시스플라틴 항암제에 의해 유발되는 식욕부진과 신경병증성 통증이 쥐의 뒷다리근에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Anorexia and Neuropathic Pain Induced by Cisplatin on Hindlimb Muscles of Rat)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of anorexia and neuropathic pain induced by cisplatin on hindlimb muscles of rats. Methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into two groups, a cisplatin-treated group (n=10) and a control group (n=10). In the cisplatin-treated group, cisplatin at a dose of 2 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally two times a week up to a cumulative dose of 20 mg/kg over 5 weeks, and in the control group saline (0.9% NaCl) was injected intraperitoneally at the same dose and duration as the cisplatin-treated group. At 34 days all rats were anesthetized, after which the soleus and plantaris muscles were dissected. Withdrawal threshold, body weight, food intake, activity, muscle weight, Type I and II fiber cross-sectional areas and myofibrillar protein content of the dissected muscles were determined. Results: Compared with the control group, the cisplatin-treated group showed significant decreases (p<.05) in withdrawal threshold, activity, food intake, body weight, Type I and II fiber cross-sectional areas, myofibrillar protein content and weight of the soleus and plantaris muscles. Conclusion: Muscular atrophy in hindlimb occurs due to anorexia and neuropathic pain induced by the cisplatin treatment.

Characteristics of Leg and Ankle in Taxi Drivers

  • For professional drivers, there is a possibility to have musculoskeletal disorders on ankle joint due to repetitive pedaling operation. Therefore, this study have focused to examine ankle active range of motion (AROM), dorsiflexor strength, and pressure pain threshold (PPT) of tibialis anterior muscle (TA) in taxi drivers compared to a age-matched control group. Thirty male taxi drivers with at least 10 years of driving experience and thirty male sedentary workers were evaluated for ankle AROM, dorsiflexor strength, and PPT of TA. Multiple independent t-tests were used to identify significant differences between two groups. For the results, taxi drivers had significantly less AROM in dorsiflexion and greater AROM in external tibial rotation compared to the control group. Also, dorsiflexor strength and PPT of TA in taxi drivers was significantly lower than in the control group. This study indicates that the repetitive ankle movements associated with driving have an effect on ankle AROM, dorsiflexor strength, and PPT of TA and may lead to work-related musculoskeletal disorders on ankle. Professional drivers may need to be educated to prevent a potential musculoskeletal disorders associated with repetitive movement.

거동장애를 가진 전동휠체어 사용자를 위한 근전도 기반의 휴먼-컴퓨터 인터페이스 (A Novel EMG-based Human-Computer Interface for Electric-Powered Wheelchair Users with Motor Disabilities)

  • Electromyogram (EMG) signal generated by voluntary contraction of muscles is often used in rehabilitation devices because of its distinct output characteristics compared to other bio-signals. This paper proposes a novel EMG-based human-computer interface for electric-powered wheelchair users with motor disabilities by C4 or C5 spine cord injury. User's commands to control the electric-powered wheelchair are represented by shoulder elevation motions, which are recognized by comparing EMG signals acquired from the levator scapulae muscles with a preset double threshold value. The interface commands for controlling the electric-powered wheelchair consist of combinations of left-, right- and both-shoulders elevation motions. To achieve a real-time interface, we implement an EMG processing hardware composed of analog amplifiers, filters, a mean absolute value circuit and a high-speed microprocessor. The experimental results using an implemented real-time hardware and an electric-powered wheelchair showed that the EMG-based human-computer interface is feasible for the users with severe motor disabilities.

  • DGMOSFET는 CMOS 스케일링의 확장 및 단채널 효과를 보다 효과적으로 제어할 수 있는 유망란 소자이다. 특히 20nm이하의 도핑되지 않은 Si 채널에서 단채널 효과를 제어하는데 가장 효과적이다. 본 논문에서는 DGMOSFET의 해석학적 전송모델을 제시할 것이다. 단채널 효과를 해석학적으로 분석하기 위해 Subthreshold Swing(SS), 그리고 문턱전압 roll-off(${\Delta}V_{th}$) 등을 이용하였다. 여기서 제시된 모델은 이온방출효과와 source-drain 장벽을 통해 캐리어들의 양자 터널링을 포함하여 해석할 것이다. 여기서 제시된 모델은 gate길이, 채널두께, 게이트 산화막 두께 등을 설계하는데 이용할 것이다.

