  • This paper describes a study on the series resonant inverter using the double full-bridge, and the output voltage of the proposed inverter is controlled by phase shift angle of the outputs of two inverters. These control schemes can be reduce the switching loss and EMI, etc, which the inverter is drived by auto following control of output frequency, because it is impossible for switching devices to be always turned on and off at zero voltage or zero current. Theoretical characteristics of the proposed double inverter circuit are compared with Pspice simulation and experimental results.

  • A single-phase bi-directional inverter with a diode bridge-type resonant circuit to implement ZVT(Zero Voltage Transition) switching is proposed. It is shown that the polarized ramptime current control algorithm, a method that belongs to the family of ZACE(Zero Average Current Error) methods, is a suitable technique to integrate with a typical single-phase ZVT inverter. The proposed current control algorithm is analyzed to design the circuit with auxiliary switch which can operate with ZVT for the main power switch. The simulation results would be shown to verify the proposed current algorithm to turn the main power switch on with ZVT and to operate the inverter bi-directionally

  • In this paper, the eigenvalue sensitivity analysis is calculated in the power system which is including both generator controllers such as Exciter, PSS and thyristor controlled FACTS devices in transmission lines such as TCSC. Exciter and PSS are continuously operating controllers but TCSC has a switching device which operates non-continuously. To analyze both continuous and non-continuous operating equipments, the RCF method one of the numerical analysis method in discrete time domain is applied using discrete models of the power system. Also the eigenvalue sensitivity calculation algorithm using state transition equations in discrete time domain is devised and applied to a sampled system. As a result of simulation, the eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients calculated using discrete system models in discrete time domain are changed periodically and showed different values compared to those of continuous system model in time domain by the effect of periodic switching operations of TCSC.

It is shown that the ZACE(Zero Average Current Error) algorithm based polarized ramptime current control can provide a suitable interface between diode bridge-type resonant circuit DC link and the inverter. The current control algorithm is analyzed about how to design the circuit with analyzed switch which m ZVT operation for the main power switch The simulation and experimental results would be shown to verify the proposed current algorithm, because the main power switch is turn on with ZVT and the bi-directional inverter is operated.

  • The object of this paper is to study a new control structure for sensorless induction machines dedicated to electrical drives using a three-level voltage source inverter VSI-NPC. The amplitude and the rotating speed of the flux vector can be controlled freely. The scheme investigated is an Enhanced direct torque control "EDTC" for electric vehicle propulsion. The considered application imposes some constraints which are achieved in EDTC control (fast torque response, optimal switching logic, torque control at zero speed, and large speed control. The results obtained for an induction motor indicate superior performance over the FOC type without need for any mechanical sensor.

  • This paper presents a microprocessor controlled electronic ballast for HID lamps, which gives automatic switching between MH and HPS lamps. Lamp identification is carried out by checking variation of lamp impedance at warm-up phase. Direct spread spectrum is done by applying 1 kHz triangular wave for removing acoustic resonance. This frequency modulation of 1 kHz gives also low EMI level. The microprocessor controls the voltage of DC-bus, the voltage of ignition pulses, the power of output. A 250W electronic ballast is implemented with ATmega16 CPU.

  • A novel sliding mode control with disturbance observer for position control of DC servo motor is presented. The conventional sliding mode controller changes the control structure depending on the state of switching surface and consequently, the control law is discontinuous and theoretically chatters at an infinite frequency. To overcome this problem in view of the practical implementation, the disturbance observer is used to compensate the effects of the parameter variations and the load disturvances. We can obtain the performance predetermined by the switching surface with continuous control law while the controlled system remains robust. The performance of the proposed controller with that of the conventional sliding mode controller through digital computer simulation and experiment.

  • DC/DC switching power converters produce DC output voltages from different stable DC input sources regulated by a bi-polar transistor. The converters can be used in regenerative braking of DC motors to return energy back in the supply, resulting in energy savings for the systems containing frequent stops. The voltage mode DC/DC converter is composed of a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controller, a MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor), an inductor, and capacitors, etc. PWM is applied to control and regulate the total output voltage. It is shown that the output of DC/DC converter depends on the variation of threshold voltage at MOSFET and the variation of pulse width. In the PWM operation, the missing pulses, the changes in pulse width, and a change in the period of the output waveform are studied by SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis) and experiments.

  • The operation behaviors of negative-resistance multivibrators. are described. The oscillation phenomena in monostable and bistable mode negative-resistance circuits are analyzed by using a analog computer. It is presented that voltage-controlled negative -resistance switching circuits may be in oscillation state for a time or parmanently by adding the bias voltage or trigger pulse. The results show that the care must be taken for this fact in the constructions of negative resistance switching circuits.

  • With the advent of the high-speed microprocessor and DSP, the possibility of executing a control strategy in digital domain has become a reality. By the use of the DSP and microprocessor controller, many high power drive system may be enhanced resulting in the improved robustness to EMI, the ability to communicate the operating conditions and the ease of adjusting the control parameters. But, the digital controller using DSP or microprocessor is not applied in the high frequency switching power supplies, especially full bridge DC/DC converter. So, this paper presents the method and realization of designing a digital-to-phase shift PWM circuit for full digital controlled full bridge DC/DC converter with zero voltage switching. The operating principles, simulation and experimental results will be presented.
