer loyalty. On the basis of these findings, family restaurant manager should pay much attention to constructs of brand evidence and use these variables to appeal to and understand target market.