휘담식 진동기 수기요법의 기전에 대한 서술적 고찰 (Narrative Review on the Mechanism of Whidam's Vibrator Sugi Therapy)

  • Objective : This paper provides a narrative review of the research literature on the neurophysiological and neurochemical mechanisms of local vibration while studying the treatment principles and mechanisms of Whidam's vibrator Sugi therapy. Methods : Searches related to vibration therapy research were conducted in PUBMED using "Vibration", "Whole Body Vibration", "Localized Vibration", and "Focal Vibration". The Conditions were limited to review and systematic review. Results : Roberto Casale's paper was selected as an inquiry task and reviewed critically and narratively by referring to other papers. The stimulation process of local vibration (LV) was broadly classified into receptor transmission (pain reception phase), ascending sensory pathway to the spinal cord (segmental phase), and action of the cortex and subcortical structures (systemic control phase) according to the pain pathway. In addition, the role of C-tactile mechanoreceptors, changes in neurotransmitters and neurohormones, LV stimulation below perception threshold (lower threshold), pain control and kinesiologic illusions were specially addressed. In addition, the expression and function of Piezo Channels were added to supplement the human pain and tactile sensing mechanism. Conclusions : LV exerts pain control mechanisms through different interactions that can interfere with pain transmission and pain perception. Since LV provides sufficient neurophysiological reasons for clinical application, it is necessary to expand the use of Whidam's vibrator Sugi therapy to a wider range of clinical applications.

Epidemiological application of the cycle threshold value of RT-PCR for estimating infection period in cases of SARS-CoV-2

  • Epidemiological control of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is needed to estimate the infection period of confirmed cases and identify potential cases. The present study, targeting confirmed cases for which the time of COVID-19 symptom onset was disclosed, aimed to investigate the relationship between intervals (day) from symptom onset to testing the cycle threshold (CT) values of real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Of the COVID-19 confirmed cases, those for which the date of suspected symptom onset in the epidemiological investigation was specifically disclosed were included in this study. Interval was defined as the number of days from symptom onset (as disclosed by the patient) to specimen collection for testing. A locally weighted regression smoothing (LOWESS) curve was applied, with intervals as explanatory variables and CT values (CTR for RdRp gene and CTE for E gene) as outcome variables. After finding its non-linear relationship, a polynomial regression model was applied to estimate the 95% confidence interval values of CTR and CTE by interval. The application of LOWESS in 331 patients identified a U-shaped curve relationship between the CTR and CTE values according to the number of interval days, and both CTR and CTE satisfied the quadratic model for interval days. Active application of these results to epidemiological investigations would minimize the chance of failing to identify individuals who are in contact with COVID-19 confirmed cases, thereby reducing the potential transmission of the virus to local communities.

저전압에서 다결정 실리콘 TFT의 불균일한 특성을 보상한 새로운 AMOLED 구동회로 (A Novel Poly-Si TFT Pixel circuit for AMOLED to Compensate Threshold Voltage Variation of TFT at Low Voltage)

  • 본 논문에서는 저전압에서 다결정 실리콘(Polycrysta1line Silicon: Poly-Si) 박막 트랜지스터 (Thin Film Transistors: TFTs) 의 문턱전압(threshold voltage)의 불균일성을 보상한 새로운 AMOLEDs(Active Matrix Organic Light Diodes) 구동 회로를 제안한다, 제안한 회로는 6개의 스위칭, 1개의 드라이빙 TFT와 1개의 저장 콘덴서로 구성되어 있으며, SPICE 시뮬레이션을 통해 구동회로의 동작을 검증하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 5V정도의 낮은 구동 전압($V_{DD}$)에서 제안한 화소 구동회로의 OLED 출력 전류는 0.8%정도의 오차를 갖는 반면 기본적인 구동회로의 경우 약20%정도의 오차를 갖는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 논문에서 제안한 화소 구동회로는 OLED의 전류를 결정하는 driving TFT의 threshold voltage 변화에 따른 전류의 변화를 성공적으로 보상하였고, 안정화된 전류를 OLED를 흘려주어 기본적인 화소 회로가 가지고 있던 불균일화의 문제를 해결함을 알 수 있다.

