Automation technologies for harvesting , transporting and grading need to be developed. This study was conducted to develop harvesting process automation system profitable to a competitive price. 1. Manipulator and end-effector are to be designed and fabricated , and fuzzy logic controller for controlling these are to be composed. 2. The entire system constructed is to be evaluated through a performance test. A robot system for harvesting a lettuce was developed. It was composed of a manipulator with 20DOF (degrees of freedom) an end-effector, a lettuce feeding conveyor , an air blower , a machine vision device, 6 photoelectric sensors and a fuzzy logic controller. A fuzzy logic control was applied to determined appropriate grip force on lettuce. Leaf area index and height index were used as input parameters, and voltage was used as output parameter for the fuzzy logic controller . Success rate of the lettuce harvesting system was 93.06% , and average harvesting time was about 5 seconds per lettuce.

  • In this paper, we suppose a fuzzy logic controller for cruise control of vehicle. Generally, fuzzy logic controller is known as a controller which can be coped with a non-linear and a complex system. The proposed fuzzy logic controller consists of three input variables; that is, a desired speed, a current vehicle speed, and a current acceleration, and one output variable, throttle angle. The supposed fuzzy logic controller is for engine speed control system is implemented on 80586 microprocessor with DT-2801.

  • In this paper, the optimal synthesis algorithm of multiple-valued logic circuits using universal logic modules (ULM) U$_{f}$ based on 3-variable ternary reed-muller expansions is presented. We check the degree of each varable for the coefficients of reed-muller expansions and determine the order of optimal control input variables that minimize the number of ULM U$_{f}$ modules. The order of optimal control input variables is utilized the realization of multiple-valued logic circuits to be constructed by ULM U$_{f}$ modules based on reed-muller expansions using the circuit cost matrix. This algorithm is performed only unit time in order to search for the optimal control input variables. Also, this algorithm is able to be programmed by computer and the run time on programming is O(p$^{n}$ ).

  • Many studies have been done in the field of fuzzy logic theory, but it's application to the ship's steering system is few until this date. This paper is to survey the effect of application of fuzzy logic control by new compositional rule of Inference to the ship's steering system. The controller is made up of a set of Linguistic Control Rules which are conditional linguistic statements connecting the inputs and output, and take the inputs derived from deviation angle and it's angular velocity. The Linguistic Control Rules are implemented on the digital computer to verify the performance of the fuzzy logic controller and simulations have been done in six cases of initial condition and disturbance type. Consequently, it was proved that the ship's steering system by introducing the F.L.C. is performed efficiently and less energy loss system compared with the conventional autopilot.

  • Clock Controlled Dual keeper Domino logic structures (CCDD_1 and CCDD_2) for achieving a high-speed performance with low power consumption and a good noise margin are proposed in this paper. The keeper control circuit comprises an additional PMOS keeper transistor controlled by the clock and foot node voltage. This control mechanism offers abrupt conditional control of the keeper circuit and reduces the contention current, leading to high-speed performance. The keeper transistor arrangement also reduces the loop gain associated with the feedback circuitry. Hence, the circuits offer less delay variability. The design and simulation of various wide fan-in designs using 180 nm CMOS technology validates the proposed CCDD_1 and CCDD_2 designs, offering an increased speed performance of 7.2% and 8.5%, respectively, over a conventional domino logic structure. The noise gain margin analysis proves good robustness of the CCDD structures when compared with a conventional domino logic circuit configuration. A Monte Carlo simulation for 2,000 runs under statistical process variations demonstrates that the proposed CCDD circuits offer a significantly reduced delay variability factor.

  • This paper focuses on a new optimization technique of a fuzzy logic based proportional integral (FLPI) load frequency controller by the multiple tabu search (MTS) algorithm. Conventionally, the membership functions and control rules of fuzzy logic control are obtained by trial and error method or experiences of designers. To overcome this problem, the MTS algorithm is proposed to simultaneously tune proportional integral gains, the membership functions and control rules of a FLPI load frequency controller in order to minimize the frequency deviations of the interconnected power system against load disturbances. The MTS algorithm introduces additional techniques for improvement of the search process such as initialization, adaptive search, multiple searches, crossover and restart process. Simulation results explicitly show that the performance of the proposed FLPI controller is superior to conventional PI and FLPI controllers in terms of overshoot and settling time. Furthermore, the robustness of the proposed FLPI controller under variation of system parameters and load change are higher than that of conventional PI and FLPI controllers.

  • This paper presents the control of an inverted pendulum system using intelligent algorithms, such as fuzzy logic and neural networks, for advanced control education. The swing up balancing control of the inverted pendulum system was performed using fuzzy logic. Because the switching time from swing to standing motion is important for successful balancing, the fuzzy control method was employed to regulate the energy associated with the angular velocity required for the pendulum to be in an upright position. When the inverted pendulum arrived within a range of angles found experimentally, the control was switched from fuzzy to proportional-integral-derivative control to balance the inverted pendulum. When the pendulum was balancing, a joystick was used to command the desired position for the pendulum to follow. Experimental results demonstrated the performance of the two intelligent control methods.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the interactions between the thermal factors in existing thermal control methods and to find out the control logic that can create more comfortable thermal conditions. For it, four thermal control logics were developed:conventional temperature-based control; temperature-based and humidity-based control; PMV-based control; and TS-based control. Their performance was comparatively tested in the U.S. typical 5-story office building in two climate zones (Detroit, Michigan and Miami, Florida) for two seasons (winter and summer) incorporating IBPT (International Building Physics Toolbox) and Matlab/Simulink. Analysis on the thermal conditions and energy efficiency revealed that each control logic created comfortable conditions for their respective target, i.e., temperature, humidity, PMV or TS, but uncomfortable for others (e.g., temperature-based control logic maintained PMV or TS uncomfortably or vise versa). In addition, energy efficiency was significantly different by logics. In conclusion, it can be said that the overall thermal comfort can be improved by the adoption of the PMV and TS as a target variable and their economical benefits are expected in the hotter climate zones with the reduced cooling and dehumidifying energy consumptions.

  • When a robot manipulator performs some task like grinding or assembling, not only the position control but also the force control of the tools connected to the robot must be controlled. But at this time We were received the uncertainty problems of system information for the force control, for example disturbance, senor resolution and measurement noise. Therefore we proposed fuzzy logic control method instead of existing control theory for the robot manipulator control, for example PID control method. In this paper, We proposed hybrid position/force control of robot manipulator using fuzzy logic control method. To show the validity of the proposed fuzzy controller, We compared fuzzy controller with conventional PID controller.

  • BIST architecture and circuit design are presented for the self-test of various datapath megacells including embedded SRAM, barrel shifter, adder and multiplier. The BIST architecture is composed of VCO, ROM, comparator and otehr control logic to measure the megacell' performance up to 300MHz. PC interface and control logic are also implemented to perform the manual testing of each megacell with various test patterns. The control logic was designed using VHDL and its circuit is synthesized using Synopsys for $0.6\mu$ 1-poly, 3-matal CMOS technology.
