In this study total of six buckling-restrained braces (BRBs) were manufactured using a square steel rod as a load-resisting core member and a hollow steel tube as restrainer to prevent global buckling of the core. The gap between the core and the tube was filled with steel rods as filler material. The performances of the proposed BRB from uniaxial and subassemblage tests were compared with those of the specimens filled with mortar. The test results showed that the performance of the BRB with discontinuous steel rods as filler material was not satisfactory, whereas the BRBs with continuous steel rods as filler material showed good performance when the external tubes were strong enough against buckling. It was observed that the buckling strength of the external tube of the BRBs filled with steel rods needs to be at least twice as high as that of the BRBs filled with mortar to ensure high cumulative plastic deformation of the BRB.

Purpose - This study aims to eradicate and halt the continuous life cycle of corruption. Only when ethical management policies are implemented can the business ethics system be effective and transparent. Research design, data, and methodology - The analyses and legislative measures designed by these organizations and countries were based on solid research, uncovered during my visits and interviews conducted with businessmen in those countries. Results - The main focus of in this study is as follows: First, to introduce the programs of UN, OECD, OAS, USA, and Asian countries noted for business ethics and transparency policies; Second, to define each function and problem of these countries' anti-corruption systems, including the U.S. federal government, and to examine Chinese trends. Conclusions - Ethical managements are necessary to improve business ethics. This study suggests four related areas for the purpose of discouraging bribery and corruption; these are improving global corporate governance standards, increasing financial transparency, improving good governance in the public service of the OECD member countries, and focusing on not only the supply side but also the demand side of the corruption market.

Ecklonia stolonifera Okamura is a member of the family Laminariaceae, belonging to the order Laminariales. Previously we reported that the methanolic extract of the brown alga E stolonifera exerts antioxidative activity on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical. The main objective of this paper is to propose the optimal design method of welded plate girder bridges using genetic algorithm. The objective function considered is the total weight of the welded plate girder. The behavior and design constraints are formulated based on the Korean Railroad Bridge Design Code and DIC Code. Continuous design variables are used to define the cross-sectional dimensions of the member. The GAs (genetic algorithm) is used to solve the nonlinear programming problem. Several examples of minimum weight design are solved to illustrate the applicability of the proposed minimization algorithm. From the results of application examples, the optimum design of welded plate girder is successfully accomplished. Therefore, the proposed algorithm in this paper may be used efficiently and generally for the optimum design of welded plate girders.

The compressive behavior up to failure of short concrete members reinforced with fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is investigated. Rectangular cross-sections are analysed by means of a simplified elastic model, able also to explain stress-concentration. The model allows one to evaluate the equivalent uniform confining pressure in ultimate conditions referred to the effective confined cross-section and to the effective stresses in FRP along the sides of section; consequently, it makes it possible to determine ultimate strain and the related bearing capacity of the confined member corresponding to FRP failure. The effect of local reinforcements constitute by single strips applied at corners before the continuous wrapping and the effect of round corners are also considered. Analytical results are compared to experimental values available in the literature.

The purpose of this study was to find out the necessary conditions and factors what effect as a society member through the students with disabilities to have a positive and mutual peer relationship with their classmates in the school and by them analyzed formation process and elucidate signification. The research method focused on the data summarized and enumerated through the investigation methods such as two in-depth interviews and two observation activities part, and the data which are commonly stated or observed in the data. The results of this study start that the factors of peer relationship formation between children with disabilities and their with non-disabled children are caused by lack of prejudice or lack of awareness. However, continuous cognizance improvement program, teacher's education guidance, the age have presence sense and subject about friend equating idea was mainly shown of school education or local community.

The equivalent circuit of SLIM is composed of the circuit parameters. They can be obtained from the electromagnetic theory. The accelerating characteristics of SLIM are the best efficiency when synchronous speed changed continuously. The paper outlines a method of acceleration for an accelerated field system in which it is desired to reduce the overall length to a minimum, assuming a limit on the amount of heat which can be generated in the secondary member. The paper then shows that a primary unit designed to give several discrete field speeds only, as opposed to one with continuous speed variation, is not significantly inferior in performance to the latter but is much easier to manufacture.

The gene encoding solute carrier family 9 member 6 (SLC9A6) on Xq26.3 is associated with Christianson syndrome (CS) mimicking Angelman syndrome. In CS, developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) appears in about 20%, and DEE with spike-and-wave activation in sleep (SWAS) is reported only in several cases. A 10-year-old boy with DEE showed multidrug resistant focal seizures from 6 months of age. He had progressive microcephaly, regression, global developmental delay without speech, hyperkinesia, and truncal ataxia; he had a long thin face, esotropia, and happy demeanor. Brain magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated cerebellar atrophy. Electroencephalogram at 7.5 years of age showed nearly continuous diffuse paroxysms in slow wave sleep. The seizures were responsive to corticosteroids for a while. Trio whole exome sequencing exhibited a likely pathogenic variant of SLC9A6 in the proband and his asymptomatic mother: c.1194dup (p.Leu399AlafsTer12). This is a rare case report of CS with DEE-SWAS in a Korean patient.

This study examines the impact of trade facilitation on China's trade for the period 2010-2017 using a gravity model with a measurement of APEC trade facilitation through principal component analysis. The empirical results confirmed that trade facilitation was a key factor to have a positive effect on Chinese exports and that the higher the level of trade facilitation in APEC countries, the more positive the increase in exports and quantities with China. Further, the size of the economy, the total population, and the border between the trading partner had a positive effect on Chinese trade volume. To promote economic growth through increase in trade volume, countries should actively improve trade facilitation and participate in global trade facilitation reform through continuous cooperation with trading partners.

The genus Athanas is a member of alpheid shrimps living in temperate and tropical waters worldwide. Species of the genus Athanas are small and inhabit coral reefs, rock or muddy bottoms. As a result of continuous taxonomic research on shrimps collected from Korean waters, Athanas parvus is newly added to Korean fauna through the description of adult form. Athanas parvus is distinguished from A. japonicus by the biunguiculated dactyli of third, fourth and fifth pereopods and spines on ischium of first pereopod. The Korean Alpheidae fauna now consists of nine genera and 27 species including two species of the genus Athanas.