근골격계질환에 있어서 침치료와 침과 약침복합치료 자극 후 통증의 변화 (The Clinical study on the change of pain after needle acupuncture and needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy in the musculoskeletal disorder)

  • Objective : This study was performed to compare needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy with only needle acupuncture therapy in VAS and pain threshold. Methods : We used pressure algometer to evaluate the change of pain threshold before and after treatment. The numberical value of pressure algometer is obtained twice and averaged by identical acupuncturist. Visual analogue scale(VAS) was used to estimate the efficacy of needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy. Result : The following results were obtained; 1. The significant difference in VAS was showed before and after treatment in only needle acupuncture therapy. 2. The significant difference in pain threshold and VAS was showed before and after treatment in needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy. 3. In the pain threshold, the significant difference between only needle acupuncture and needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy was not showed. 4. Needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy showed the more effective change of VAS than only needle acupuncture therapy. Conclusions : In the pain control, needle acupuncture combined herbal acupuncture therapy is more effective than only needle acupuncture therapy.

광 버스트 스위칭에서 버스트 길이의 동적 조절을 통한 QoS 향상방법 (QoS Improvement Scheme in Optical Burst Switching using Dynamic Burst length Adjustment)

  • 본 논문은 Offset time을 기반으로 하는 OBS에서 하위 우선순위 클래스의 버스트 크기를 망의 트래픽 부하에 따라 동적으로 조절하여 하위 우선순위 클래스의 손실율을 제어시킬 수 있는 방안을 제안한다. 이 방안에서는 void를 활용하는 스케줄링에서는 부하가 증가함에 따라 긴 버스트의 손실율이 짧은 버스트의 손실율 보다 높아지므로, 부하가 높아 질 때에는 버스트의 길이를 짧게 함으로써, 채널의 void/gap을 보다 효율적으로 활용하여 클래스간의 버스트 충돌을 감소시킬 수 있다는 사실을 이용한다. 이 방안의 구현을 위해서 먼저 버스트의 길이와 버스트 loss율 그리고 트래픽 부하에 대한 상관관계를 구하여, 코어 라우터에서는 망의 부하에 따라 유지하고자하는 버스트 손실율에 상응하는 burst 길이를 Ingress 에지 라우터(edge router)에 주기적 혹은 필요에 따라 피드백 해준다. 에지 라우터는 피드백 받은 정보에 따라 어셈블리 때에 Burst Assembly Threshold를 조정하여 버스트 길이를 제한하게 된다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여 제안한 방안이 하위 우선 순위 버스트들의 손실율을 망이 요구하는 수준으로 잘 유지 할 수 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다.

선박 및 실내 N-스크린 서비스를 위한 동적 Threshold 기반 멀티캐스트 기술 (Dynamic Threshold-Based Multicast Scheme for N-Screen Services in Indoor and Ship Area Networks)

  • 센서장비에 장착되는 무선통신 모듈은 선내 통합유무선 네트워크와의 원활한 연결을 위하여 무선 게이트웨이 기능을 수행하는 Bridge(브릿지)를 통한 데이터 전송방식이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 선박 및 실내 끊김없는 N-스크린 서비스를 위한 무선 통신 MAC 구조로서, WiMedia Distributed-MAC(D-MAC) 프로토콜을 적용하고, 끊김없는 D-MAC 프로토콜에서 P2P(Point to point) 스트리밍이 가능한 OSMU(One Source Multi Use) N-스크린 서비스를 제공하기 위해, 동적 Threshold 기반 멀티캐스트 기술을 제안하고 성능을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 새로운 Hard/Soft Vertical Region(HVR-SVR) 기반 타임 슬롯 할당 기술과 Multicast 자원 예약기술을 결합하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 동적 Threshold 기반 멀티캐스트 기술은 다양한 서비스 시간 간격 요구를 갖는 실시간 N-스크린 데이터 전송에 있어, 멀티캐스트 및 유니캐스트 전송 DRP 예약 구간을 확장하고 수율을 향상시키는 효과를 나타내었다.
