The effect of compression in the strain ageing of Ferrovac E iron has been examined with compressive testing following the prestrain in compression. Both prestraining and testing were preformed at room temperature with the strain rate of 1.9$\times$10$^{-4}$ se $c^{-1}$ and that of 0.95$\times$10$^{-4}$ se $c^{-1}$ , respectively. Ageing was carried out at several temperatures below 8$0^{\circ}C$ using thermostatically controlled oil baths with a temperature control within$\pm$1$^{\circ}C$. It was found that the rate of strain ageing obeyed the $t^{2}$3/ law up to about five hours ageing at 6$0^{\circ}C$. The rate was slower than theses reported in case of the tensile prestrained iron. Activation energy for strain ageing has been estimated as 21.5 Kcal/mole at tile first stage of the aging process. At the second stage of ageing where the $t^{2}$3/ law is still valid, however, the activation energy was somewhat decreased. The activation energy at the first stage of ageing was about 10% larger than published results on the tensile-prestraining. This difference between the activation energies is explained in terms of the residual stress field in lattice.

In the thermal power plant, there are six manipulated variables: main steam flow, feedwater flow, fuel flow, air flow, spray flow, and gas recirculation flow. There are five controlled variables: generator output, main steam pressure, main steam temperature, exhaust gas density, and reheater steam temperature. Therefore, the thermal power plant control system is a multinput and output system. In the control system, the main steam temperature is typically regulated by the fuel flow rate and the spray flow rate, and the reheater steam temperature is regulated by the gas recirculation flow rate. However, strict control of the steam temperature must be maintained to avoid thermal stress. Maintaining the steam temperature can be difficult due to heating value variation to the fuel source, time delay changes in the main steam temperature versus changes in fuel flow rate, difficulty of control of the main steam temperature control and the reheater steam temperature control system owing to the dynamic response characteristics of changes in steam temperature and the reheater steam temperature, and the fluctuation of inner fluid water and steam flow rates during the load-following operation. Up to the present time, the Proportional-Integral-Derivative Controller has been used to operate this system. However, it is very difficult to achieve an optimal PID gain with no experience, since the gain of the PID controller has to be manually tuned by trial and error. This paper focuses on the characteristic comparison of the PID controller and the modified 2-DOF PID Controller (Two-Degrees-Freedom Proportional-Integral-Derivative) on the DCS (Distributed Control System). The method is to design an optimal controller that can be operated on the thermal generating plant in Seoul, Korea. The modified 2-DOF PID controller is designed to enable parameters to fit into the thermal plant during disturbances. To attain an optimal control method, transfer function and operating data from start-up, running, and stop procedures of the thermal plant have been acquired. Through this research, the stable range of a 2-DOF parameter for only this system could be found for the start-up procedure and this parameter could be used for the tuning problem. Also, this paper addressed whether an intelligent tuning method based on immune network algorithms can be used effectively in tuning these controllers.

Photo-curable material can be crosslinked among molecules by light source such as UV and visible light materials. Material properties are controlled by crosslink reaction. Shrinkage is occured during the curing reaction of material structure. Phenomenon of shrinkage stress occurs inside the product and reduce the stability of the product causes problems. Heat shrink the evaluation of the phenomenon has been formalized. But the evaluation of photo shrink is not enough. In this experiment, real-time contract with shrinkage tester phenomena and analysis degree of shrinkage of the material differences. According to the research, experimental results and theoretical analysis of the results were big differences. Shrinkage, especially for a number of different functional groups that were very different theory. These differences are occurred by the molecular structure different and not enough reaction.

The dental implant materials required good mechanical properties, such as fatigue strength, combined with a high resistance to corrosion. For increasing fatigue resistance and delaying onset of stress corrosion cracking, shot peening has been used for > 50 years to extend service life of metal components. However, there is no information on the electrochemical behavior of shot peened and hydroxyapatite(HA) coated Ti-6Al-4V alloys. To increase fatigue strength, good corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility, the electrochemical characteristics of Ti/TiN/HA coated and shot peened Ti-6Al-4V alloys by electron beam physical vapor deposition(EB-PVD) have been researched by various electrochemical method in 0.9%NaCl. Ti-6Al-4V alloys were prepared under the condition of hydrogen and vacuum arc furnace. The produced materials were quenched at 1000$^{\circ}C$ under high purity dried Ar atmosphere and were hold at 500$^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs to achieve the fatigue strength(1140㎫) of materials. Ti-6Al-4V alloys were prepared under the condition of hydrogen and vacuum arc furnace. Shot peening(SP) and sand blasting treatment was carried out for 1, 5, and 10min. On the surface of Ti-6Al-4V alloys using the steel balls of 0.5mm and alumina sand of 40$\mu\textrm{m}$ size. Ti/TiN/HA multilayer coatings were carried out by using electron-beam deposition method(EB-PVD) as shown Fig. 1. Bulk Ti, powder TiN and hydroxyapatite were used as the source of the deposition materials. Electrons were accelerated by high voltage of 4.2kV with 80 - 120mA on the deposition materials at 350$^{\circ}C$ in 2.0 X 10-6 torr vacuum. Ti/TiN/HA multilayer coated surfaces and layers were investigated by SEM and XRD. A saturated calomel electrode as a reference electrode, and high density carbon electrode as a counter electrode, were set according to ASTM GS-87. The potentials were controlled at a scan rate of 100 mV/min. by a potentiostat (EG&G Co.273A) connected to a computer system. Electrochemical tests were used to investigate the electrochemical characteristics of Ti/TiN/HA coated and shot peened materials in 0.9% NaCl solution at 36.5$^{\circ}C$. After each electrochemical measurement, the corrosion surface of each sample was investigated by SEM.
The geology of the northwestern Cheju Island consist of Pleistocene to Holocene volcanic rocks which could be devided into basalt layers, the Sungsan Formation composed mainly of volcaniclastic debris exposed along the shoreline, and more than 30 cinder cones. Columnar joints and vesicles are dominant in the basalts of the Pyeosunri and the Sihungri basalt Formations. Volcaniclast and clay layers are intercalated in basaltic layers. When volcaniclast of the interlayers would be swept away by ground water and some caves of channel shape would be formaed. Overlying lavas cracked by columnar joints could be easily destroyed, collapsed and/or sunk. Geomechananical nature of the rocks such as strength may be controlled by the vesicularity(size, shape, and orientation of the vesicles) of the rocks. On the basis of vesicularity as a factor of strength, the effective strength ratio(Ke) could be calculated as Ke=0.3-0.72, in which the smaller Ke value reflects the lower in internal stress. In the studied area, the strength of the rocks tends to decrease as increasing in altitude of provenance of the rocks. The rocks in the area show relatively low values in angle of failure strength($\phi$) ranging from 10$^{\circ}$ to 30$^{\circ}$. In conclnsion, the rocks in question, majority of which the critical value exceeds 0.33, belong to the unstable rocks in the aspect of engineering geology.

Objectives: Particulate matter (PM) at construction sites mostly originates from either construction activities or the atmospheric environment. This study was conducted to evaluate the exposure level to PM and the contribution ratio of atmosphere sources at construction sites. Methods: We reviewed literature and governmental systems related to PM exposure in occupational settings and summarized them. In the field evaluation, five construction sites and one golf course were selected: two from Gyeonggi-do Province and four from North Gyeongsang-do Province. For each site, personal samples from outdoor construction workers and area samples from the outdoor area around the construction site office were collected according to construction work types. PM concentrations reported from nearby National Ambient Air Monitoring Stations were recorded. Respirable dust concentrations, respirable silica concentrations, and several metal concentrations including Cd, Cr, Pb, and As were monitored over four months. In the end we suggested how to manage particulate matter exposure at construction sites. Results: There was little literature reporting on exposure levels of construction workers to PM. Respirable dust concentrations measured in Gyeonggi-do Province were higher than those measured in North Gyeongsang-do Province. The geometric means of respirable dust concentrations in personal samples and area samples were $37.89{\mu}g/m^3$ and $92.86{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. The respirable dust concentrations were higher than the PM concentrations reported from nearby National Ambient Air Monitoring Station. The geometric means of respirable silica concentrations of personal samples and area samples were $1.3{\mu}g/m^3$ and $1.1{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. All metal concentrations were lower than 10% of individual Korean occupational exposure limits. Conclusions: Assuming that personal samples consisted of ambient PM and dust originating from work activities and area samples only collected ambient PM, we concluded that the dust exposure of outdoor construction workers originated 40.8% from the atmosphere and 59.2% from construction activities. PM exposure at construction sites should be controlled by employers, as in the case of outdoor heat stress. The Korean government needs to consider setting an occupational exposure limit for respirable dust.

This study is to evaluate the characteristics of SCC at the welded region of high strength steel using acoustic emission(AE) method. Specimens were loaded by a slow strain rate method in synthetic seawater and the damage process was monitored simultaneously by AE method. Corrosive environment was controlled using the potentiostat, in which -0.8V and -1.1V were applied to the specimens. In the case of one-pass weldment subjected to -0.8V, much more AE counts were detected compared with the PWHT specimen. It was verified through the cumulative counts that coalescence of micro cracks and cracks for the one pass weldment with -0.8V were mostly detected. In case of the one pass weldment subjected to -1.1V, time to failure became shorter and AE counts were produced considerably as compared with that of the two pass weldment. It was shown that AE counts and range of AE amplitude have close relations with the number and size as well as width of the cracks which were formed during the SCC.
The objective of this study was to identify the effects of ozone on the two species in controlled environment. $Sedum$$kamtschaticum$ and $Hosta$$longipes$ were exposed in both control and ozone chamber to investigate photosynthesis, antioxidant enzyme activity, visible damage, the number and the size of stomata and the plastogloubuli. Ozone was fumigated in the concentration of $200{\mu}g{\cdot}kg^{-1}$ for 8 hours in a day (from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM). Firstly, net photosynthesis of two species was decreased after ozone fumigation. Secondly, glutathione reductase activities showed significant difference between control and ozone treatment. Thirdly, visible symptoms of leaves were expressed such as chlorosis, necrosis and decoloration. Also, the size of stoma was significantly decreased in ozone-exposed plants. Furthermore, the intercellular space of $Hosta$$longipes$ showed increased phenomenon because the mesophyll was collapsed. The number and the size of the plastogloubuli were significantly larger in ozone stress.
Electrochemical Quartz Crystal microbalance is a tool that is capable of measuring nanogram-scale mass change on electrode surface. When applying alternating voltage to the quartz crystal with metal electrode formed on both sides, a resonant frequency by inverse piezoelectric effect depends on its thickness. The resonant frequency changes sensitively by mass change on its electrode surface; frequency increase with metal dissolution and decrease with metal deposition on the electrode surface. The relationship between resonant frequency and mass change is shown by Sauerbrey equation so that the mass change during metal dissolution can be measured in real time. Especially, it is effective in the case of reaction mechanism and rate studies accompanied by precipitation, volatilization, compound formation, etc. resulting in difficulties on ex-situ AA or ICP analysis. However, it should be carefully considered during EQCM experiments that temperature, viscosity, and hydraulic pressure of solution, and stress and surface roughness can affect on the resonant frequency. Application of EQCM was shown as a case study on leaching of platinum using aqueous chlorine for obtaining activation energy. A platinum electrode of quartz crystal oscillator with 1000 Å thickness exposed to solution was used as leaching sample. Electrogenerated chlorine as oxidant was purged and its concentration was controlled in hydrochloric acid solution. From the experimental results, platinum dissolution by chlorine is chemical reaction control with activation energy of 83.5 kJ/mol.
This paper represents 50 ㎓ narrow band pass filters for fiber optical communication fabricated by dual ion beam sputtering method. We have analyzed the characteristics of the TA$_2$$O_{5}$ and $SiO_2$ single layers in order to optimize the process conditions for the 50 ㎓ narrow band pass filters, and controlled the film thickness uniformity to less than 0.1 nm deviation by dual peak spike filter pre-deposition. We designed and fabricated 50 ㎓ narrow band pass filters that consist of 216 layers including 4 cavities based on quarter wave optical thickness. Class substrates with high thermal expansion coefficients were used to reduce the film stress. Anti-reflection coating at the rear side of the substrate was also needed to reduce the optical thickness errors of the Optical Monitoring System caused by multiple beam interference between the front side and the rear side of substrate. The optical characteristics of this 50 ㎓ narrow band pass filters are insertion loss of 0.40 ㏈, pass band ripple of 0.20 ㏈, and pass bandwidth at -0.5 ㏈ of 0.20 nm. and isolation bandwidth at -25 ㏈ of 0.6 nm, which satisfy specifications of dense WDM system in fiber optical communications.tions.
